9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the p olarized or grounding type plug. A polariz ed plug has two blades wi th on e wider than the o ther. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. If the provided plug does not fit into your outle t, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinc hed particula rly at the plugs , convenience receptacles, and at the point where they exit from the appliance.

INPUT S
There is a tota l of 2 p airs o f R CA inpu t on th e rear panel of the MI4 Po wer A mplif ier. These RCA i nputs are label ed a s “Lin e 1" and “ Line 2". Th ey are also des igned wit h an “R” and “L” as Right C hanne l and Lef t Cha nnel in puts re spect ive ly.
“Line 2" In put shoul d be u sed as the pr imary or no rmal inpu t for vario us li ne leve l sou rces th at ma y be av ailab le lo cally to the ampli fier. “ Lin e 1" In put is a pr iorit y sw itchi ng inp ut t hat ca n be used f or a seco nd inp ut, su ch as, th e outp ut o f a secon d sourc e, a nd will tak e over as pri mary inpu t whene ver the sig nal is pres ent . If th e “Line 1" I nput signa l is ab sent af ter 1 2 secon ds, the i nput wi ll re vert to t he “Lin e 2" Inpu t sig nal.
The Line 2 h as “ OUT ” RC A con necto rs t o loop the Line 2 sig nal to othe r devic es.
The M I4 Power Amp lifie r a lso p rov ides a p air of s pea ker l eve l input label ed a s “S pe ake r In ” for thos e ap plica tions where eithe r of th e so urces ha s on ly speak er l ev el o utput si gna l avail able. The Speake r In signal wil l be mixed wi th Line 1 or Line 2 input sig nal con tr oll ed by th e sw itch labe led “Line 1" and “Li ne 2" as opt ion o n the right side of “Lin e 1" In put R CA conne ctors .

To th e r igh t o f t he Spe aker O ut conne ctors is a s wit ch label ed :Mode ” with “S tereo ” and “Br idged ” as opti ons. It is used to switc h the out put mod e of MI 4.
If you will be co nn ect ing a pair of spe akers to the ampli fie r, place th e swit ch in t he “Ster eo” Po sitio n. If y ou wil l b e usin g a pair chann els to powe r a si ngle mon o s peake r, p lace t he switc h in the “B ridge d” po sitio n.
The M I4 Po we r Am plifi er ha s 2 chann els o utput s. Ea ch chann el has a pa ir o f multi -wa y bi ndi ng p ost con necto rs. These are red a nd bl ack s crew posts on t he re ar pa nel o f the ampli fier. Ter minal s a re provi ded for “L” an d “ R” ou tpu t. If yo u will use the am plifi er with a st ere o m ode(n ot a brid ged mo de), conne ct t he spe aker’s po si tiv e(Red ) te rmina l to the am pli fier ’s posit ive(R ed) term in al using the appro priat e gau ge sp eak er wire, an d con nect the spea ker ’s ne gativ e(Bla ck) term inal to the ampl ifier ’s ne gativ e(B lack) term ina l(imm ediat ely be si de the posit ive ter minal ) us ing the appro priat e ga uge speak er wire. If you wo uld lik e to u se the am plifi er with “ Bridg ed” mod e, place t he “ Mod e” S witch i n the “Br idged ” Posit ion to be a sin gle chann el mono a mplif ier, the t wo c han nels wi ll b e inter nal ly conne cted in s eries . The aud io outp ut of a loc al sour ce, suc h as MP 3 Playe r, CD, Televis ion, c om put er, et c., is conn ect ed to th e M I4 Po wer Ampli fier via th e Li ne 1 Inp ut, and whe never the loc al s our ce i s activ e its signal w ill tak e pri ority o ver the dist ribut ed au dio signa l pres ent at Li ne 2. H oweve r, t he dis tri bu ted au dio si gnal will s til l be prese nt a t the Line 2 In put. In th is c ircum sta nc e th e audio o utput o f the loc al sour ce will b e heard v ia t he MI 4 Po wer Ampli fier. Once the loc al s ource is turn ed o ff or muted , th e MI 4 Po wer A mpl if ier wi ll aut om ati ca lly sw itc h b ac k to th e distr ibute d aud io sy stem as an a udi o sourc e, as sum ing the local sourc e rema ins inact ive. The delay time is 12 sec onds when switc h b ack t o the no rmal sourc e wil l o ccur. Thi s set up assum es al l i nco ming signa ls ar e at line leve l a nd not at speak er leve l.

Co nne ct the line ou t jacks fro m a st ereo pream plifi er or sourc e to the Line 2 In put jack s of your MI4 Power Amp lifie r. Then co nne ct your sin gle mo no speak er to the ou tp ut Bin di ng Post o bserv ing prop er polar ity(You ca n check “ OUTPU T” on Pag e 4 for r efere nce abo ut the po lar ity).
To Mono Speaker
In the ap plica tio n shown below, a di str ibute d audio syst em is conne cted t o th e MI 4 Powe r Amp lifie r as a loca l zo ne amp lif ier via th e Line 2 Inpu t. Nor mal ly the distr ibute d au di o sy stem w ill be the au dio so urce f or t he MI4 Po wer A mplif ie r. Th e distr ibute d au dio can be pas sed on to be us ed by addi tiona l zones or su b zone s in the dis tribu ted sy stem via the Li ne 2 Outpu t.
If the Whole Hous e Distr ibu ted Audi o was only availa ble a s a speak er level sign al you could co nnect it to the “Sp ea ker In” conne ction s and set th e swit ch whi ch is on the ri ght si de of “Line 1 " Input R CA conne cto rs to the “ Line 2" p ositi on or tow ard to the lef t ha nd pos iti on of the s wit ch. The MI4 Po wer A mplif ier will no longe r be abl e to pas s the Wh ole Hous e Dis tribu ted Audio t o anoth er zone v ia th e Line 2 Ou tput.
