Mid/High Enclosure
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Full Range Operation
Thank you for choosing Peavey's HiSys 6XT mid/high loudspeaker enclosure as part of your sound reinforcement system. We take great pride in the design and manufacture of our units and you can expect top performance and reliability. Your HiSys 6XT has been rigorously tested before packing and despatch to your dealer. Your HiSys 6XT has been rigorously tested before packing and despatch to your dealer. A built-in crossover is fitted to optimise performance under variable conditions and the unit leaves the factory pre-patched for passive/full range mode. The nominal impedance of the HiSys 6XT is 8ohms.
Bi-amp Operation
The practice of bi amplification allows full control over the performance of the HiSys 6XT. To change the enclosure from passive to bi amp mode or vice versa, it is necessary to gain access to the internal crossover board. The correct procedure is as follows:-
1. Remove the four screws retaining the grille. Remove the grille. Remove the four M5 bolts retaining the 10" Scorpion. Remove the speaker. The crossover board can be viewed through the opening and two large sockets will be visible.
2. The lower of these white sockets is for passive operation. The upper socket is for bi-amp operation.
3. As the enclosure leaves the factory pre- patched for passive use, the plug will be inserted in the lower socket. Simply pull out the plug and repatch it to the upper socket. The enclosure will now be in bi-amp mode. N.B. The plug will be very tight in its socket. This is necessary to achieve a low loss connection.
Crossover Selection
When operating in bi-amp mode it is important to select the correct crossover frequency and EQ. For use with Peavey's CS Series power amplifiers with crossover islands we recommend a PL-1200EQ.
For use with other electronic crossovers and configurations, consult your Authorised Peavey Dealer. NOTE! EQ is
required for the 22XT compression driver.
Operation
The HiSys 6XT will normally be required to be used with a subwoofer such as the Peavey HiSys 112XT unless response below 100Hz is not required. The HiSys 6XT is simply connected to the hi output of the HiSys 112XT (refer to HiSys 112XT operating guide). To operate the HiSys 6XT and the HiSys 112XT in a bi amp mode situation leave the HiSys 6XT in passive mode and repatch the HiSys 112XT for bi amp mode. An electronic crossover or module offering a crossover point between 100 and 250Hz will now be required, (e.g. Peavey's PL-100, PL-150 or PL-250). Simply connect the low pass to the input of the HiSys 112XT using pins 1+ and 1-, and the hi pass to the HiSys 6XT input using Neutrik pins 1+ and 1-. To run the system in tri amp mode crossover frequencies of between 100 and 250Hz and 1200Hz (with 22XT compression driver EQ) will be required. Connect the low pass to the input of the HiSys 112XT using Neutrik pins 1+ and 1-. Connect the mid pass to the HiSys 6XT using pins 1+ and 1-. Connect the high pass out to the HiSys 6XT using pins 2+ and 2-.
Speakon Cable Wiring
Your HiSys 6XT is fitted with two low loss parallel Neutrik input sockets, which must be wired to a regular twin conductor cable of adequate gauge using a 4-pole Neutrik plug, Peavey part # 00712570 (not supplied). Either socket may be used as the input.
IN CASE OF DIFFICULTY CONSULT YOUR AUTHORISED PEAVEY DEALER
Neutrik is a registered Trademark of NEUTRIK A.G.
