
Introduction
This manual is for the users who attempt to use the
H.264 4-channel Digital Video Recorder (DVR). It expresses
installation guide, connecting to peripherals, and GUI
operation. Please familiarize yourself with the contents in this
manual before using the DVR. Make sure that you have
referred to an expert when opening the outer case for repair
or installing HDD. If you have any inquiries or questions on
the products, please consult to your local dealer.

NOTE: If BNC, VGA and DVI outputs are all
connected to monitors, DVR will detect DVI as
the first priority, then VGA as the second, and
then BNC.
2.3 SATA HDD Installation
Follow the steps below to install HDD.
STEP 1: Lightly push the two
grooves; then pull the cover to
the open position.
STEP 2: Turn the black side of
HDD up
, and slide it into the HDD

bay.
STEP 3: Fix HDD by screws.
(Optional)
STEP 4: Push the cover to the
closed position.

NOTE: The power of HDD/ventilator will be off if
the cover is opened.
NOTE: The HDD will be started after 3 seconds
of closing cover, if HDD is not detected, warning
will be showed for 3 seconds by a message
“HDD is Non-installed !” with beep every 10
seconds. User can turn off the buzzer or leave
Live screen to quiet down.

NOTE: There are three reasons which may
cause the above warning message: 1) HDD is
broken 2) HDD is not installed 3) HDD is full, and
the recording mode is set as “Single-way
Recording” (refer to Section 4.3 Recording
Mode).
NOTE: If the HDD is not detected and started
within 25 seconds, it will be determined a failed
HDD.

Chapter 3 Getting Start
In this chapter, it introduces the control keypad of
DVR, and the definitions of icons shown on event
list and live/playback screen.

3.1 DVR Control Panel
NOTE: In live or playback mode, press up/down
to switch channels in full screen.

NOTE: In playback mode, press left/right
to rewind/fast forward the images.
3.2 Start Screen
The smart auxiliary icons on the screen will allow

users realizing the system status more easily.

3.6 Event List
If users set “Password Enable” as , the DVR
will request at least level 1 (ID: 1) password to
event list. Default: ID: 1, Password: 1111 (Refer

to Section 4.2 Setup - DVR Password).
Each HDD is allowed to save up to 256 events, if
users change a new HDD, the event list will be
moved together with the old one.

Show event list.
Select channels, filters or events.
Play the event.
Show the selected event.
Press “ESC” to go back to list screen.

Event Filter
The different colors of event filters enable users
to search events simply. Meanwhile, each event

filter is come with an auxiliary search cursor in
same color, it is helpful to show users what
happened when they are playing the images
(refer to Section 3.7 Playback).

3.7 Playback
Operation
If users set “Password Enable” as , the DVR
will request at least level 1 (ID: 1) password to
playback mode. Default: ID: 1, Password: 1111
(Refer to Section 4.2 Setup - DVR Password).

Chapter 4 Main Menu
If users set “Password Enable” as , the DVR
will request at least level 1 (ID: 1) password to
main menu. Default: ID: 1, Password: 1111

(Refer to Section 4.2 Setup - DVR Password).
4.1 Camera

The DVR supports 13 versions of menu
language: T-Chinese, S-Chinese, Japanese,

English, Czech, Dutch, Spanish, French, Italian,
Deutsch, Polish, Russian and Hebrew.
NTSC/PAL Select
1. Auto: The DVR will detect the camera’s
system (NTSC or PAL) automatically when
installing cameras, if no camera installed, it
will be the same as previous setting.
2. NTSC: The DVR will be set to NTSC
even PAL cameras are installed.
3. PAL: The DVR will be set to PAL even
NTSC cameras are installed.
Date / Time Setup

Use and to change Date Mode,
Date and Time.
The date mode set here will be showed on the
playback search bar as well.

NOTE: It is necessary to EXIT/UPDATE this
page after changing the settings.
DVR Password
Use and to enable/disable
and change passwords.
Password Enable: Only users of “ID 2” are
able to enable/disable password authority.

Password Enable: the DVR will
request password (ID: 1 or 2) to access
main menu, playback, event list and those
settings with a request key in the menu (ex.
DVR Password). Users without password
(ID 0) are allowed live monitoring only.
Password Disable: the DVR will NOT
request password to enter Main Menu.
User Password (ID: 1): Default password:
1111.
Admin Password (ID: 2): Default
password: 2222.

Adjust the value for password.
Set the value for password.
NOTE: ID 2 (Admin: level 2 users) is the
administrator of DVR, who has the rights to
manage passwords. ID 1 (User: level 1 users) is
a normal user who can neither enable/disable
password checking nor manage passwords.

Information
Users can check the DVR information including
software, hardware, HDD start/stop recording
time and checksum.
4.3 Record
Main Menu Record

Set recording rate for the timing when alarm or
motion is triggered.

NOTE: Working and non-working hours are
programmable by setting schedule.
NOTE: If only working/non-working hours are
recording, the event will still be recorded into the
event list even alarm/motion rate is set
.

Quality
1 star stands for the worst image quality, and 5
stars is the best.
NOTE: The background channel, image quality
and frame rate will be changed immediately
when users adjust the Quality and Frame Rate or
change Channels.
Audio
Users can install audio devices with channel 1
and channel 2.
Enable audio function: Audio works
both in live & playback.
Disabled audio function: Audio
doesn’t work neither in live nor playback.

Record Mode
No Recording: The DVR will NOT
record.
Continuing Recording: The HDD will
be overwritten when it is full. HDD status
bar will show “100%”, but it will continue
recording.
Single-way Recording: The DVR will
stop recording when the HDD is full until
the recording mode is changed to or
format the HDD.

NOTE: If users use more than two HDDs by
turns, it is suggested to set the Record Mode as
“Single-Way Recording” to prevent overwriting.
Schedule
Recording schedule is programmable for working
& non-working hours.

NOTE: When a new HDD is installed, it will show

a message “Unformatted HDD!” on the screen,
users can format HDD via this function, and set
record mode. If an old HDD is installed instead,
the DVR will remain the original record mode of
the HDD, but users can change it as well.

event list will be deleted after formatting
HDD.
4.4 Alarm

Response Duration
Users can set post-recording time in this item.
When alarm/motion is happened, the
post-recording time will be lasted for 1-255
seconds with an alarm or motion message and
beep sound, if a new alarm/motion is happened
in the meanwhile, the post-recording function will
be on again for 1-255 seconds. Users can turn
off the buzzer, but the message will still be
showed on the screen.

4.5 CF Card

NOTE: Users will need to format the CF card
before using it for backup images or upgrade
OS.

Set the start time of data which is going to be
saved to CF card

Set the stop time of data which is going to be
saved to CF card
NOTE: If there is data between the start and stop
time, a data bar will be showed at the bottom of
screen.

NOTE: One CF card can be saved maximum 16
files, up to 1GB or 30 minutes per file.
Channel
Choose a channel which is going to be backup.

Check CF Card
When a CF card is inserted into DVR, it will show
“Unformatted CF Card!” or “CF Card Check OK!”
on the screen. Format CF card if saw the first
message.

CF Card Storage Requirement
The DVR supports 64MB~2GB storage of CF
card.
NOTE: User can not save to a CF card under 64
MB, or it will show a message “CF Card Can’t <
64MB!” on the screen.

Backup
Backup the data into CF card, the file will be
named by Start Time as
“C_YYYYMMDDhhmmss.mov” (see below table)
with “FAT 16” form which can be played by
QuickTime Player.

After backup, users can check the event list to
see if it is successful (refer to Section 3.6 Event
List).

CF card to the slot below the DVR front side.

This is the highest level, not only remote viewing,
admin can also set IE parameters including
PPPoE and DDNS settings…etc. (default
password: 3333)
NOTE: The DVR only provide 1 user to access
images remotely at the same time.
Chapter 5 IE Settings
5.1: System Requirements
PC: Intel Pentium III or higher, 512MB RAM,

1GB HDD space
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 2000, XP
or Vista
Web Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0 or above
QuickTime: please surf

5.2: Getting Start
Step 1: Open IE, chose “Tools”, and click
“Internet Options”.

Step 2: Choose “General” and click “Settings” of
“Browsing history”.

Step 3: Choose “Automatically” and click “OK”.

Step 4: Use Static IP or LAN to access DVR,
enter IP address of the DVR, and then press
enter. The default IP of the DVR is 192.168.0.89,
but it is recommended to double-check with
network setting of the DVR.

Step 6: Right-click until pop up a window and
choose “Plug-in Settings”

Step 7: Choose “Browser”, click “Play movies
automatically”, and click “OK”

Step 8: Choose “Advanced”, set “Transport
Setup” as “Custom”, set “Transportation
Protocol” as “HTTP”, and set “Port ID” as “80”.

Step 9: Click
or press “F5” for live mode.

Step 10: Click “Setup” icon.
Step 11: Click “Bitrate” and select an appropriate
Bitrate. The higher the Bitrate, the better the
video quality, and the lower the live frame rate.
Intranet user should choose “Intranet” for the
best video quality. Then click “Send” to save
setting.

5.3 Network Operation:

5.3.2: Message Window
In live mode, it would show current time. In
playback mode, it would show playback time. If

“Disconnection” appears, please Click or
press “F5”.
5.3.3: Live Mode
Live: ID 7, 8 and 9 could press to
enter live mode.
5.3.4. Playback Mode
Playback: ID 8 and 9 could press

to enter playback mode.
5.3.5. Setup Mode
ID 7, 8, and 9 could press to enter setup
mode, but only ID 9 could change DDNS and
PPPoE setting.

5.4: DDNS and PPPoE
DDNS, Dynamic DNS allows the domain name
data held in a name server to be updated in real
time. The most common use for this is in allowing
an Internet domain name to be assigned to a
computer with a varying (dynamic) IP address.
The following is an example for users’ reference.
5.4.1: Create a DDNS account and a host name
from DynDNS.

Step 1: Go www.dyndns.com and then click
“Create Account”.
Step 2: Create a DDNS Account and confirm the
account by mail.

Step 3: Create a Host Name.
5.4.2 Use Static IP or LAN to setup DDNS and
PPPoE of the DVR
Step 1: PPPoE, Point-to-Point Protocol over
Ethernet, is a network protocol used mainly with
ADSL services. Go Setup mode and click PPPoE,
set PPPoE Status as ON, and enter your PPPoE
“User Name” and “Password” assigned by your
ADSL services provider. After submitting, please
reboot the DVR.

Step 2: Go Setup mode and click DDNS, set
DDNS Status as ON, enter User Name &
password of the free DDNS account, enter
DDNS Host Name, and choose the DDNS
provider. After submitting, please reboot the
DVR.
Step 3: Connect the DVR to PPPoE modem.

5.4.3 Remote View via DDNS
Step 1: Enter “DDNS Host Name”, and then
press enter.
Step 2: Enter ID and Password.

Appendix B FAQ
HDD Questions:
1. Q: Why does the DVR not recording after the

HDD is installed?
A: The problem might occur when the HDD is
not well installed or unformatted; or the DVR
power is being turn off or the Recording Rate
setting is Zero or the Record Mode setting is
selected (the single-way recording
selection will stop recording when the DVR is
full).
2. Q: How do I turn off the message “HDD is
Non-installed” on the display screen?

A: Please install the HDD or you may switch
off the beeping sound by turn off the
BUZZER under the ALARM setting.
3. Q: Can I take the HDD to play at the PC?
A: NO! The format setting is different and it

cannot be recognize thru PC.
CF Card Questions:
4. Q: Why there is an unformatted display
shown when plug in the CF Card?
A: The CF card can only be formatted by using
the DVR and not by the PC. Please check
below for the CF Card Format Process:

5. Q: Why can’t I play the .mov file when I
backup the data in the CF card?
A: The problem might occur when using the
unsuitable display software. Please use the
Quick Time Player to display the .mov file.
