Fitting Delta
For the ideal cosmetic appearance and most comfortable fi t with Delta please consider the following:
• Selection of correct speaker unit length
• Selection of correct dome size
Correct insertion of speaker in the ear
• Use of the ear grip, if necessary
Page 9
11
Selecting Speaker Unit Length
The speaker unit is available in four lengths and in left/right versions. No. 1 is the shortest and no. 4 is the longest. The lengths most commonly used are 2 and 3.
The speaker should sit comfortably and hidden in the ear canal. The wire should be fl ush with the skin, and the top of the amplifi er should sit horizontally on top of the ear, behind the pinna.

4
Use the measuring tool to select the correct speaker unit length. Place the measuring tool on the ear, as shown. Choose the length corresponding to the size-marking on the measuring tool at the top of the ear canal opening.
Page 11
13
Attaching the speaker unit
Slide the speaker unit into the plug. Slide only in the direction of the plug. Do not force the speaker unit plug downward. When the plug is in place, give it a fi rm push.
123
Page 12
14
Replacing the speaker unit
Gently pull off the speaker unit. Pull only in the direction of the plug. Do not pull upwards as this may damage the plug.

&
Page 13
15
Attaching the ear grip
The ear grip should be used to obtain a more secure retention in the ear canal. It is available in one version for both left and right ears. Insert the ear grip into the slot in the receiver.
Important: Pull the ear grip through the slot until the top of the grip is positioned inside the slot and pointing away from the dome, as illustrated. If it is incorrectly inserted, the ear grip might be diffi cult to place in the concha.
&
&
Page 14
16
If the ear grip seems too long in the concha, you may cut/trim it to the desired length. Take care not to leave a sharp and pointy end when cutting as this can cause irritation in the ear.
Taking off the ear grip
Page 15
17
Use a fi nger nail to dislodge the ear grip from the slot then push it through from the other side.
Page 16
18
Inserting and placing the device on the ear
1. Insert the speaker with an attached dome/Micro Mold into the ear canal.
2. Place the amplifi er behind the ear.
The speaker unit with the dome/Micro Mold should be placed far enough into the ear so that the speaker wire lies fl ush with the client’s head. When looking at your client face-to-face, you should not see the speaker wire protrude/stick out.
2
1
Page 17
19
If the speaker unit is too long, the amplifi er will sit too low behind the ear and the microphones will point vertically instead of horizontally. Also the wire will protrude, as pictured. Proper microphone positioning is essential for optimal performance of the directionality.
If the speaker unit is too short, it will be diffi cult to achieve suffi cient depth in the ear canal and the device may fall out.
If the wire is not fl ush with the skin, check that the insertion depth is adequate. Choose another dome size if the speaker unit needs to move further in the ear canal.

The Open dome is available in three different sizes: 6 mm, 8 mm and 10 mm. The most commonly used is the medium sized 8 mm dome. The Plus dome is available in one size.
The Open dome is suitable for hearing losses up to 70 dB in the high frequencies and is the best option for most users. The Plus dome allows more midfrequency gain and extends the fi tting range to 80 dB HL in the high frequencies. It is suitable if the user wants more volume or more mid-frequency gain. Genie will automatically prescribe Open or Plus dome.
The oval tip of the Plus dome should always be placed on the speaker unit as illustrated:
The dome should sit comfortably in the ear canal and support and hold the speaker. Use an otoscope to inspect client’s ear canal to determine dome size.
Page 24
26
Choosing the correct dome size
If the dome is too small, the speaker will not be securely positioned in the ear canal and it may also itch or tickle in the ear canal. If the dome is too big, it will be diffi cult to get insert deeply enough into the ear canal or it may collapse in the ear canal and be uncomfortable to wear.

Micro Mold
The Micro Mold is an acrylic custom solution that can be used instead of a dome. Micro Molds are produced from a traditional, deep impression. The adaptor clearly indicates R/L color marking.

Page 27
29
Micro Molds can be made with tube-shaped vents, as in traditional ear molds, but the length is shorter than standard vents. Therefore, the Micro Mold vent effect is much larger than its actual diameter. Genie prescribes the vent size, when Micro Mold is selected.
Micro Molds can also be used and selected in Genie for mild and moderate high frequency hearing losses, where open domes are prescribed. In these cases, Micro Molds can be ordered with larger collection vents for maximum occlusion relief.

Attaching the Micro Mold
When fi tting Delta with Micro Molds follow the instructions below:
1. Find the correct speaker unit length and attach it to the amplifi er (see Selecting speaker unit length).
2. Carefully insert the receiver into the Micro Mold and click the Micro Mold into place.
3. The Micro Mold can rotate axially to ensure maximum comfort. Before placing the Micro Mold in the ear, turn the Micro Mold until the up/down indicator points upwards.
Page 29
31
Note: Take care not to insert the speaker unit into the Micro Mold at an angle. Unless it is inserted correctly, the speaker will not lock into place. When placed correctly, you should hear the speaker snap into place with a “click”. Only a little pressure is required.
Don’t force the two units together!

Fitting Delta in Genie
When connecting Delta to Genie 8, the various prescriptions will be based on the hearing loss type:
1. Mild/moderate high frequency hearing loss
2. Moderate, severe low frequency hearing loss and conductive hearing loss.
The prescriptions affect the
• amplifi cation strategy
• disposable dome type, when domes are selected
• Micro Mold vent size, when Micro Molds are selected
The fi tting fl ow remains the same.
Page 33
35
Amplifi cation strategies
Mild/moderate high frequency hearing losses:
Genie prescribes the Clarity rationale. The Clarity rationale is focused in the high frequencies. The overall goal is to enhance speech clarity and improve intelligibility in noise.
Moderate, severe low frequency hearing loss including conductive hearing losses:
Genie prescribes the VAC rationale. VAC (Voice Aligned Compression) provides amplifi cation in the low, mid and high frequencies. The overall goal is loudness normalization.

1. How often should the Dome be changed?
The dome should be replaced whenever needed. For most users, this will be once every one or two months. The user should receive a pack of domes with the device. The dome is part of the protection system of the speaker unit against ear wax. Frequent replacement will ensure long life.
2. How frequently should the WaxStop in the Micro Mold be changed?
The WaxStop should be changed whenever needed. For most users, this will be once a month or if there is no sound in the device. See the WaxStop package for replacement instructions.
3. When should I change the NoWax in
the speaker unit?
Visually inspect the NoWax. If it is clogged, or there is no sound in the device, replace the NoWax fi lter. See the NoWax package for replacement instructions. The NoWax should be changed only by the hearing care professional.
FAQ
Page 61
63
4. What is the difference between the two wax fi lter systems for Micro Mold clients?
NoWax fi ts into the Delta speaker and is changed only by the hearing care professional. WaxStop fi lters fi t into the Micro Mold. The WaxStop is much smaller than the NoWax. The client will need to purchase only the WaxStop fi lters.
5. How frequently should the speaker
unit be changed?
The speaker unit is designed to function for a long time (several years), if it is cleaned properly, always used with a dome or Micro Mold, and never removed. The speaker unit is an integral part of the device and should only be removed or replaced if broken. The user should not remove the speaker unit.
6. Can I change the shell colors in my offi ce?
If you follow the shell change instruction in this guide, there is no risk when changing the shells.
7. How can I ensure that the battery doors are suffi ciently opened when the devices are not being used?
Demonstrate how Delta only fi ts perfectly in the instrument case when the battery doors are totally open to ensure disconnection and ventilation.
Page 62
64
8. What if the dome comes off in the ear canal?
Gently take it out, if possible by help of a spouse or relative. The dome is made of a soft, medically approved material, which is not harmful in any way. However, to prevent this situation, remember to change domes frequently, as their natural elasticity will disappear over time.
