1. REMOVING FROM PACKAGING AND PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION
1.1 Remove FLEX-OPTI-1RU from individual carton and bag. Figure 1 displays how FLEX-OPTI-1RU will be assembled after being removed from packaging.

1.2 The FLEX-OPTI-1RU is made up of 2 individual components, the rear insert and the front insert. To properly install the FLEX-OPTI-1RU, the rear insert must be separated from the front insert. To separate the rear insert, press down on the thumb latch and slide the rear insert away from the front insert.

2. INSTALLATION OF FLEX-OPTI-1RU INTO PANDUIT 1RU PATCH PANEL (PANDUIT PART NUMBER CFAPPBL1)
2.1 Slide the front insert into the patch panel opening (see figure 4) from the front of the patch panel in the orientation shown. Make sure the plungers attached to the front insert (see figure 4) are pulled back to the "unlocked" position when the FLEX-OPTI-1RU is slid into the proper holes.

2.2 Lock the front insert in place by pressing the plungers into the "locked" position once plungers have been inserted into the necessary holes in the patch panel.

2.3 Slide the rear insert of the FLEX-OPTI-1RU onto the front insert of the FLEX-OPTI-1RU in the orientation shown until an audible "click" is heard as the thumb latch on the front insert snaps into position when interacting with the square cutout on the rear insert.

3. INSTALLATION OF HD FLEX CASSETTES/MPO FAPS INTO FLEX-OPTI-1RU
Note: The FLEX-OPTI-1RU can accept (2) HD Flex Cassettes which have up to 6 ports in front of the cassette. Four port and
twelve port HD Flex Cassettes are not FAPs, HD Flex LC FAPs, HD Flex LC Splice Cassettes, HD Flex 4:1 Conversion Cassettes, and HD Dark Fiber Conversion Cassettes are all compatible to be used with FLEX-OPTI-1RU.

3.1 Slide the first cassette module into the lower cassette position in the orientation shown. LC Splice Cassettes are shown in the below pictures. (Panduit part number: FHS**N-12-**N, FHS**-12-**P, FHS**-12-**R)

Figure 12: For proper installation, HD Flex cassette fins are seated within the front slots located on the rear insert. For proper installation, HD Flex cassette ears are seated in the rear insert windows of the FLEX-OPTI-1RU.
3.2 Slide the second cassette module into the top cassette position, following the same procedure as Step 3.1.

4. FLEX-OPTI-1RU Compatible Patch Panels and Enclosures
Shown below is a table of patch panels and enclosures which accept the FLEX-OPTI-1RU. The installation steps explained above can be used to place the FLEX-OPTI-1RU into the necessary enclosure/patch panel.
