Please read this manual before use.
Oxford Electronic Bench Scales are designed to run on AC power (AC adaptor included) or
4 x AA batteries (supplied). The batteries should be installed in the battery compartment,
which is located on the underside of the base unit.
The AC adaptor allows the scales to be operated via 240V mains electricity supply, and
connects to the scales via the adaptor housing to the rear of the electronic display unit.
To install batteries, remove the battery cover on the underside of the base unit and insert
the 4 x AA batteries, making sure that you have the correct polarity, as indicated on the
base unit battery housing. Reposition the battery housing cover and reinsert the screws to
secure.
Note: Only use the scales on a flat and stable surface. Make sure that the chosen surface is
sturdy enough to support the weight of the scales and the items to be weighed. The height
of the base unit can be adjusted by turning the feet in an anti-clockwise direction to raise
and a clockwise direction to lower the base unit.

(a) With the power OFF, press and hold the PRINT key, and press the ON/OFF key until the
indicator displays “A.OFF.X” (X=0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 minutes), the display value “X” is
the auto-off time. When the display is “0” auto-off is disabled.
(b) To change the auto-off time, press the UNIT key which will increase the X value by 1.
Press the TARE key to confirm the auto-off time.
(c) To exit the auto-off time programme, press ON/OFF, which will reset the diplay.
The factory setting is X=0.
When the ON/OFF key is pressed the display will initially be shown as 60.00kg
(OXD-844-6010K) or 120.00kg (OXD-844-5030K), when the scale resets itself to 0.00 the
scale is ready for use and the following operations are enabled:
(a) To change the unit of measurement on the display, press the UNIT key. This toggles the
display between kg and lb.
(b) If an item is to be weighed in a container, the weight of the container can be subtracted
by placing it on the scales and resetting the zero point. The maximum weight at which
the zero point can be reset is 25% of the total capacity. This operation is activated by
pressing the ON/OFF key for 2 seconds. If the ON/OFF key is depressed for a greater
length of time, the scales will be turned off.
4. Advanced Operating Instructions
Calibration
(c) Press the TARE key to tare or zero the scale after the scales have been used in the
manner described in Section 3(b).
(d) When the scales are connected to a computer via the RS232 interface, data can be
transferred through the RS232 port. To transmit data in this manner press the PRINT
key. Data will be transmitted through the RS232 port.
Please note: The combined tare and net weight must not exceed the capacity of the
scales.
Display messages are generated in certain circumstances and should be interpreted as
follows:
(i) 60.00/120.00 The scales capacity is 60kg or 120kg and has not yet set itself to
its stable zero point.
(ii) 0 The zero setting is too high.
(iii) A.OFF.X Indicates auto-off time.
(iv) CAL-0 Calibration zero indicator.
(v) CAL-F Calibration full capacity indicator.
(vi) CAL..Er Calibration error.
(vii) Ach.Er Analogue channel error.
(viii) EEP.Er Read/Write error.

Protocols
When scale’s “P” is pressed or the carriage return (0d hex) is received, PS-103 scale will
transmit weight, unit, stability, over/down or low voltage message according to the following
protocol:
Baud rate : 9600bps
Start bit : 1 bit
Data bits : 8 bits
Stop bit : 1 bit
Parity : none
The calibration of this product requires specialist tools and should only be carried out by
persons with appropriate skills/qualifications. Should you experience any problems please
return the goods to your supplier, who will arrange professional calibration of the scales.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD MAINTENANCE OR CALIBRATION BE ATTEMPTED
