Firmware Compatibility Notice

Due to the discontinuation of a memory circuit, COMSPHEREr Models 3810Plus, 3811Plus, 3920,
and 3921 have a new design. This new design contains hardware that will only operate correctly with
current and future versions of firmware. This affects models stamped with serial number 5106805
and greater. If you download a previous version of firmware to a model with serial number 5106805 or
greater, the unit will not operate correctly. You will then need to dial in to the Download Center
(number below) and download the correct firmware to restore the unit.

Modems with serial number 5106805 or greater will operate correctly only with the following firmware:

H Models 3810Plus, 3811Plus: Release P3.31.03 or above
H Models 3920, 3921: Release M4.11.02 or above

The serial number can be found on labels on the shipping carton and the modem. Firmware revision
level can be verified using the Status branch of the shared or integral Diagnostic Control Panel: select
Identity, then FRev#.

The modem this notice is shipped with already has compatible firmware loaded.
All versions of these modems are interoperable, and the new models can reside in a network where

some modems are at a previous software release. So updating existing networks to the new code is
not a requirement. However, Paradyne recommends that you run current firmware throughout your
network. This makes maintenance easier and allows you to enjoy the latest enhancements.

Update the firmware in your existing modems to the current software version by dialing the Download
Center at 1-727-530-7026 or by going to Paradyne’s Web site (www.paradyne.com) and
downloading the appropriate current release.
