Please read this manual carefully and completely before you use the device for the first time.
The device may only be used by qualified personnel and repaired by PCE Instruments
personnel. Damage or injuries caused by non-observance of the manual are excluded from our
liability and not covered by our warranty.
The device must only be used as described in this instruction manual. If used
otherwise, this can cause dangerous situations for the user and damage to the meter.
The instrument may only be used if the environmental conditions (temperature,
relative humidity, …) are within the ranges stated in the technical specifications. Do
not expose the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, extreme humidity or
moisture.
Do not expose the device to shocks or strong vibrations.
The case should only be opened by qualified PCE Instruments personnel.
Never use the instrument when your hands are wet.
You must not make any technical changes to the device.
The appliance should only be cleaned with a damp cloth. Use only pH-neutral
cleaner, no abrasives or solvents.
The device must only be used with accessories from PCE Instruments or equivalent.
Before each use, inspect the case for visible damage. If any damage is visible, do not
use the device.
Do not use the instrument in explosive atmospheres.
The measurement range as stated in the specifications must not be exceeded under
any circumstances.
Never touch live parts during the measurement. There is danger to life due to electric
shock.
Do not touch the non-insulated parts of the measuring tips as this can cause electric
shock.
Before each measurement, make sure that the proper measurement range is selected
and that the test leads are connected correctly.
Resistance and diode tests must only be carried out on voltage-free parts and
conductors.
Non-observance of the safety notes can cause damage to the device and injuries to
the user.
We do not assume liability for printing errors or any other mistakes in this manual.
We expressly point to our general guarantee terms which can be found in our general terms of
business.
If you have any questions please contact PCE Instruments. The contact details can be found at
Use the function wheel to select the desired measuring function. You have 5 different settings:
1. Off
2. Voltage measurement (“V”)
3. Resistance measurement, diode test, continuity test (“Ω“)
4. Current measurement (“mA”)
5. Non-contact voltage measurement (“NCV”)
3.2 Mode button
With the mode button, you can switch between different measuring modes within the selected
measuring function. For example, you can switch between AC and DC measurement or
between resistance measurement, diode test and continuity test.
3.3 Range button
Use the range button to change the measuring range and accuracy of the selected function.
Keep in mind that the measuring range might be exceeded when changing switching to a
smaller measuring range. In this case, the display shows an overload indication. Switch to a
higher measuring range or to the auto measuring mode by pressing and holding the range
button for 2 seconds. If the overload indication does not disappear the parameter to be
measured is too high and cannot be measured with the multimeter. This might cause damage to
the device.
3.4 Hold button
By pressing the hold button, you can freeze the current reading on the display. The display
shows a hold indication. To unfreeze the reading, press the hold, range or mode button or use
the function wheel.
3.5 Voltage measurement
To use the voltage measurement function, connect the test lead to the device. Next, turn the tip
of the device clockwise until the measuring tip comes out. Select the voltage measurement
function by using the function wheel. Use the mode button to select AC or DC measurement.
Now you can perform a voltage measurement.
3.6 Resistance measurement
To use the resistance measurement function, connect the test lead to the device. Next, turn the
tip of the device clockwise until the measuring tip comes out. Select the resistance
measurement function by using the function wheel.
Now you can perform a resistance measurement.
3.7 Diode test
In order to use the diode test function, follow the steps in chapter 3.6 and press the mode button
to switch to the diode test function. Now you can check diodes.
In order to use the diode test function, follow the steps in chapter 3.6 and press the mode button
twice to switch to the continuity test function. If the resistance is lower than 150 Ω the device
gives out an acoustic signal.
3.9 Current measurement
To use the current measurement function, connect the test lead to the device. Next, turn the tip
of the device clockwise until the measuring tip comes out. Select the current measurement
function by using the function wheel. Use the mode button to select AC or DC measurement.
Now you can perform a current measurement.
3.10 Non-contact voltage test
The non-contact voltage test function can only be used on AC voltages. Use the function wheel
to select the non-contact voltage test. Now you can hold the tip of the device against the wire to
be tested. If the wire is live the red LED at the tip of the device will light up. The non-contact
voltage test can be performed at a distance of 3-4 cm.

5 Disposal
For the disposal of batteries in the EU, the 2006/66/EC directive of the European Parliament
applies. Due to the contained pollutants, batteries must not be disposed of as household waste.
They must be given to collection points designed for that purpose.
In order to comply with the EU directive 2012/19/EU we take our devices back. We either re-use
them or give them to a recycling company which disposes of the devices in line with law.
For countries outside the EU, batteries and devices should be disposed of in accordance with
your local waste regulations.
