nThe wirelesscommunication can be enabled or disabled byconnecting or disconnecting the LAN cable. ( WirelessConnection Disable Utility)

Using airplane mode*1

(For wirelessLAN, wirelessWAN, Bluetooth, and GPS)

1. Display “Charm”, and touch

- [Change PC Settings] - [Network] - [Airplane mode] *1.

(Depending on the language preference, some screen messagesin these instructionsare different from the actualscreen messages. For example, [Flight mode]/[WiFi] maybe displayed instead of [Airplane mode]/[Wi-Fi] in some language preference.)

To check the wireless communication status

1.Touch on the notification area and place the cursor over the Wireless Switch Utility icon ( or ). Atooltipappears.

The Wireless Switch Utility icon

Theiconappearswhentouch onthenotificationarea. Itshowsthestatusofwirelessdevices.

: Indicates that the wireless devices are enabled.

: Indicates that the wireless devices are off.

: Indicates that the wireless devices have been disabled in the Setup Utility.

nYoucancheckthewirelessLAN communicationstatusinIntel® PROSet/WirelessSoftware. Perform thefollowingprocedure. Touch (Start) - [AllPrograms] - [IntelPROSetWireless] - [WiFiAdvancedStatistics].

Wireless Switch Utility

Thisutilityalsoallowsyoutoenableor disablewirelessdevicesfrom apop-upmenu. Inthedefaultsetting,allwirelessdevicesareenabled.

To enable or disable particular wireless devices

1.Touch the Wireless Switch Utility icon to show the pop-up menu.

2.Select ON or OFF for the device you want to enable or disable.

Wireless Connection Disable Utility

YoucanautomaticallydisablethewirelessLAN/wirelessWAN connectionwhenaLAN cableisconnectedtoyour computer. YouneedtoinstalltheWirelessConnectionDisableUtilitytousethisfunction.

Installing the utility

1.LogontoWindowsasanadministrator.

2.Touch (Start),input"c:\util\wdisable\setup.exe" in[Searchprogramsandfiles],andpress Enter .

3.Follow theon-screeninstructionstoinstalltheWirelessConnectionDisableUtility.

Checking the status of the wireless connection

N O TE

nTheWirelessSwitchUtilityshouldalsobeinstalledsothattheWirelessConnectionDisableUtilityworks. TheWirelessSwitchUtilityhasalready beeninstalledatthefactory.

nTheutilitydoesnotautomaticallydisabletheBluetoothconnection.

Status indication

After installation,theWirelessConnectionDisableUtilityisautomaticallystartedafter auser isloggedin. Aniconappearswhenyoutouch onthe notificationarea.
