The IPS-CABLE provides the serial interface between an IPS-RDPE-2 remote data port or Spectra®
dome system and a Windows
interface cable transmits data for local viewing, programming, and pan/tilt/zoom control of a Spectra,

SOFTWARE UPLOAD FILES (SPECTRA AND EXSITE SYSTEMS)
Upload software has a three-digit filename that identifies the software version.
Example: Filename 120 is system software version 1.20.
For Spectra III and ExSite systems, language files have a four-digit filename that identify file type and
version. Standard language files (English, Spanish, Portugese, Italian, French, and German) start with
the number 2. Alternate language files begin with the number 3 or higher.
Example: 2300 is the standard language file version 3.00.

WARNING: To upload software using the IPS-RDPE-2 remote data port, the following system
software must be installed:
•Spectra III dome drive must have software version 1.2 or highter installed.

Windows-Based PC Installation and Operation
To interface with a Spectra dome drive or IPS-RDPE-2 remote data port using a Windows-based PC,
first install the control/upload utility and then install the IPS-CABLE.
The control/upload utility is compatible with the following operating systems:

INSTALL THE CABLE
To install the IPS-cable, refer to Figure 1 and do the following:

1. Insert the Resource CD into the CD drive. The main menu appears on the monitor.
2. Click the Control/Upload Utility button for Spectra, Esprit, or ExSite. The Install Shield Wizard
starts.
3. Follow the instructions displayed on the monitor.
1. Connect a null modem cable (not supplied) to the COM1 or COM2 serial port on the PC.
2. Connect the 9-pin male connector from the IPS-CABLE to the null modem cable.
3. Connect the IPS-CABLE to the RJ-45 port of the Spectra dome drive or IPS-RDPE-2.

WARNING: To upload software using the IPS-RDPE-2 remote data port, the following system
software must be installed:

1. Click the application icon located on the PC desktop.
2. Insert the Resource CD into the CD drive. Click the Browse button. Select the CD drive and the
software file. Select the protocol for the system, system address, and port (COM1 or COM2).
Click the Upload button.
3. Wait until "Done" appears on the screen before unplugging the interface cable (IPS-CABLE).
WARNING: To prevent damage to the system, never cycle power or attempt control of the
system during the upload process. The upload process is not complete until the system
reboots and the "Configure Done" message appears on the monitor.

Palm Handheld Installation and Operation
To interface with a Spectra dome drive or IPS-RDPE-2 remote data port using a Palm handheld, first
install the Control/Upload Utility and then install the IPS-CABLE.
The Control/Upload Utility is compatible with Palm OS version 3.5 or higher.
NOTE: Know how to operate a Palm OS-compatible handheld before attempting to control or
upload software using the IPS-CABLE.

1. Connect a Palm OS-compatible serial cable (not supplied) to the handheld serial port.
2. Connect the 9-pin male connector from the IPS-CABLE to the Palm OS compatible serial cable.
3. Connect the IPS-CABLE to the RJ-45 port of the Spectra dome drive or IPS-RDPE-2.

iPAQ Pocket PC 3100 series through 3800 series with Windows CE 3.0 for PocketPC or PocketPC

Devices other than iPAQ that use Windows CE 3.0 for PocketPC or PocketPC 2002 should be
compatible.

WARRANTY
Pelco will repair or replace, without charge, an y merchandise proved defective in material or workmanship for a period of one year after the date of
shipment.
Exceptions to this warranty are as noted below:
• Five years on FT/FR8000 Series fiber optic products.
• Three years on Genex® Series products (multiplexers, server, and keyboard).
• Three years on Camclosure® and fixed camera models, except the CC3701H-2, CC3701H-2X, CC3751H-2, CC3651H-2X, MC3651H-2, and
CC3651H-2X camera models, which have a five-year warrant y.
• Two years on standard motorized or fixed focal length lenses.
• Two years on Legacy®, CM6700/CM6800/CM9700 Series matrix, and DF5/DF8 Series fixed dome products.
• Two years on Spectra®, Esprit®, ExSite™, and PS20 Scanners, including when used in continuous motion applications.
• Two years on Esprit® and WW5700 Series window wiper (exclud ing wiper blades).
• Eighteen months on DX Series digital video recorders, NVR30 0 Series network video recorders, and Endura™ Series distributed network-based video
products.
• One year (except video heads) on video cassette recorders (VCRs). Video heads will be covered for a period of six months.
• Six months on all pan and tilts, scanners or prese t lenses used in continuous motion applications (that is, preset scan, tour and auto scan mode s).
Pelco will warrant all replacement p arts and repairs for 90 days from the date of P elco shipment. All goods requiring warranty rep air shall be sent freight
prepaid to Pelco, Clovis, California. Repairs made necessary by reason of misuse, alteration, normal wear, or accident are not covered under this
warranty.
Pelco assumes no risk and shall be subject to no liability for damages or loss resulting from the sp ecific use or application made of the Products. Pelco’s
liability for any claim, whether based on breach of contract, negligence, infringement of an y rights of any party or product liability, relating to the Products
shall not exceed the price paid by the Dealer to Pelco for such Products. In no event will Pelco be liable for any special, incidental or consequential
damages (including loss of use, loss of prof it and claims of third parties) however caused, whether by the negligence of Pelco or otherwise.
The above warranty provides the Dealer with spe cific legal rights. The Dealer may also have additional right s, which are subject to variation from state
