Do not mix old and new batteries, different
types of batteries (standard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or
rechargeable batteries of different capacities.
To power the system using an A C adapter, connect the
adapter’s 2.1 mm inner dia meter/5.5 mm ou ter diameter

must be set to negative, and its plug must correctly fit the
speaker’s
R

6VDC
meets these specificat ions. Using an adapter that does
not meet these specifications could seriously damage the

Your AMX 2 speakers have tw o operational modes: amplified (boost) or unamplified (direct). Use the boost mode
with low-powered sound boards and other audi o sources
that have just enough power to drive a set of headphones
or earphones. Use the direct mode when you connect the
speakers to an audio source that has sufficient po wer to
drive the speakers without amplification.
If the sound level is too low when us ing the unamplified

The following suggestions will help you care for the system so you can enjoy it for years.
• Handle the speakers gently a nd carefully. Dropping
them can damage them and cause them to work
improperly.
• Keep the speakers dry. If they get wet, wipe them dry
immediately. Liquids contain minerals that can corrode electronic circuits.
• Wipe the speakers occasionally with a damp cloth to
keep them looking new. Do not use harsh ch emica ls,
cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the
speakers.
• Use only fresh batteries of the recommended size
and type. Always remove old or weak batteries. They
can leak chemicals that destroy electronic circuits.
Modifying or tampering with the speaker system’s internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate the warranty. If the speakers are not performing as
they should, take them to your local RadioShack store for
assistance.
