1 Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a heating mantle from PCE Instruments. The PCE-HM 1000 / 5000 heating
mantles are used to heat or temper samples or chemicals in all types of laboratories. The case is made of
high-quality materials, with an antistatic painting. Inside the heating mantle, there is a mesh capable of
bearing a round-bottom flask with a volume of up to 1000 / 5000 ml. The rotary switch at the lower edge
allows the user to set the temperature to an individual value between 0 and 450 °C.
2 Safety notes
Please read this manual carefully and completely before you use the device for the first time. The device
may only be used by qualified personnel and repaired by PCE Instruments personnel. There is no
warranty of damages or injuries caused by non-observance of the manual.
- The device may only be used in the approved temperature range.
- The case should only be opened by qualified personnel of PCE Instruments.
- The instrument should never be placed with the user interface facing an object (e. g. keyboard side on a
table).
- You should not make any technical changes to the device.
- The appliance should only be cleaned with a damp cloth / use only pH-neutral cleaner.
- Only connect the device to grounded sources of power supply to protect persons and machinery.
- Be extremely cautious when dealing with inflammable, explosive or highly corrosive liquids. Please
make sure the temperature set is not too high.
- Ensure that the device stands on a solid and even surface.
- To avoid fire, make sure that the heating mantle and the outer surface of the round-bottom flask are dry.
- Please do not overfill the round bottom flask to avoid damage to the heating mantle caused by liquid
boiling over.
- Do not touch the area around the heating port during operation.
- The device must not be used in explosive atmospheres.
- Store the device in a dry and clean place without any chemical influences. Avoid moisture and physical
strain when transporting and storing the instrument.

4 Instructions
1. Place the device on a plain surface.
2. Fill the round-bottom flask and insert it into the heating mantle.
3. Enable power supply. The red lamp will light up.
4. Turn the rotary switch until you reach the desired temperature. The green lamp will light up.
5. The brightness of the lamp depends on the temperature you set.
5 Additional advice
1. The surface of the heating mantle is oiled. Therefore, please do not insert the round-bottom flask
immediately when first using the device. Heat up the device first and switch it off as soon as it emits
white smoke. Switch it back on as soon as the smoke disappears. Now you can operate the device
normally.
2. Please make sure to fill the round-bottom flask before inserting it into the heating mantle.

7 Disposal
For the disposal of batteries, the 2006/66/EC directive of the European Parliament applies. Due to the
contained pollutants, batteries must not be disposed of as household waste. They must be given to
collection points designed for that purpose.
In order to comply with the EU directive 2012/19/EU we take our devices back. We either re-use them or
give them to a recycling company which disposes of the devices in line with law.

1 Einleitung
Die Heizhauben PCE-HM 1000 / 5000 dienen zum Erhitzen bzw. Temperieren von Proben
oder Chemikalien in Laboren aller Art.
2 Charakteristiken
Das Gehäuse der Heizhaube besteht aus hochwertigen Materialien mit antistatischer
Lackierung, im inneren befindet sich ein Netz, in das ein Rundkolben mit einem Volumen von
bis zu 1000 / 5000 ml eingehängt wird. Der Drehschalter am unteren Rand ermöglicht eine
stufenlose Einstellung der Temperatur von 0 … 450°C.

4 Betriebsanweisungen
1. Platzieren Sie das Gerät auf der Arbeitsfläche.
2. Platzieren Sie den Rundkolben in der Heizhaube. (Befüllen Sie den Rundkolben vor
dem Einsetzen).
3. Schalten Sie die Stromversorgung an (Rote Lampe leuchtet auf).
4. Drehen Sie den Heizschalter auf die gewünschte Temperatur (Grüne Lampe leuchtet
auf).
5. Abhängig von der eingestellten Temperatur leuchtet die Lampe heller bzw. dunkler.

5 Sicherheitshinweise
1. Verbinden Sie das Gerät mit einer geerdeten Stromversorgung um die Sicherheit von
Mensch und Maschine zu gewährleisten.
2. Beim Umgang mit brennbaren, explosiven oder stark ätzenden Flüssigkeiten ist
äußerste Vorsicht geboten, achte Sie darauf dass Sie die Temperatur nicht zu hoch
einstellen.
3. Stellen Sie sicher, dass dieses Gerät auf einer festen und ebenen Oberfläche steht.
4. Reparaturen dürfen nur von ausgebildeten Personen durchgeführt werden.
5. Um die Brandgefahr zu verringern, gehen Sie sicher dass die Heizhaube sowie die
Außenseite des Rundkolbens trocken sind.
6. Achten Sie darauf dass Sie den Rundkolben nicht überfüllen, andernfalls könnte
überkochend Flüssigkeit die Heizhaube beschädigen.
7. Berühren Sie das Gerät nicht in der Nähe der Heizöffnung während es im Betrieb ist.
8. Lesen Sie die Gebrauchsanweisung gründlich durch, bevor Sie das Gerät in Betrieb
nehmen.
9. Das Messgerät darf nicht in einer explosionsfähigen Atmosphäre eingesetzt werden.
10. Wenn die Sicherheitshinweise nicht beachtet werden, kann es zur Beschädigung des
Gerätes und zur Verletzungen des Bedieners kommen
6 Hinweise zur Anwendung
1. Die Oberfläche der Heizhaube ist eingeölt, hängen Sie deshalb, bei Erstnutzung, den
Rundkolben nicht direkt ein. Heizen Sie das Gerät erst auf und schalten Sie es
wieder ab sobald weißer Rauch aufsteigt. Schalten Sie das Gerät wieder ein sobald
der Rauch verschwunden ist. Nun können Sie das Gerät normal nutzen.
2. Achten Sie darauf dass Sie den Rundkolben befüllen bevor Sie ihn in die Heizhaube
stellen.

8 Lagerung und Transport
Bewahren Sie das Gerät in einem trockenen und sauberen Raum ohne chemische Einflüsse
auf. Vermeiden Sie Nässe und Physikalische Belastungen beim Transport und bei der
Lagerung.
9 Entsorgung
Zur Umsetzung der ElektroG (Rücknahme und Entsorgung von Elektro- und Elektronikaltgeräten)
nehmen wir unsere Geräte zurück. Sie werden entweder bei uns wiederverwertet oder über ein
Recyclingunternehmen nach gesetzlicher Vorgabe entsorgt.
