1 Sicherheitsinformationen

Bitte lesen Sie dieses Benutzer-Handbuch sorgfältig und vollständig, bevor Sie das Gerät zum
ersten Mal in Betrieb nehmen. Die Benutzung des Gerätes darf nur durch sorgfältig geschultes
Personal erfolgen. Schäden, die durch Nichtbeachtung der Hinweise in der Bedienungsanleitung
entstehen, entbehren jeder Haftung.

• Dieses Messgerät darf nur in der in dieser Bedienungsanleitung beschriebenen Art und
Weise verwendet werden. Wird das Messgerät anderweitig eingesetzt, kann es zu
gefährlichen Situationen kommen.

• Verwenden Sie das Messgerät nur, wenn die Umgebungsbedingungen (Temperatur,
Luftfeuchte, …) innerhalb der in den Spezifikationen angegebenen Grenzwerte liegen.
Setzen Sie das Gerät keinen extremen Temperaturen, direkter Sonneneinstrahlung,
extremer Luftfeuchtigkeit oder Nässe aus.

• Setzen Sie das Gerät keinen Stößen oder starken Vibrationen aus.

vorgenommen werden.

• Benutzen Sie das Messgerät nie mit nassen Händen.

• Es dürfen keine technischen Veränderungen am Gerät vorgenommen werden.

• Das Gerät sollte nur mit einem Tuch gereinigt werden. Verwenden Sie keine

Scheuermittel oder lösungsmittelhaltige Reinigungsmittel.

• Das Gerät darf nur mit dem von der PCE Deutschland GmbH angebotenen Zubehör oder
gleichwertigem Ersatz verwendet werden.

• Überprüfen Sie das Gehäuse des Messgerätes vor jedem Einsatz auf sichtbare
Beschädigungen. Sollte eine sichtbare Beschädigung auftreten, darf das Gerät nicht
eingesetzt werden.

• Das Messgerät darf nicht in einer explosionsfähigen Atmosphäre eingesetzt werden.

• Der in den Spezifikationen angegebene Messbereich darf unter keinen Umständen

überschritten werden.

• Wenn die Sicherheitshinweise nicht beachtet werden, kann es zur Beschädigung des
Gerätes und zu Verletzungen des Bedieners kommen.

3 Systembeschreibung

Der PCE-SC 09 Schallkalibrator ist eine batteriebetriebene Schallquelle zur direkten und schnellen
Kalibrierung von Schallpegelmessgeräten und anderen Systemen zur Lärmmessung. Er kann
anhand von Adaptern auf ½ - und ¼- Zoll-Mikrofone aufgesetzt werden. Die Kalibrierfrequenz liegt
bei 1000 Hz. Dies ist die Bezugsfrequenz für die international standardisierten Bewertungskurven.
Somit können Sie mit diesem Kalibrator Schallmesstechnik mit A-, B-, C-, oder D- Bewertungsfilter
oder mit linearem Schallpegel kalibrieren. Der Kalibrierdruck liegt bei 94 ±0,3 dB (1 Pa) und 114
±0,3 dB (10 Pa).

4 Vorbereitung

4.1 Stromversorgung

Als Stromversorgung werden zwei 1,5 V AA Batterien benötigt. Bevor Sie die Batterien tauschen,
schalten Sie das Gerät aus. Das Batteriefach befindet sich auf der Rückseite des Geräts und ist mit
einer Abdeckung verschlossen. Nehmen Sie die Abdeckung ab, legen Sie die Batterien wie
gekennzeichnet ein und verschließen Sie das Batteriefach wieder mit der Abdeckung.

4.2 Inbetriebnahme

Um das Gerät zu starten, drücken Sie , bis das Display reagiert. Das Messgerät startet direkt mit
der Schallausgabe und zeigt auf dem Bildschirm den eingestellten Schallpegel an. Zum Umschalten
des Schallpegels drücken Sie jeweils auf die Taste des gewünschten Messbereichs. Zum

Ausschalten drücken Sie .

5 Betrieb

5.1 Kalibriervorbereitung

Zunächst müssen Sie entsprechend Ihrem Schallpegelmessgerät die passende Öffnungsgröße
auswählen. Standardmäßig lassen sich 1/1 Zoll Schallpegelmikrofone in die Öffnung einsetzen.
Nutzen Sie für 1/2 Zoll Mikrofone den mitgelieferten Adapter. Dieser lässt sich einfach in die
Standardöffnung einsetzen. Für ein 1/4 Zoll Mikrofon nutzen Sie den optionalen Adapter.

5.2 Kalibrierung

Hier wird der Ablauf der Kalibrierung für Schallpegelmessgeräte im Messbereich beider
Kalibrierpunkte beschrieben. Bei Schallpegelmessgeräten im Messbereich nur eines
Kalibrierpunkts können Sie nur Schritt 1-3 mit dem jeweiligen Schallpegel durchführen.

1. Nachdem Sie den Kalibrator eingeschaltet haben, wählen Sie über die Taste „94 dB“
den Schallpegel von 94 dB aus.

2. Setzen sie das Mikrofon vorsichtig bis zum Anschlag in die Öffnung des Kalibrators. Das
Schallpegelmessgerät sollte waagerecht in der Öffnung stecken, sodass eine möglichst
hohe Innendichtung vorliegt.

3. Warten Sie einen kurzen Moment, bis sich der Schallwert auf dem Messgerät
eingependelt hat. Nun können Sie die Justage für den 94 dB Schallpegel an dem
Messgerät vornehmen.

4. Wenn das Schallpegelmessgerät einen Messbereich von 114 dB vorweist, wählen Sie
über die Taste „114 dB“ den Schallpegel von 114 dB aus.

5. Vergleichen Sie den angezeigten Schallpegel des Messgeräts mit der
Kalibratoreinstellung von 114 dB. Wenn der Messwert in der Toleranz liegt, können Sie
die Kalibrierung beenden und das Messgerät vorsichtig aus dem Kalibrator
herausnehmen. Bei zu großer Abweichung müssen Sie den Vorgang bei Punkt 1 erneut
starten.

5.3 Auswirkung der Umgebungstemperatur und des Drucks

In Umgebungen mit normalem atmosphärischem Druck sind die Einflüsse generell zu
vernachlässigen. Jedoch sind Schallpegelkalibratoren einschließlich des PCE-SC 09 von
Höhenänderungen abhängig. Die Membran erzeugt im Schallkalibrator Schallwellen, die gegen die
Umgebungsluft arbeiten müssen. Wenn die Luft in höheren Lagen dünner wird und der
atmosphärische Druck sinkt, erzeugt der Kalibrator einen niedrigeren Schallpegel.
Der PCE-SC 09 Schallkalibrator erzeugt alle 610 m über Nullniveau 0,1 dB weniger. Die
Auswirkungen der Temperatur sind weniger stark. Der Schallpegelkalibrator hat einen
Temperaturkoeffizienten von 0 ... 0,01 dB/°C.

1 Safety notes

3 System description

The PCE-SC 09 sound level calibrator is a battery-powered wound source for direct and quick
calibration of sound level meters and other systems for noise measurement. With adaptors, it can
be placed on ½- and ¼-inch microphones. The calibration reference is 1000 Hz. This is the reference
frequency for the internationally standardised evaluation curves. This means that with this calibrator
you can calibrate sound level test equipment with A-, B-, C- or D weighting filters or with linear sound
levels. The calibration pressure is 94 ±0.3 dB (1 Pa) and 114 ±0.3 dB (10 Pa).

4 Getting started

4.1 Power supply

Two 1.5 V AA batteries are required as power supply. Before replacing the batteries, switch off the
meter. The battery compartment is located on the back of the device and is closed by a cover.
Remove the cover, insert the batteries as marked and place the cover back on the battery
compartment.

4.2 Preparation

To turn on the meter, press until the display shows a reaction. The meter directly starts with the
sound output and displays the set sound level. To switch the sound level, press the key for the

desired measurement range. To turn off the meter, press .

5 Operation

5.1 Preparation for calibration

First select the right aperture size for your sound level meter. As standard, 1/1 inch microphones
can be inserted into the aperture. Use the included adaptor for 1/2 inch microphones. The adaptor
can easily be inserted into the standard aperture. For a 1/4 inch microphone, use the optional
adaptor.

5.2 Calibration

The calibration procedure for sound level meters within the measurement range of both calibration
points is described below. For sound level meters within the measurement range of only one
calibration point, you can perform only the steps 1-3 with the respective sound level.

1. After turning on the calibrator, use the "94 dB" key to select the 94 dB sound level.

2. Carefully insert the microphone into the aperture of the calibrator as far as it will go. The
sound level meter should be placed in the aperture horizontally so that the inner seal is
as high as possible.

3. 3. Wait a short moment for the sound level displayed on the meter to stabilise. Now you
adjust the meter to the 94 dB sound level.

4. If the sound level meter has a measurement range of 114 dB, use the "114 dB" key to
select the sound level of 114 dB.

5. Compare the sound level displayed on the meter with the calibrator setting of 114 dB. If
the reading is within tolerance, you can finish the calibration and carefully remove the
meter from the calibrator. If the deviation is not acceptable, you must start again with step

1.

5.3 Effect of ambient temperature and pressure

In environments with normal atmospheric pressure, the influence is generally negligible. However,
sound level calibrators including the PCE-SC 09 are dependent on changes in altitude. The
diaphragm generates sound waves within the calibrator which have to work against the
environmental air. When the air at higher altitudes becomes thinner and the atmospheric pressure
decreases, the calibrator generates a lower sound level.
The PCE-SC 09 sound calibrator generates 0.1 dB less every 610 m above zero level. The effects
of the temperature are less severe. The sound level calibrator has a temperature coefficient of 0 ...

0.01 dB/°C.

7 Disposal

For the disposal of batteries in the EU, the 2006/66/EC directive of the European Parliament applies.
Due to the contained pollutants, batteries must not be disposed of as household waste. They must
be given to collection points designed for that purpose.

In order to comply with the EU directive 2012/19/EU we take our devices back. We either re-use
them or give them to a recycling company which disposes of the devices in line with law.

For countries outside the EU, batteries and devices should be disposed of in accordance with your
local waste regulations.
