looking for a s treamlined, ligh ter weight pack. Compr ession straps are removable, as are helmet and rope carry options. The Mutant 38
features our FlapJacket™ closur e for lidless use while the Mutan t 28 utilizes a large bucket-st yle top access.

HARNESS
The fi xed, rev erse spacer me sh die-cut foam harness on each Mut ant Serie s pack is designed spec ifically wit h stability, carr y and comf ort in mind. An adjustable sternum str ap with rescue whistle buc kle prov ides proper torsional s tabilit y while res ervoir hose r outers keep h ydration accessible and at the ready.
SUSPENSION/BACKPANEL
Suspension components of the Mut ant consist of a remo vable 1.2mm HDPE frames hee t with a remov able aluminum st ay, which works in conjunc tion with a rev erse spacer me sh, ventila ted r idged foam Air Scape™ back panel. This sus pension ensur es a high level of comfor t, breathabilit y and load tr ans fer.
REMOVING THE SUSPENSION
The in ternal Mu tant suspens ion component s can be remo ved for the alpin e minimalis t looking to shave a bit of weight.
TOOL C ARRY
The Mutant Dual ToolLock™ sy stem allows easy access to , and secur e att achment of all ice tools including new er, lea shle ss tools.
To use:
1 Route the ToolL ock™ clip thr ough the ey elet on the head o f your ice tool
and place the pick end of t he ice tool into the reinf orced fabric p atch.
2 Loosen the upper Y-Clip bungee to hold the ice tool handle, flip t he handle
up and secur e by tightening t he bungee. Reverse this proc ess to remove the tools.
A-FR AME SKI CA RRY
The reinforced A-frame sk i car ry loops f ound near the base o f either side of the Mutant wor k in conjunc tion wit h the side compression/retention str aps to provide stable, e asy to use A-fr ame ski carr y. Simply slide your skis tail t hrough the loops unt il the bindings re st on the loop and use t he upper compre ssion/retention st rap to secure to the side of t he pack.
1 Locate the hook and loop backpanel su spension
compartmen t just above the sew n-in rese rvoir sleev e and pull back t o expose t he HDPE framesheet and aluminum stay.
2 Grasp t he external b ase of the pack with one hand
and the framesheet fir mly with the other and pull to remove the suspension components from the pack.
When reinserting the framesheet please ensure that the aluminum stay is facing in the opposite dire ction of the pack's backpanel for proper fit.
ERGOPULL™ HIPBELT CLOSURE
Both Mut ant hipbelts use our exclusive modified str aigh t ErgoPull™ design. To operate, loosen the webbing enough so that you c an connec t the center buck le. Grasp the loose ends o f the w ebbing on either side an d pull in and acros s evenly wit h both hands at the same time.
HYDRATION
A sew n-in h ydr ation sleeve loca ted on the inside of the Mutant’s backpane l acc ept s up to a three liter reser voir while the hydration exit ports on either side of the pack allows routing either righ t or left using t he elasticized routing s traps on the pac k’s harness.

HYDRAULIC S
Add an O spr ey Hydraulics™ 2 or 3 liter hydration reservoir or a Hydraulics™ LT 1.5 or 2.5 lit er hy dration reservoir to your pack for s table, efficient , on-the-go water management.

REMO VAB LE HELME T CARRY SY STEM
A zippe red pock et near the top o f the Mutant pack sto ws a removable stretch mesh helmet carry s ystem to secure your helme t to the pack w hen not in use.

B Pull the helmet cap over the helme t and attach
the me tal buckle on the helmet cap to th e sewn-in att achment s trap at the top of the pack . Reverse this process t o remove.
To remove the helmet carr y system entirely fr om the pack , thread t he two attachment toggles through the holes on eit her side of the helmet cap and r emove.

REMOVABLE SIDE COMPRESSION
Adjustable, removable one piece side compression/ ret ent ion straps wi th upper side quick releas e buckles on the Mutant pr ovides load s tabilit y and external car ry options while O-ring routers allow for sectionalized compression.
To remove the one piece compr ession s traps simply unlock the c am buc kle found near t he top, backpanel of the pack and unthread the nylon webbin g thr ough the slider. Locate the ladder lock buck les found near the bo ttom backpanel of the pack and unthread the nylon webbing t hrough the slider and s ide O-rings to full y rem ove. Rever se this proce ss to rea tt ach the compression straps.

REMO VAB LE TOP POC KET
A float ing, removable single compar tment top pocket wit h int ernal ke y clip and helmet r etent ion system keeps much needed items organized and accessible.
To remove the top pocket: 1 Undo the t wo front t op pocket r etention st rap
buck les and the two quick rele ase buck les connect ing the top pock et to the pack ’s backpanel.
2 Thread the n ylon webbing through the retention
loops to remov e the t op pocke t. Reverse this proc ess to re at tac h the t op pocke t.
INTEGRATED FLAPJACKET™ CLOSURE SYSTEM
When your pack is being u sed w ithout the removable top pocke t, the FlapJacke t™ lid deploys to prov ide main compartment protec tion from t he element s and top-dow n compression to keep the pac k load stable. To deploy the FlapJack et™, remove the top pocke t as desc ribed abo ve and deplo y the F lapJack et™ ov er the main compartment using the top pocket retention str aps t o buckle and cinch int o place. Benea th the Flap Jacket™ there is a zippered mesh pock et to keep smaller it ems organized and acces sible when t he top pock et is n ot being us ed.
ZIPPERED TOP ACCESS
Zippered, wide mou th bucket load t op acces s provide s easy access t o the pack ’s int ern al contents. Addi tionall y, a top zippered slash pock et an d zipp ere d under lid mesh poc ket with internal key clip keeps needed items organized and readily accessible.
ROPE COMPRESSION
In the s ame top zippered compar tment that hou ses the helme t carry s ystem you will also find an in tegrated rope c ompres sion str ap. To use simply de tac h the metal clip found at the end of the ny lon rope carr y strap from the in ter nal pocket loop and drape ov er coiled r ope and att ach the metal buckle to the sewn-in attachmen t str ap at t he ex ternal top of t he pack to secur e. Rever se this process t o remove.
REV ERSE WRA P HIPBELT
The E VA foam padded hipwings with gear loops and nylon waists trap provide torsional stabilit y and are designed t o rever se wrap when a climbing harn ess is in use. S impl y wrap the hipwings towards t he front panel of the pack and engage via the hips trap buckle through the reinf orced fabric loop near the base of the pack’s front panel and tens ion to secure.
REVERSE WRAP HYBRID HIPBELT
The padded, EVA foam hipbelt with in tegrated gear loops and at tachmen t points f eatures Rever se Wrap hybrid technolog y designed spec ificall y for use wi th climbing harnesses.

2 Wrap the hipbelt wings towards t he two tab buckles
found just above the ToolLocks™ on either side of your pack and engage the tab buckles through the slot s on the hipbelt wings to hold in place. Now you can engage t he ny lon waist strap acros s your waist to provide torsional s tabilit y withou t interf ering wit h the fi t of your climbing harness .
