Text Messaging
When you need to communicate
privately and quickly, use text
messaging.
• From the idle screen, tap Messages.
• Tap Create Message and type your
message.
• When you are finished, tap the
recipient field and tap the check box
by each recipient’s name.
• Tap OK > Send.
Adding a N ew Picture to a Message
• In a text message, tap Inser t >
Picture > Take New Picture.
• Focus on the objec t and tap .
• Finish your message and tap Send .
Instant Messaging
Chat in real time using your favorite ins tant
messenger provider such as A IM,® Yahoo!,®
or Windows Live.™ Log in on the go and stay
connected with your wireless pho ne.
• From the idle screen, tap Menu, then IM.
• Select your IM ser vice and tap OK.
• Enter your screen name/ID or emai l and
your password.
• Check the Auto Sign On/In box to be
automatically connected in the f uture.
Tap Sign In.
To use IM
• Once signed on, you’re ready to send ins tant
messages to your buddy list a lready set up
with your IM service.
• To exit IM, tap Options, the n Exit, then Sign Out.
Note: When you recei ve an incoming instant me ssage, a “new message” icon similar to this
one will appear on the screen.

Video Share
Share special moments as they hap pen – stream
live video directly to loved ones wi th Video Share.
Making a Video Share Call
• From the idle s creen, tap and dial the 10-digit
number of another 3G Video Share capa ble
device.*
• Once the c all is answered, tap Options and
then Video Share.
• You may share live or recorded video.
Tap Live.
Accepting a Video Share Call
• When a c aller initiates Video Share, their name
or number will appear in an invitat ion on your
screen.
• Tap Yes to accept and the Video Share sessio n
will begin automatically.
To end a Video Share session, tap Stop.
*Video Share is not available in all markets. Both parties must be in a 3G service area,
must appear by the signal bars prior to a call being placed, and both parties must remain in
the 3G coverage area for the duration of the Video Share session.

Mobile Email
Carry your email inbox in your pocket! With mobile
email, you can access numerous providers, including
AT&T, AOL,® Yahoo!,® Gmail,™ and Windows Live.™
• From the idle screen, tap Men u.
• Select Mobile Em ail.
• Select a provider by tap ping on it from the list.
• Enter your s creen name/ID or email and
password. Then tap S ign In.
• Tap the email mess age you want to access to
download its content.
• Tap Options to delete, reply, or forward.

• To send a picture message to an

Multimedia Me ssage. Your picture
will be inserted into a message screen.

Note: To record video, s elect Video Camera f rom the Options menu in the c amera.
Photos will automat ically be saved in Menu > C amera > My Pictures. Vid eos will
automatically b e saved in Menu > Camera > My V ideos.

Navigate with a tap or slide of your fin ger on
the Laser’s touchscreen .
Locking and Unlocking the Touchscreen
• Lock or unlock the phone’s displ ay by
pressing any hard key to turn on the
display, then touch and hold on
the screen.
Customizing the Apps and FAVs Screens
• From the idle s creen, scroll to the left to
navigate to the Apps screen or to the right
to navigate to the FAVs screen.
• Tap and select an item from the list
to add.
• If there are one or more items on the
screen, use to add or remove items.
• To reposition items, select the icon , drag it
to the desired position, and release i t.
Drawing Commander
Drawing Commander gives you fast access to
your favorite applications and items by tracing
shapes on the screen.
• To set a command, tap
Menu > Tools > Drawing Commander.
• Tap Setting > Add.
• Choose Dialer to dial a contac t or Shortcut
to add a favorite program or folder.
• Select a shape to assig n to your command
and tap Save.
• To use commands, tap
Menu > Tools > Drawing Commander,
then draw the command on the panel.

Multitasking
Multitask simultaneously with voice and data –while
on a call, you can browse the Web or send and
receive messages.
• If you’re on a call and want to launch another task,
press and hold the Up Volume key and scroll
through and select the task you want to launch.
• If you get a call while in another ta sk, you can
accept the call, then return to the ta sk after
the call has ended.
