Introduction
The Deluxe Standing sling is an easy t sling suitable for standing and supporting. It is not a general
purpose sling and clients should be assessed as to their suitability. The Deluxe Transport sling is an easy
t general purpose sling giving full support to most clients. It will not suit double amputees or lifting from
a horizontal position.
Special Sling Orders
On occasions, material, dimensional and other changes outside of the standard specication are requested.
Please be advised, that aside of any model specic references, tting, washing and safety guidelines
remain applicable. If you are in any doubt, please contact your authorised Oxford service agent or Joerns
Healthcare directly.
Statement of Intended Use
A sling is an item of moving and handling equipment that is used with a mechanical lift in order to facilitate
the transfer of a patient. It comprises a specially designed and constructed piece of fabric that is placed
under and/or around a patient before being attached to the spreader bar/cradle of a lift to raise, transfer and
lower the patient. When selected and used correctly, a sling and lift combination will achieve a safer transfer
and reduce the risks associated with manual handling.
It is the responsibility of a competent person to conduct a thorough risk assessment prior to using any
sling, to ensure that the sling choice, method of positioning in the sling and procedure for transfer has been
correctly determined for the patient. For further guidance, please contact your authorised Oxford Service
Provider or Joerns Healthcare.

Expected Service Life
The expected service life of an Oxford sling will vary dependent on use and following the care and washing
instructions provided in the user guide. Factors such as wash temperature, detergents, frequency of use
and patient weight will impact on the lifetime of your sling. Joerns Healthcare recommend that slings are
checked each and every time prior to use to ensure the safety of the patient. Bleached, torn, cut, frayed
or broken slings are unsafe and must be discarded and replaced. It is a requirement under LOLER (Lifting
Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) that slings are thoroughly checked and passed t
for use. For further advice, please contact your authorised Oxford Service Provider or Joerns Healthcare.
WARNING
• OXFORD RECOMMENDS THE USE OF GENUINE OXFORD PARTS. Oxford sling and lift
products are designed to be compatible with one another. For country specific guidance
on sling use and compatibility, please refer to the sling label or contact your local market
distributor or Joerns Healthcare.
• For the safety of the patient and carer; before using a sling a full risk assessment must be
conducted to ensure that the correct sling choice, method of positioning in the sling and
procedure for transfer has been determined for the patient.
• CHECK sling and stitching before each use. Using bleached, torn, cut, frayed or broken
slings is unsafe and could result in serious injury or death to the patient.
• DO NOT alter slings. Destroy and discard worn slings.
• NEVER leave a patient unattended.
• DO NOT exceed the rated capacity of the sling or lift.
• DO NOT attempt to re-position a patient by pulling on the sling loops.

NOTE: THIS SLING IS NOT A GENERAL-PURPOSE SLING AND WILL NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL
CLIENTS.
TIPS FOR USE:
CLIENT SHOULD BE ASKED TO LEAN BACK INTO THE SLING FOR THE DURATION OF THE LIFT.
TALLER CLIENTS MAY NEED TO USE SHORTER LOOPS ON THE SLING FROM THE START.
SHOULD THE CLIENT START TO LOSE TRUNK CONTROL YOU WILL FIND THAT THE SLING WILL
SLIP UP BENEATH THE ARMPITS MAKING THE LIFT UNSAFE. IN THIS SITUATION THE TRANSPORT
SLING CAN BE USED PROVIDING A RISK ASSESSMENT IS COMPLETED.
Place sling down behind client’s back between
base of shoulder blades and bottom of rib cage.
Attach strap around the front of the client. This
strap need not be tight. It is there to hold the sling
in position whilst attaching the sling to the stand
aid. Ensure that the client’s arms are outside the
sling.

Position standaid so that the client’s feet t in
the foot trays and knees rest against the knee
pad. Initially attach the longer loops of the sling
to the white hooks at the end of the hand grips.
The client’s hands should be placed on the black
hand grips or support handles. (Once the client
is used to the lift, the shorter loops may be used
to achieve a more upright position). Then push
the up button on hand control to raise the client
to the standing position.

Fitting the Deluxe Transport Sling
ENSURE THAT YOUR CLIENT’S HEAD IS SUPPORTED AT ALL TIMES
Raise the client’s leg and feed the leg strap
under, and then up between the legs. Ensure
that the sling is not twisted or creased under the
thigh. Repeat this procedure for the other leg.
Attach the loops on the top of the sling to the
white hooks at end of hand grips.
Without crossing loops on the leg straps, attach
to left and right black knobs on the lifting fork(s).
You would normally use the middle of the three
loops. You are then ready to raise the client from
the seat and transport. Once clear of the seat,
the client will be more comfortable if lowered
back to sitting position.

Feed the sling down the back of the client leaving
the top of the commode aperture at the base of
the spine. Check the sling is square across the
client’s base.
Attach the strap around the chest of the client.
This strap need not be tight, it is there to hold the
sling in position whilst attaching the sling to the
Standaid. Ensure client’s arms are on the outside of the sling.

Washing Instructions
Machine wash at 85ºC.
DO NOT wash with bleach. Bleach will damage the sling’s material and make it unsafe for use.
Cool tumble dry, air dry or dry at very low temperature.
DO NOT dry clean.

Commandes Spéciales Pour Sangles
Les sangles peuvent parfois être commandées avec des spécications particulières, à savoir dans un
matériau ou des dimensions différentes. Il convient de noter que les consignes relatives à l’installation, au
lavage et à la sécurité sont applicables à tous les modèles, qu’ils soient standard ou personnalisés. En cas
de doute, contactez votre revendeur Oxford agréé ou Joerns Healthcare directement.
Usage prévu
Une sangle est un composant d’un équipement d’aide au déplacement, utilisée avec un lève-personne
mécanique an de faciliter le transfert d’un patient. Elle se compose d’une toile spécialement conçue et
fabriquée, qui vient se placer sous et/ou autour du patient avant d’être attachée à la barre d’écartement/
arceau d’un pèse-personne an d’élever, de transférer et d’abaisser le patient. Utilisés correctement, la
sangle et le lève-personne assurent un transfert sécurisé et réduisent les risques associés aux manipulations manuelles.
Il incombe à la personne compétente de procéder à une évaluation des risques avant d’utiliser une sangle,
an de s’assurer que le choix de la sangle, la méthode de positionnement dans la sangle et la procédure de
transfert conviennent au patient. Pour plus de conseils, veuillez contacter votre fournisseur agréé Oxford

Durée de vie prévue
La durée de vie prévue d’une sangle Oxford varie selon l’usage qui en est fait et le respect des consignes
d’entretien énoncées dans le manuel d’utilisation. Des facteurs tels que la température de lavage, les détergents utilisés, la fréquence d’utilisation et le poids du patient auront un impact sur la durée de vie de la
sangle. Joerns Healthcare recommande d’inspecter les sangles avant chaque utilisation, an de garantir
la sécurité du patient. Une sangle présentant des taches d’eau de Javel, déchirée, coupée ou eflochée
représente un danger et doit être mise au rebut et remplacée. La réglementation LOLER (Lifting Operations
and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) exige l’examen minutieux des sangles an de garantir qu’elles
