KODE ABS® COMPATIBLE SERIES
The Kode ABS Compatible Series utilizes ABS’s Vario system to bring Kode features and function to airbag avalanche protection. These
packs utilize ABS’s standard zippered attachment via the backpanel to integrate the pack with the Vario system. The Kode ABS Compatible
42 features top lid and panel access in a lar ge, guide worthy pack, while the Kode ABS Compatible 22+10 features expandable access to
the dr y compartment for varying loads.

ABS ® VARIO BAS E UNIT COMPAT IBILIT Y
The Kode ABS® Compatible Series has a remo vable thermoformed backpanel,
contoured har nes s with insulat ed hy dration t ube sleev e and a contoured hipbelt
wit h zippered pockets. These component s zip off toget her when the user want s to
combine the pack body to an ABS® Vario Bas e Unit.
To attach an A BS® Vario Base Unit to y our Ko de AB S® Compat ible Series pack:
1 Locate the per ipheral elasticiz ed fabric zipper guard on the backpanel of the pack
and fold it back around the ent ire backpanel to expose t he at tachmen t zipper.
2 Find the zipper pull at the bottom of the pa ck ’s backpan el and unzip the Kode
back panel from the main pack body in its entiret y.
3 Now you can zip on your Kode ABS® Vario Unit for the u tmost in backc ountry
snow sport safety. Re verse this proces s to reat tach the Kode backpanel.
AVALANCHE SAFETY COMPARTMENT
J-Zip, ext ra-large front panel acc ess to a dedicat ed
avalanche saf ety compartmen t with sep arate probe,
shov el handle sleeves and shovel head storage prov ides
organiza tion of and quick ac ces s to snow safet y gear.
HELM ET CARRY
Dedicated helmet carr y systems in both the Kode A BS®
42 and 22+10 packs provide st able and secure carr y of
helmets.
Kode A BS® Compa tible 22 +10 Helm et Carr y:
1 Locate the zippered slas h pocket on the pack’s fron t
panel and ex tend the stow able helmet carry fl ap
out wards fr om the pocket.
2 Connect the helmet’s chinstrap through the nylon
loop with t he helmet ic on at t he top of the p ack and
ext end the helmet carr y fl ap over the helme t and
att ach the tw o male buckles on t he carry fl ap to the
two sewn in female buckle s at the top of the pack
and tension the webbing to secure . Rev erse this
proc ess to remove t he helmet and res tow the helmet
carry fl ap.
For th e Kode ABS® C ompatibl e 42 Helmet Ca rry:
1 Locate the top z ippered compar tment of the pack ’s
top pocke t and unzip to access the integra ted
helme t carry s ystem.
2 Unbuckle the tw o integra ted helmet carry s traps and
connect the helmet’s chinstrap through the nylon
loop with t he helmet ic on loc ated at the front of t he
top pocke t.
3 Re-buckle the nylon carr y strap s over the helmet and
tens ion to secure. Reverse t his pr ocess to r emove
the helmet.
BACKPANEL ACCESS
Dual zipper ed backpanel entr y into the Kode’s
main compar tment pr ovides quick and conv enient
acce ss to internal c ont ent s and a sewn-in hydration
compart ment wit h an access port to the insulate d
harness h ydration sleeve.
ERGOPULL™ HIPBELT
All Kode Series pack s use our exclusive Er goPull™
hipbelt design. To operate the ErgoPull™, loos en the
webbing enough so y ou can conne ct the cen ter buckle.
Then grasp the loose ends of t he webbing on either
side, and pull in and ac ros s evenly w ith both hands .
KODE ABS® COMPATIBLE SERIES
INSULATED HYDRATION
An internal se wn-in hydrat ion sleev e with reser voir
hange r and a fully in sula ted , dual zippered harness router
wit h a hypo-allergenic stre tch garage provide s ice-fre e
hydration.
Load your hydration res ervoir into the sewn-in res ervoir
slee ve via the backpanel entry and route the hose
through the por t into the right insula ted shoulder
harness using the hook and loop attachment to secure.
Add an O sprey Hy draulics™ 2 or 3 liter hydr ation reser voir
or a Hydraulics™ LT 1.5 or 2.5 liter hydration re ser voir
to your pack for stable, ef ficient , on-the-go water

A-FR AME SKI CA RRY (42 L ONLY
Dual, lower rein for ced ski car ry loops and
upper r einforced carry/compres sion straps
combine for A-frame st yle ski car ry in an ABS®
compatible pack.
1 Slip the ski tails through the low er
rein for ced ski carr y loops tips up.
2 Clip t he upper car ry/compression s traps
around the skis .
3 Re-engage the buckles and t ension the
str aps ar ound the sk is for stable A-frame
ski carr y.

DIAG ONAL SK I CARRY
Diagonal sk i carry u tili zes one side o f the bott om
front panel webbing and secures on the opposite
side of the top front panel we bbing.
1 Loosen lower webbing via the slider buc kle, slip
ski t ails into po sit ion beneath the reinforced
area of the s trap and re-tension str ap securely.
2 Unclip the top car ry s traps via the glove friendly
buck le beneat h the protect ive fabr ic loop
and place upper por tion of sk i bene ath t he
rein for ced area of the opposi te strap and reatt ach the buckle.
3 Use th e cam lo cking slider buckle and webbing
on the side of t he pack to tension skis into place
for stable carry. Reverse to remove skis
from pack .
VERTICAL SNOWBOARD CARRY
Dual upper and lower reinfor ced strap wings on
the reinf orced fabric front panel of the Kode
provide s table ver tical snowboard c arr y.
1 Undo lo wer w ebbing strap comple tel y via
the slider buckle, place sno wboard binding s
beneath the rear binding and t ension
securel y into place.
2 Unclip the top car ry s traps via the glove
friendly buck le beneath the pr otective
fabr ic loop and pla ce upper por tion of
snow board beneath the reinf orc ed area of
the opposi te strap and reatt ach the buckle,
tens ioning the s trap into place across the
snow board and using the cam-lock slider
buck le (A-frame s ki carr y) to tension for
stable carry.

The Kode ABS® Compatible 42 featur es bo th backpanel

items. You c an top load by disconnecting the t op poc ket
ret ent ion straps and f lipping back the top pocket t o
gain ac ces s via t he draws tring weather closure and
gain backpanel access via the dual zippers f ound on the
backpanel.
TOP P OCKET
The dual compar tment top pocket fe atures a
heat embos sed, scr atc h free goggle pocket and
ample small gear st orage in the lowe r zippered
compart ment and an in tegrat ed helmet carr y system
in the upper zipper ed compar tment. P lease see t he
Helme t Carry s ection ab ove t o properl y utilize the
Kode A BS® Compa tible 42 Helmet Carr y System.
ROPE C OMPRESS ION STRA P
An integr ated rope compres sion s trap sew n into the
under side of the t op pocket allows for s table, se cure
rope c arr y between the top po cke t and main pack body.
To utilize:
1 Unbuckle the two top pock et retention straps and
flip back the top pocke t to expose the or ange rope
compression strap.
2 With the pack f ull, place t he coiled rope through the
compression s trap and cinch as r equired us ing the
slider buck le.
3 W ith rope draped over the main pack bod y,
reconnect the top pocket and cinch the top pocket
ret ent ion strap s as needed to s tabilize . Addi tionally,
the side A-fr ame carr y/compres sion straps can
be utilized to tension the ends o f the coiled rope
securel y when skis are not being carried.
ZIPP ERED EXPA NSION
You can gain an additional ten lit ers o f storage
capabilities b y utilizing the expansion z ipper.
To utilize:
1 locate the expansion zipper pull on the left side
panel of the pack near the sew n in sizing tag.
2 Unzip the zipper all the way around the pack body
until the zipper t erminat es once again on the left
side panel ne ar the base o f the pack. Reverse this
proc ess to con tract the exp ansion pocket .
ZIPPERED GOGGLE POCKET
A top zippered goggle pocket featuring scratch fr ee
heat embos sed fabric pro vides secure and pro tected
goggle carry as well as additional storage capabilities .
PANEL LOA D ACCESS
The Kode ABS® Compatible 22+10 fe atures both
back panel access as well as panel load access to
the main pack body prov iding ease o f loading and
quick access to neede d items. You can panel loa d
via the dual zippered ac ces s entry f ound on the
front panel and gain backpanel access via the dual
zippe rs found on t he bac kpanel.

ABS NITR OGEN GAS CANIS TER
The cart ridges contain only non-hazardous, nonfl ammable gases found in the atm osphere. The Nitrogen
fi lled cart ridge is designe d for temperatures of between
-40 °F (-40 °C) to 12 2 °F (50 °C). Empt y cartr idges can
only be refi lled by ABS. Exc hanges for a full cart ridge can
only be made w ith an ABS dealer.
PNEUMATIC P ULL
ABS uses the mo st r eliable ac tivation te chnology:
pyr otechnic-pneumatic acti vat ion. The A BS® pneumatic
pull guaran tees the f astest, most r eliable and, by f ar,
easiest activa tion for your personal sa fety. A quick pull

the speed o f sound. Within two to three seconds, the A BS
TwinBags in fl ate.
