NOTE: This equipment has b een tested and found to comply with the limit s for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Par t 15 of the FCC Rules.
These li mits are de signed to pr ovide reasona ble protecti on against h armful inter ference in a residential installation. This equipmen t generates, uses and can radiate radio f requency ener gy and, if not inst alled and used in a ccordance with the in structions, may cause harmful interference to radi o communications. How ever, there is no guarantee that i nterference will n ot occur in a particul ar installation. If t his equipment
does cau se harmful i nterference to radio or television rec eption, which can be de termined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is
encouraged to t ry and correct th e interference by on e or more of the followin g measures:
• Reorient or re locate the receivin g antenna.
• Increase the se paration betwe en the equipment and re ceiver.
• Connect the e quipment into an outle t on a circuit different f rom that to which the recei ver is connected.
Health And Sa fety Precautions
• Use proper anti-st atic precautions while perf orming the installation of your hard drives into this drive enclo sure. Failure to do so can cause
damage to your dri ve mechanisms, and / or th e hard drive enclosure.
• Read this User’s Gu ide carefully, and foll ow the correct proce dure when settin g up the device.
• Do not open your hard drive o r attempt t o disassemble or modif y it. Neve r insert a ny metallic object into the drive to avoid any risk of
electric al shock, fire, s hort-circuitin g or dangerous em issions. Your hard dri ve contains no user-s erviceable pa rts. If it app ears to be malfunctioni ng, have it inspected b y a qualified Other Worl d Computing Technical Supp ort represent ative.
• Never expose your dev ice to rain, or use it near water, or in damp or wet conditions. Never place obje cts containing liqui ds on the drive, as
they may spill into it s openings. Doing s o increases the risk of el ectrical shoc k, short-circu iting, fire or person al injury.
General Use Pre cautions:
• Do not expose the har d drive to temperatures out side the range of 5° C to 40° C (41° F to 104° F). Doing so may damage the drive or disfi gure its c asing. Avoid plac ing your drive near a source o f heat or exp osing it to sun light (even through a window). Invers ely, placing your
drive in an enviro nment that is too cold or humi d may damage the unit.
• Always unplug the hard drive fro m the electric al outlet if there i s a risk of lightning o r if it will be unus ed for an extend ed period of tim e.
Otherwis e, there is an increased r isk of electrica l shock, short- circuiting or fire.
• Use only the powe r supply shipped wit h the device.
• Do not use the hard drive near othe r electrical a ppliances such as te levisions, radios o r speakers. Doin g so may cause inter ference which
will adverse ly affect the oper ation of the other produ cts.
• Do not pl ace the drive near sources of magnetic inter ference, such as computer dis plays, television s or speakers . Magnetic inte rference
can affect th e operation and stab ility of your hard dri ve.
• Do not place heav y objects on top of t he drive or use excessive f orce on it.
• Never use excess ive force on your drive. If yo u detect a problem , consult the Troubleshoot ing section in this ma nual.
• Protect you r hard drive from excessive exposu re to dust during use or storage. D ust can build up inside the device, i ncreasing the ris k of
damage or malf unction.
• Other World Comp uting recommends th e use of normal glass cleani ng products to keep th e high lustre finish at it’s fine st with this product. Be sure to n ot get any moisture insid e the holes and if you do, all ow time to air dry befo re use.
• Do not block the ventilati on outlets on the rear of the drive. Thes e help to keep your drive cool during ope ration. Blocking the vent ilation
outlets may ca use damage to your drive an d cause an increased ri sk of short-circui ting or fire.
