Recharging Power To Go

You can recharge Power To Go with a charging cradle or with any Palm™ Travel Charger.

To recharge Power To Go:

Connect the recharging pack to the cradle or Palm Travel Charger.
TIP You can recharge Power To Go by itself, or you can recharge your handheld and Power To Go at the same time. If you recharge both units together, the handheld will recharge first, followed by Power To Go. Time required to charge both units is approximately equal to the total of the time it would take to recharge each unit separately.

Using Power To Go to recharge your handheld

Using Power To Go to recharge your handheld
Recharging your handheld with Power To Go will take approximately the same amount of time as if you recharged your handheld with a cradle or cable.
For optimal performance, fully recharge Power To Go before using it to recharge your handheld.
NOTE Before recharging your handheld with Power To Go, it is recommended that you set the Preferences on your handheld so that the screen will stay off when the handheld is plugged into a cradle. If this is not done, the handheld will recognize Power To Go as a cradle and the screen will stay on during recharging, slowly draining the batteries.

To recharge your handheld with Power To Go:

1. Hold down the buttons on the sides of the recharging pack.
2. Slide your handheld’s universal connector into the 16-pin connector on the
front of the recharging pack.
3. Press the recharging pack against the handheld.
5

Detaching Power To Go from your handheld

4. Release the buttons.
5. Follow the instructions for your handheld to determine when it is fully charged.
If your handheld has an LED that indicates charging status, it will light.
NOTE For handhelds with an LED that indicates charging status, promptly remove the recharging pack from your handheld after the handheld is fully charged. If the recharging pack is not removed, the handheld’s LED will remain lit, slowly draining the handheld’s batteries.
You may continue to use your handheld while it is being recharged. This may cause the recharging process to take longer than it would if the handheld was not being used at the same time.
Detaching Power To Go from your handheld

To detach your recharging pack from your handheld:

1. Hold down the buttons on the sides of the recharging pack.
2. Tilt the handheld forward and lift it up.

Getting the most out of Power To Go

Getting the most out of Power To Go
Power To Go is designed to be rugged and reliable, and to provide you with years of trouble-free service. Please observe the following general tips when using your recharging pack.

Tips

Keep your recharging pack clean. Oil, grease, sand, or dirt can foul the charging
connectors and prevent proper operation. Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean your recharging pack. Take care not to snag or bend the charging connectors.
Do not expose your recharging pack to rain or moisture. Under extreme
conditions, water may enter the circuitry through the front panel button and the charging connectors. In general, treat your recharging pack as you would a pocket calculator or other small electronic instrument.
Take care not to drop your recharging pack or subject it to any strong impact.
Do not carry it in your back pocket; if you sit on it, you may damage it.
Protect your recharging pack from temperature extremes. For example, do not
leave it on the dashboard of a car on a hot day, or on a day when temperatures are below freezing, and keep it away from heaters and other heat sources.
Do not store or use your recharging pack in any location that is damp, wet, or
extremely dusty.
If you ever dispose of your Power To Go unit, please dispose of it without
damaging the environment. Take your Power To Go unit, containing its built-in lithium ion batteries, to your nearest environmental recycling center.

Safe handling instructions

Power To Go is factory-sealed and contains no user serviceable parts. DO NOT
OPEN THE CASE of your recharging pack for any reason. If the case is cracked or broken open, discontinue use and contact Palm for service.
To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose to rain or moisture.
Do not handle if the lithium ion batteries are damaged or leaking.
There is a danger of explosion if Power To Go is recharged by products other
than those produced by Palm.
Batteries may present a fire or chemical burn hazard if mistreated.
Do not heat above 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Do not allow metal objects to touch the terminals.
Do not drop the recharging pack or place heavy objects on it. Do not apply
strong pressure or physical shock to the unit. These actions may cause the recharging pack to malfunction.
Do not use your handheld or attach the Power To Go recharging pack to your
handheld in any potentially hazardous area, such as refueling points (service stations); the area below deck on boats; chemical transfer or storage facilities; vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (such as propane or butane); areas where the air contains chemicals or particles, such as grain, dust or metal powders; and any other area where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death. Be sure to obey all safety signs and instructions in such areas.
It is recommended to switch off your handheld and detach the Power To Go
recharging pack before boarding any aircraft.
