Introduction

Thank you for choosing Peavey's Messenger UL™ series enclosur es as part of your sound reinforcement system. We take great
pride in the design and manufacture of our units and you can expect top performance and reliability. Your Messenger UL™
enclosure has been rigorously tested before packing and despatch to your dealer. A built-in crossover is fitted to optimise
performance under variable conditions. The nominal impedance of your enclosure will be clearly marked on the in-put plate.

Full range operation

From the power am plifier con nect to the socket mark ed “input” us ing a 2 core cable an d an NL4 Speako n connec tor wired as follo ws:-

" Positive to 1+
" Negative to 1-

The “link “ socket enables parallel connection of another enclosure, however take care that the final load presented to the power amplifier is within
its continuous operating parameters . Use this socket in conjunction with an NL4 Speakon and 2 core cable wired as follows:-

" Positive to 1+
" Negative to 1-

Bi -amp operation

Note that an electronic crossover set to a frequency of 1200Hz (18dB/octave minimum) with RX22 compression driver EQ will be required.
From the power am plifier(s) c onnect to t he socket m arked “bi-amp” using a 4 cor e cable and an NL4 Speako n conne ctor wi red as f ollows:-

" Bi-amp low positive to 1+
" Bi-amp low negative to 1-
" Bi-amp high positive to 2+
" Bi-amp high negative to 2-

Connecting to the “bi-amp” socket autom atically disconnects the internal crossover .
There will be no output from the “link” socket whilst in bi-amp mode.

For extended low frequency response we recommend one of the following low frequency enclosures:­UL™-112, UL™-115, UL™-118, UL™-118S or UL™-215S

For use with other electronic crossovers and configurations, consult your Authorised Peavey Dealer.

NOTE! EQ is required for the RX™22 compression driver.

Voicing Switch (UL™-12 & UL™-15)

This feature is fitted only to the UL™-12 and the UL™-15 (4 and 8ohms). The voicing switch allows selection between two
levels of mid-range output. Setting the switch to FLAT allows the enclosure to reproduce the entire mid-range without
attenuation. Setting the switch to EQ will attenuate the mid-range. Different styles of music and venues will determine which
setting produces the desired sound.

Speakon Cable Wiring

Your Messenger UL™ enclosure is fitted with low loss Neutrik input socket(s) which must be wired to a regular twin conductor
cable of adequate gauge using a 4 pole Neutrik plug (not supplied), Peavey part # 00712570. Peavey UL™-10, 12 and 15
enclosures are fitted with two parallel Neutrik sockets to allow daisy chaining. Either socket may be used as the input.

DANGER! LOUDSPEAKER CABLES CAN CARRY HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES. TAKE CARE IN TERMINATING
YOUR CABLES. PEAVEY STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT THE POWER AMPLIFIER IS SWITCHED OFF
WHILST CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING EITHER END OF THE LOUDSPEAKER CABLE.

DANGER! THIS ENCLOSURE HAS NOT BEEN DESIGNED TO BE FLOWN IN ANY WAY. NEVER ATTEMPT TO
SUSPEND USING THE HANDLES OR BY ANY OTHER MEANS.

CAUTION ! THIS SPEAKER IS CAPABLE OF HIGH SOUND PRESSURE LEVELS. USE EXTREME CARE IN
SETTING MAXIMUM LOUDNESS.

CAUTION! ENSURE THAT ANY SPEAKER STAND USED IS ABLE TO SUPPORT THE ENCLOSURE WEIGHT
AND THAT THE STAND IS ONLY STOOD ON A STABLE AND LEVEL SURFACE WITH THE MINIMUM OF
TILT.

Introduction

Nous vous remercions d’avoir choisi les enceintes Messenger UL™ de Peavey. Nous sommes très fiers de la conception et de la
réalisation de ces enceintes d’un excellent rendement et d’une grande fiabilité. Votre enceinte Messenger UL™ a été soumise à
des essais rigoureux avant d’être conditionnée et expédiée à votre revendeur. Elle possède un filtre passif afin d’améliorer ses
performances et son rendement. Son impédance nominale sera inscrite clairement sur la plaque supportant les prises d’entrées.

Mode plein registre

Venant de votre amplificateur c onnectez ce dernier à la prise marquée “inpu t”en utilis ant un câble à deux conduc te urs de calibre suffisant et
disposant de prises Speakon® NL4 reliés de la manière suivante:

" Positif vers 1+
" Negatif vers 1-

La prise “link “ p ermet une c onnection en parallèle d'u n deuxièm e haut-parleu r toutefois, vei llez à ce que la ch ar ge d'impéda nce finale
correspondent au paramètres d'opération en mode continu de votre amplificateur. Utiliser cette prise en conjonction avec un câb le à deux
conducteurs de calibre suffisant et disposant de prises Speakon® NL4 reliés de la manière suivante:

" Positif vers 1+
" Negatif vers 1-

Mode bi-amplification

Noter qu 'un filtre actif réglé sur la fréquence 1 200Hz (18dB/octave mi nimum)sera nécéssaire pour alimenter le m oteur de compre ssion RX22.
Venant de votre amplificateur c onnectez ce dernier à la prise marquée “inpu t”en utilis ant un câble à deux conduc te urs de calibre suffisant et
disposant de prises Speakon® NL4 reliés de la manière suivante:

" Amplification graves positif vers 1+
" Amplification graves négatif vers 1-
" Amplification aigues positif vers 2+
" Amplification aigues négatif vers 2-

Utiliser la prise “Bi-amp” déconnectera automatiquem ent le filtre passif interne.
En mode Bi-amplification la prise “Link” sera désactivée

Pour une réponse optimum des basses fréquences, nous recommandons l’une de ces enceintes basses fréquences:
UL™-112, UL™-115, UL™-118, UL™-118S ou UL™-215S
(voir les notices d’utilisation correspondantes)
En cas d’utilisation avec d’autres filtres électroniques ou configuration, consultez votre revendeur Peavey.

NOTE: l’utilisation d’un EQ CDH est nécessaire avec les moteurs de compression RX

™22.

Contacteur de voicing

(UL™-12 & UL™-15

Seules les enceintes UL™-12 et UL™-15 (4 et 8 Ohms) disposent de ce contacteur. Il offre le choix entre deux niveaux de
réponse différents pour les fréquences moyennes. Sur la position FLAT, l’enceinte reproduit toutes les fréquences sans
atténuation. Sur la position EQ, les médiums sont atténués. L’une ou l’autre position sera utilisée selon le lieu d’utilisation et le
type de musique pour obtenir le son désiré.

Câbles et prises Speakon

Votre enceinte UL™ dispose de fiches Neutrik à faibles pertes devant être connectées à un câble standard (non fourni) composé
de deux conducteurs de calibre suffisant et disposant de prises Neutrik à 4 pôles (Peavey ref 00712570). Les enceintes Peavey
UL™-10, UL™-12 et UL™-15 possèdent deux prises Neutrik placées en parallèle autorisant le chainage d’enceintes. Chacune de
ces fiches peut être utilisée comme entrée.

DANGER! LES CABLES DE HAUT-PARLEURS PEUVENT PRESENTER DES TENSIONS IMPORTANTES.
PRENEZ SOIN DE LA REALISATION DE VOS CABLES. AFIN D’EVITER TOUT RISQUE D’ELECTROCUTION,
PEAVEY RECOMMANDE LA MISE HORS TENSION DE L’AMPLIFICATEUR DE PUISSANCE LORS DU
BRANCHEMENT DES CABLES.

Einleitung

Vielen Dank, daß Sie sich für die Peavey Messenger UL™-Lautsprecher-Serie entschieden haben. Unsere Messenger UL™
Lautsprechersysteme werden nach den gegenwärtig modernsten Kenntnissen designed und entwickelt, erwarten Sie
daher Top-Performance und hohe Zuverlässigkeit unserer Produkte. Ihr Messenger UL™-Lautsprecher wurde eingehend geprüft, bevor
er an Ihren Händler verschickt wurde. Er ist ab Werk im Passivmode verkabelt und kann daher direkt an einen Verstärkerausgang mit 4
Ohm Impedanz angeschlossen werden. Eine eingebaute Frequenzweiche optimiert die Performance unter variablen Bedingungen. Die
nominale Impedanz Ihrer Messenger UL™ Box ist auf der Anschlußplatte auf der Rückseite angegeben.

Full-Range Betrieb

Die Verbindung der Endstufe zur Eingangsbuchse mit de r Bezeichnung “Input” erfolgt übe r ein 2-adriges Lautsprecherka bel. Die Belegung der NL4
Speakon Buchse ist wie folgt:

" Positiv an 1+
" Negativ an 1-.

Die Buchse mit der Bezeichnung “Link” erlaubt den para llelen Anschluss einer weiteren Box . Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Gesam tipmedanz nicht die
Mindestimpedanz der Endstufe im Dauerbetrieb unterschre iten darf. Verwenden Sie diesen Anschluss in Verbindung m it einem 2-adrigen
Lautsprecherkabel. Die Belegung der NL4 Speakon Buchse ist wie folgt.

" Positiv an 1+
" Negativ an 1-.

Bi -Amp Betrieb

Bitte beachtesn Sie, dass beim Betrieb des verwendeten RX22 K ompressionstreibers, die Tre nnfrequenz einer elektronischen F requenzweiche auf 1200 Hz
(18dB/Oktave Minimum) eingestellt sein sollte.

Die Verbindung der Endstufe(n) zur Eingangsbuchse mit der Bezeichn ung “Bi-Amp” erfolgt über ein 4-adriges Lautsprecherkabel. D ie Belegung der NL4
Speakon Buchse ist wie folgt::

" Bi-amp low positiv an 1+
" Bi-amp low negativ an 1-
" Bi-amp high positiv an 2+
" Bi-amp high negativ an 2-

Bei Anschluss an der Buchse “Bi-Amp” wird die interne Frequenzweiche automatisch deaktiviert. An der Buchse mit der Bezeichnung „Li nk“ liegt somit
kein Signal an.

Bitte beachten Sie die entsprechende Gebrauchsanweisung für weitere Details.
Für den Gebrauch mit anderen Frequenzweichen und Konfigurationen fragen Sie bitte Ihren Peavey-Händler.

Achtung ! Hornentzerrung/EQ ist für den RX™ 22 Kompressionstreiber notwendig.

Voicing Switch (UL™-12 & UL™-15)

Diese Funktion ist nur bei der UL-12 und UL-15 vorhanden. Der Schalter ermöglicht Ihnen die Wahl zwischen zwei verschiedenen
Mittenwiedergabe-Charakteristiken. Wenn Sie den Schalter auf FLAT einstellen, wird der Mitten-Bereich ohne Dämpfung von der Box
reproduziert. Wenn Sie den Schalter auf EQ einstellen, dämpft die Box den Mitten-Bereich. Verschiedene Arten von Musik und
Anwendungsbereichen erfordern unterschiedliche Einstellungen für den jeweils gewünschten Sound.

Speakon Kabelverbindung

Ihr Messenger UL™-Lautsprecher ist mit einer verlustarmen Neutrik-Eingangsbuchse ausgestattet, die an einem 2-poligen
Lautsprecherkabel mit 4-poligem Neutrik-Speakon-Stecker mit entsprechendem Leiterquerschnitt angeschlossen wird. (Speakon-Stecker
nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten), Sie können diesen als Option mit der Artikelnummer 00712570 bestellen. Peaveys Messenger UL™­10, 12 und 15 haben 2 parallel geschaltete Neutrikbuchsen eingebaut. Jede der beiden Buchsen kann alternativ als Eingang benutzt
werden.

Gracias por elegir las cajas acústicas Peavey de la serie Messenger UL™. Estamos orgullosos del diseño y acabado de nuestras
unidades, de las que esperamos el máximo rendimiento y seguridad. Su Messenger UL™ ha sido rigurosamente testado antes de
ser enviado a su distribuidor. Hemos fijado un filtro a la caja para optimizar su rendimiento en diferentes condiciones. La

Operación a todo rango

Conecte de la etapa de potencia al cone ctor marcado con la palabr a “input” usan do un cable de dos polos y conecto r NL4 Speakon como sigue:

El conector “link “ permite una conexión en paralelo de otro al tavoz, sin em bargo tenga en cuent a que la carga final present ada a la etapa se
encuentro dentro del parámetro continuo. Utilice este conector jun to con el NL4 Speako n y el cable de doble polari dad com o sigue:

" Positivo a 1+
" Negativo a 1-.

Uso Bi-amplificado

Note que será necesario usar un filtro instalado a una frecuencia de 1200Hz (18dB/octava mínimo) con compresor RX22 EQ.
Conecte de la etapa (s) de potencia a l conector marcad o con la pala bra “bi-amp” usand o un cable de 4 polos y un conecto r NL4 Speakon como
sigue:

" Bi-amp baja positi ve a 1+
" Bi-amp baja negativo a 1-
" Bi-amp alta positivo a 2+
" Bi-amp alta negativo a 2-

Conectando a “bi-amp” desconecta automaticamente el filtro interno .
No habrá salida del “link” mientras el modo bi-amp esté conectado.

Para ampliar la respuesta de baja frecuencia, le recomendamos una de las siguientes cajas:
UL™-112, UL™- 115, UL™-118 , UL™-118S o UL™-215S

Interruptor de Voz

(UL™-12 & UL™-15)

Esta característica es propia sólo de los UL™-12 y UL™-15 (de 4 y 8ohms). El interruptor de voz permite la selección entre dos
niveles de salida de medios. Ajustando el interruptor en el modo PLANO (FLAT) la caja reproducirá frecuencias de medios sin
atenuación. Ajustando el interruptor en el modo EQ atenuará las frecuencias de medios. Los diferentes estilos de música y
situaciones determinarán el tipo de ajuste de sonido que usted desee.

Cableado de Altavoces

Su Messenger UL™ tiene entradas Speakon Neutrik. Es importante utilizar un cable doble conductor con una sección adecuada (4
pole Neutrik) cuya referencia Peavey es #00712570#. Los UL™-10, 12 y 15 tien en dos entradas en paralelo que permiten una
conexión en cadena de margaritas. Puede usarse cualquiera de las dos entradas.

¡AVISO! LOS CABLES DE ALTAVOCES PUEDEN GENERAR DESCARGAS ELÉCTRICAS. TENGA CUIDADO
ESPECIALMENTE CON LAS TERMINACIONES. PEAVEY RECOMIENDA QUE APAGUE LA ETAPA DE
