Low Frequency Enclosures
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Full Range operation
Thank you for choosing PeaveyÕs HiSys 112, 115 or 118XT low frequency speaker enclosure as part of your sound reinforcement system. We take great pride in the design and manufacture of our units and you can expect top performance and reliability. Your HiSys enclosure has been rigorously tested before packing and despatch to your dealer. A built in crossover is fitted to optimise performance under variable conditions and the unit leaves the factory pre-patched for passive/full range mode. The nominal impedance of the HiSys 112, 115 and the 118XT is 4 ohms.
Bi-amp operation
The practice of bi-amplification allows full control over the performance of the drivers used in the HiSys 112, 115 and 118XT. To change the enclosure from passive to bi-amp mode or vice-versa, it is necessary to gain access to the internal crossover board. The correct procedure is as follows:-
1. Remove the ten screws retaining the right hand carrying handle, (viewed from the front). The crossover board can be viewed through the opening and two large sockets will be visible.
2. The lower of these white sockets is for passive operation. The upper socket is for bi-amp operation.
3. As the enclosure leaves the factory pre-patched for passive use, the plug will be inserted in the lower socket. Simply pull out the plug and repatch it to the upper socket. The enclosure will now be in bi-amp mode.
N.B. The plug will be very tight in its socket. This is necessary to achieve a low loss connection.
Crossover Selection
When operating in bi-amp mode, it is important to select the correct crossover frequency. For use with PeaveyÕs CS Series power amplifiers with crossover islands, we recommend either a PL-150 or a PL-250.
For use with other electronic crossovers and configurations, consult your Authorised Peavey Dealer.
Hi output
We have equipped the HiSys 112, 115 and the 118XT with a high pass output socket. This provides a filtered output signal for operating a satellite enclosure with a minimum impedance of 4 ohms. Enclosures such as the HiSys 1XT, 2XT ( in 4 or 8 ohms} or the Hisys 6XT are recommended. The design of the crossover ensures the total load presented to the power amplifier is never less than a nominal 4ohms. NOTE: that there is no hi output available whilst the HiSys 112, 115 and 118XT are in bi-amp mode.
Operation
The full range signal from the power amplifier is connected to the input of the HiSys 112, 115, and 118XT. A dedicated lead with
a Neutrik plug at each end is required to connect the hi output from the HiSys 112, 115, 118XT to the input of the satellite....
PEAVEY PART # 15007020 . The satellite must be configured in full range mode. The full range signal from the power amplifier is filtered by the HiSys 112, 115 and 118XT on-board crossover into a high and a low signal. The low pass signal is supplied to the woofer in the HiSys 112, 115 and 118XT, high pass signals are supplied to the satellite and filtered again by the satelliteÕs own passive crossover.
Speakon Cable Wiring
Your HiSys 112, 115 and 118XT are fitted with a low loss Neutrik input socket , which must be wired to a regular twin conductor
cable of adequate gauge using a 4-pole Neutrik plug (not supplied)..... .PEAVEY PART # 00712570
When using the HiSys 112, 115 or 118XT with a satellite, use the hi output socket. Connect to Pins 2+/2- for the hi output and to 1+/1- for the satellite connection. We recommend you identify which end is which to avoid confusion during set-up.
IN CASE OF DIFFICULTY CONSULT YOUR AUTHORISED PEAVEY DEALER
Neutrik is a registered Trademark of NEUTRIK A.G.
