MUTE CONFIGURATIONS
The MMA™and UMA™Series of modular mixer/amplifiers includes a powerful dual-mute bus architecture. The TPM-S2 is designed to fully support this feature.
Master:
The TPM-S2 can be assigned as a “master” on Mute Bus 1 and/or Mute Bus 2. In the Master position, the TPM-S2 has muting control of the selected bus. For example, three modules used for music or speech are assigned as slaves on Mute Bus 1. The TPM-S2 is assigned as Master on Mute Bus 1 as an emergency signal source. When the emergency signal audio is present, the slave modules are muted and only the TPM-S2 is heard. To assign the TPM-S2 as master on Mute Bus 1 or Mute Bus 2, install the supplied jumper on the two pins labeled MAS 1 or MAS 2.
Slave:
The TPM-S2 can also be assigned as a “slave” on Mute Bus 1 and/or Mute Bus 2. In the Slave position, audio from any module assigned as a Master on the corresponding bus will mute the TPM-S2. To assign the TPM-S2 as a Slave on Mute Bus 1 and/or Mute Bus 2, install the supplied jumper on the two pins labeled SLV 1 and/or SLV 2. Further, the TPM-S2 slave function can operate in one of two modes:
Non-Inverting Slave: (Default Mode, as above)
When a jumper is installed in this position, audio from any module assigned as a Master on the selected mute bus will mute the TPM-S2. Install a jumper on the two pins labeled NINV to activate this mode for either mute bus (or both, if both are selected).
Inverting Slave Mode:
When a jumper is installed in this position, audio from a module assigned as a Master on the selected mute bus will un-mute the TPM-S2. Install a jumper on the two pins labeled INV to activate this mode for either mute bus (or both, if both are selected). In this mode, no audio is possible from a slave module until a master module or external switch has activated a mute condition.
NOTES: The module must be assigned as either inverting or non-inverting for proper operation even if it is not assigned as a slave. A module can be assigned as a Master on one bus, and a Slave on the other bus. The WMA
series products have only one mute bus.
AUTOMATIC: To use the module in the Automatic mode, it must be assigned as a master and a slave on the same bus. Other modules on the bus must be assigned as non- inverting slaves. In this mode, the master module is muted when no signal is applied, while all other modules are un-muted. When signal is applied to the master module,
the master is un-muted and all slaves are muted.
EXTERNAL SWITCH: When using an external switch for muting or PTT (Push To Talk) configurations, the settings are identical to those of the automatic mode with two exceptions: (1) The module does not have to be assigned as a master to the bus. (2) An external switch is wired to the mute terminal of the MMA, UMA or WMA Series Mixer/Amplifier. (See the MMA, UMA or WMA series manual for further information on this connection.) In this configuration, the external switch activates the mute condition instead of the audio signal.
Enabled: jumper on. Disabled: jumper off.
Drawing is shown with jumpers OFF.
LOW CUT - Adjusts the range of the low cut filter 6 dB per octave. The filter center is at 125 Hz.
CAUTION: The TPM-S2 is not designed for direct termination to C.O. (Central Office) telephone lines. The use of a third-party interface is required to properly interface C.O. circuits to the TPM-S2 audio input. The TPM-S2 is an AUDIO device and requires a balanced line level audio signal for proper operation.
GAIN - Adjusts the level of the gain amplifier output to the mix bus. The control is after the gain preamplifier stage.
INPUT - Removable Euro connector with balanced line level audio input.
