PRE-INSTALLATION GUIDE
** IMPORTANT **
Before the Panasonic installation representative arrives at your restaurant, we require that
contained in this manual.
If you have a new store, or are in the process of remodeling, give this manual to your
construction supervisor, electrical engineer, contractor and electrician so that they may
incorporate the system’s requirements into their construction plans.
It is your responsibility to provide the pre-installation
preparations before the Panasonic Representative
arrives. The system may not be installed if all the
preparations are not completed and
extra charges will be incurred.

Pre-Installation Requirements Checklist
Install the ORANGE ISOLATED GROUND (IG) electrical receptacles as
per the enclosed specifications.
Install the CAT5 data communications cable as per the enclosed
specifications.
Install a CAT5 data communications cable from the switch to the
burger chute order printer.
Install the CAT5 kitchen video monitor system (KVS) VIDEO cable as per
the enclosed specifications.
Install the CAT5 cable for the kitchen video monitor system (KVS) BUMP
BAR as per the enclosed specifications.
Install the 30’ Audio Cable from the bump bar to the Grill Monitor as
per enclosed specifications
Install the kitchen video monitor system (KVS) MONITOR MOUNT
BRACKETS. Installation instructions are included with each mounting
bracket. Please refer to the building plans for mounting locations.
Cut the 1 ½” HOLES in the counters for the cables to pass through.
Holes should be center of where the cash register sits, approximately 6” in from the front of the cash register center.
The CASH DRAWER dimensions are 17 ½” Wide X 18 ¾” Deep X 4 ¾”
High (tight measurement).
A QSR representative will be contacting you prior to your installation to confirm the completion of the pre-installation checklist.

ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
The most probable cause of a system malfunction is due to improper electrical wiring. The following electrical requirements MUST be met before the installatio n to prevent problems.
* The complete system, including touch screen terminals, video monitors, printers,
kitchen video controller and the back office computer MUST be on a single DEDICATED circuit originating at the main breaker.
* The dedicated circuit must be 120V, 60 Hz, 15 amps, 3 wire (including ground). * The ground wire must connect to a primary isolated ground, NOT to a con duit or
gas pipe.
AC WIRING (TO BE COMPLETED BE THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR)
1) All components in the POS system are to be connected to a dedicated AC line.
2) There should only be one AC line originating at the main panel for the store.
3) A 15 AMP breaker is sufficient.
4) The AC line must have an isolated ground and utilize HUBBEL IG5262 – DUPLEX ORANGE receptacles.
5) AC wire must be run in conduit that contains 3 wires HOT – NEUTRAL – GROUND.
6) No other wiring for other conduits can be run in this conduit.
7) You may use BX instead of conduit.
8) Voltage provided in 117.5 VAC (+/- 15%).
9) Ground wires must be INSULATED.
10) An ISOLATED ground wire is required and should be run from the receptacles to the main building ground.
11) You may also run the gro und to a water pipe AS WELL AS the main ground.
An orange duplex, 3 wire, grounded receptacle must be installed at the following locations:
Every touch screen terminal site including the drive-thru and kiosk
(maximum 3 feet from the device)
The main network rack, patch panel/switch. This is located above the
manager’s desk cupboard between the top of the cupboard and ceiling tile or on t he top shelf inside the cupboard if there is no space on top.
The front line expeditor monitor (maximum 2 ½’ from the monitor)
The grill monitor (maximum 2 ½’ from the monitor)
The fryer monitor (maximum 2 ½’ from the monitor)
The prep monitor if applicable (maximum 2 ½’ from the monitor)
The drive-thru monitor if applicable (maximum 2 ½’ from the monitor)
The back office computer. If the computer is to be located inside the
cupboard of the manager’s desk.
