CONCEPT
The PGA-04 ADIG-LB is the result of our efforts to further develop our legendary speaker simulator PDI03, which has proven itself both live and in the recording studios worldwide and is being used by artists
such as Keith Richards/Rolling Stones, Eric Lifeson/Rush, Warren Cucurullo/Duran Duran, Eddie Van
Halen/Van Halen and Def Leppard, just to name a few.
The PGA-04 ADIG-LB (Advanced Direct Injection for Guitar-Load Box, our registered trademark) offers
the guitar player, sound engineer and producer, a new world of sonic possibilities far beyond the
restrictions of the usual speaker/microphone setup. Built in one rack space, the PGA-04 is a monopassive speaker simulator with an internal 8ohm load-box capable of handling 120 watts of continuous
power with LED’s metering the input power. The unique and variable filter circuit with volume controls
will help you to shape your tone and mix both filtered and unfiltered signals to your own sound. The
unit includes one balanced XLR and two unbalanced 1/4in. outputs and a speaker thru jack, giving
you the option of using a speaker instead of the internal load circuit. From the studio/touring
professional to the beginner needing to practice silently through your amplifier, the PGA-04 offers you
a wide range of sounds and interface options right at your fingertips, giving you a great alternative to
conventional micing without the disadvantages of signal bleed, loud room/stage level or bad room
acoustics.
Note: The PGA-04 is a totally passive unit, no batteries or external power is needed. It only accepts
speaker level input and must be patched at the speaker output of your amplifier. Since the internal
load-box converts the amplifier’s output power to heat, the unit must be properly mounted in your rack
so the vents are not covered and the heat can dissipate.
CONNECTIONS
Connecting your amplifier to the PGA-04:
Connect your amplifier speaker output to the Speaker Input jack of the PGA-04 by using a good
quality speaker cable, 0.75mm/18 gauge minimum. If your amplifier has a speaker impedance
selector switch, set it for 8ohm or use the appropriate output jack, marked 8ohm.
If you want to use your speaker cabinet instead of the internal load, plug the cabinet into the speaker
thru-jack. In this application the internal load is bypassed and the LED meter circuit is bypassed. Since
the internal 8ohm load is bypassed, you simply need to match the impedance of the amp to the
speakers, 4, 8 or 16 ohm. The internal load can handle 120 watts, but when using a speaker cabinet,
you may use an amplifier up to 200 watts.
