Aureobasidium pullulans is a yeast-like fungus of the family Dothioraceae. It is a common
outdoor mold, found on a wide range of plant species as an epiphyte or endophyte. The
spores have no negative effect on the plant and do not cause any symptoms of disease.
Indoors, A. pullulans prefers wet surfaces with water such as shower curtains, tile grout
and caulking. It will grow on wood, leather and cloth, and also water-based paints. It can
grow on certain foods as well, such as grains and fruits. Clinically, A. pullulans is
recognized as a serious allergen.
While in the mildew form, A. pullulans can only become airborne if the water it is in
becomes aerosolized. However, it can produce airborne allergens once it dries out, and
has been found in high concentrations in home environments. A study conducted found
over 60% of patients with an allergy and/or asthma produced a positive skin test response
to A. pullulans. Sensitivity to A. pullulans is significantly associated with more severe
asthma.
Introduction to Aureobasidium pullulans
The PCR Max qPCR Kit for Aureobasidium pullulans (A.pullulans) genomes is designed
for the in vitro quantification of A.pullulans genomes. The kit is designed to have the
broadest detection profile possible whilst remaining specific to the A.pullulans genome.
The primers and probe sequences in this kit have 100% homology with a broad range of
A.pullulans sequences based on a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis.
If you require further information, or have a specific question about the detection profile of
this kit then please send an e.mail to help@pcrmax.com and our bioinformatics team will
answer your question.
