ATTENUATOR
Before making any connections set this switch to match the PDI 03
JB to your input source. Select the 24 dB setting for amplifiers
with a maximum output of 200 watts, switch to 12 dB for low-wattage
amps with a maximum ouput of 10 watts, or use the 0 dB setting for
line level preamps and instrument level pedals.
2
INPUT
Connect the speaker output of your amplifier to this jack using a
quality ¼” plug loudspeaker cable. To connect preamps and pedals
use a quality ¼” plug instrument cable.
3
THRU
Connect this jack to your guitar speaker or cabinet using a quality
¼” plug loudspeaker cable.
WARNING: FOR DIRECT RECORDING FOR YOUR AMP WITHOUT A LOUDSPEAKER OR
CABINET, CONNECT A DUMMY LOAD WITH EQUIVALENT OHMS RATING TO THIS
JACK (E.G. THE PALMER PDI 06).
NEVER USE THE PALMER PDI 03 JB WITHOUT A SPEAKER OR SUITABLE LOAD
CONNECTED TO THIS JACK TO PREVENT SEVERE DAMAGE TO YOUR AMP!
NOTE: NO LOAD IS REQUIRED WHEN USING THE PDI 03 JB WITH PREAMPS AND
PEDALS.
4
BALANCED
This XLR output provides a transformer balanced feed of the
frequency compensated signal for DI. Connect the XLR socket to the
microphone input of a mixing console, recording gear or soundcard
using a quality microphone cable.
ENFRDEES

5
UNBALANCED
This ¼” output provides an unbalanced feed of the frequency
compensated signal, e.g. for further processing. Use a quality
¼” plug instrument cable to connect this jack to any outboard
equipment.
NOTE: THE BALANCED AND UNBALANCED OUTPUTS CAN BE USED
SIMULTANEOUSLEY.
6
DEEP-NORMAL-FLAT VOICING SWITCH
This 3-position switch adjusts the low frequency filter. Select
the DEEP setting for a strong bottom end similar to that of a
closed-back cabinet, NORMAL for linear response or FLAT for
open-back cabinet characteristics with a moderate bass cut.
7
BRIGHT-NORMAL-MELLOW VOICING SWITCH
This 3-position switch adjusts the mid to high frequency filter.
Select the BRIGHT setting for a clear, cutting high end similar to
a guitar played straight into the mixing desk, NORMAL for linear
response or MELLOW for a rich, warm tone with a smooth treble
roll-off.
8
JB SWITCH
This 3-position switch is exclusive to the PDI 03 JB and best
described as the kind of effect that classic overdrive pedals have
on your guitar’s frequency response: it adds a midrange bump to
your signal that goes with a gradual bass roll-off. Select the
MEDIUM position for a wide mid boost and the HEAVY setting for a
more pronounced narrow peak. The JB switch adds presence, focus and
cutting power to bring your guitar sound to the fore.
NOTE: THE DUAL FILTER AND JB SWITCHES ARE HIGHLY INTERACTIVE BY
DESIGN. THE SETTING DESCRIPTIONS ABOVE ARE ROUGH GUIDELINES ONLY.
