Quick Start Guide

Before you begin
The Ooma Wireless + Bluetooth Adapter
enables your Ooma Telo® or Ooma Ofce
Base Station to connect to the Internet
wirelessly using your Wi-Fi network. This
gives you the exibility to install your device
anywhere in your home or ofce where you
have access to Wi-Fi.
When used with the Ooma Telo, the built-in
Bluetooth function also links your mobile
phone to your Telo to receive incoming calls
through your home telephones, giving you
an additional level of convenience.
Before you get started, make sure your
Ooma device is working with a hardwired
Ethernet connection. Then nd a convenient
place to put your Ooma device. It should
be centrally located in your home or ofce
and have good Wi-Fi signal strength. Also,
to use the Bluetooth function, you’ll want
to place the Telo within Bluetooth range of
where you normally charge your cell phone.
Setting up the Wireless + Bluetooth Adapter
will take about 10 minutes. You’ll need:
• A desktop or laptop computer with
an Ethernet port
• An Ethernet cable
You will rst set your device to connect to
your Wi-Fi network. Then, you will set up
Bluetooth and pair your Bluetooth devices.

gone wireless!
Make sure the adapter is prop erly aligned
with the USB port on the back of you r
Ooma device and plug it in. Pr ess firmly to
ensure that the adapter is i nserted all the
way in, but do not use excessive forc e.
Rotate it upward for optimal re ception.
You may now disconnect the hardwi red
Ethernet cable conne cting your Ooma
device to your modem or route r. You’re
free to move your Ooma device to a mor e
central location in you r home or office!
Next time you power up, your Ooma de vice
will connect to the Interne t wirelessly
through your Wi-Fi netwo rk. As before,
your Ooma device will be read y for use
when the Ooma logo turns b lue. Pick up
the phone connected to you r Ooma device
and listen for the musica l Ooma dialtone
to confirm that you are ready to m ake and
receive calls.
If your Ooma device is not able to c onnect
wirelessly, see the Troublesho oting section
on the back for correcti ve actions you can
try. Keep in mind that pluggin g an Ethernet
cable into the TO INTERNE T port will
override use of the Wirele ss Adapter.
Use your Ethernet cable to co nnect a
computer to the HOME NETWORK port
of your Ooma device.
On the computer you conne cted to your
Ooma device, open up a web brow ser and
navigate to http://setup.ooma.com. Click
on the Wireless tab on th e left and follow
the directions on the scr een to link your
Ooma device to your home Wi- Fi network.

IMPORTANT: If your Ooma device used to
be set up in between your modem and router
prior to installing the Wireless + Bluetooth
Adapter, be sure to reconnect your router to
your modem directly and then power cycle
both devices.
NOTE: You’ll need the name of your home
Wi-Fi network and the associated password.
Congure Your Bluetooth settings
The embedded Bluetoot h function allows
you to link your cell phone to your ho me
telephone system throug h the Ooma Telo.
Now incoming calls on your c ell phone
will ring on your cell phone A ND home
phone and you can use any of your h ome
phones to answer the call. Preve nt missed
calls, avoid dropped cal ls, and enjoy
the ergonomics of talk ing on your home
telepheone. You can pair up to seven
Bluetooth devices to your Telo.
Pairing a Mobile Phone
Step 1 Put the Telo into pa iring mode
Put your Ooma Telo into pairing mode by
dialing * # * # 5 0 1 from any phone connected
to your Ooma Telo. You will hear three beeps
when the Telo goes into pairing mo de.
Step 2 Add the Telo as a Bluetooth devi ce
Next, open the Bluetooth se ttings menu on
your cell phone and go thro ugh the process
of adding a “Headset” or “ Hands free” type
of device. Your mobile phone shoul d find
your Ooma Telo. Select it and com plete the
pairing process by ente ring a PIN of 0000.
Pairing a Bluetooth headset
Step 1 Access the B luetooth setup pag e
Use the computer that you con nected to the
HOME NETWORK port during the Wirel ess
setup process and navig ate a web browser
to http://setup.ooma.com. Click on the
Bluetooth tab on the left .
Step 2 Put your head set in pairing mode
Follow the manufacturer ’s instructions to put
your Bluetooth headset into p airing mode.
Step 3 Add the devic e
Click on the “Add New Device” button i n
your browser. The Telo will scan for near by
Bluetooth devices and dis play a list of
devices to choose from. Se lect your headset
from this list.
Step 4 Complete t he pairing proces s
When you are prompted, ente r the Bluetooth
headset PIN code. For most he adsets, this
code will be 0000. Clic k “Yes” to add the
headset and complete th e pairing process.
NOTE: You can also use this page to pair
a mobile phone.

NOTE: Bluetooth functionality is not supported
on Ooma Ofce Base Station devices.
If you run into any is sues when settin g up
Wi-Fi access, t ry these correc tive steps:
• Press firmly to ma ke sure the Wireless +
Bluetooth Adapter is plugg ed in all the way
• Try re-inser ting the Wireless + Bluetooth
Adapter and rebooting you r Ooma device
• Move the Ooma device c loser to your Wi-Fi
router or access point ( to make sure it is
not out of range)
• Repeat the dire ctions in Step 3 to rescan
and reconfigure your wi reless network
settings
• If you are connec ting to a Wi-Fi network
with a hidden SSID, it won’t show up in
the automatic scan. Click “ Next” after
scanning for wireles s networks and
manually configure yo ur wireless settings
• Verify that your Oo ma device works with
a hardwired Ethernet co nnection to your
router
• Reboot your Ooma d evice and Wi-Fi router
or access point

Adapter, basic safety pr ecautions should a lways
be followed to reduce the r isk of fire, electri c
shock, damage to equi pment, loss of prope rty,

• Do not use this equipment and all related
accessories near or under water
• Avoid using this product during an electrical
storm. There may be a remote risk of electric

user-serviceable parts

What this Warranty Covers. Ooma agrees to
provide a limited warr anty to the holder of a vali d
proof of purchase (“C onsumer” or “you”) t hat the
Ooma Wireless + Blu etooth Adapter contai ned
in this package (“Pro duct”) is free from m aterial
defects in material a nd workmanship, subj ect to
the exclusions noted be low. This limited warran ty
extends only to the Cons umer for Products
purchased and use d in the United States of
America or Canada .
What Ooma Will Do. D uring the warrant y period,
Ooma or its authorize d service repre sentative will
repair or replace, a t its option, without ch arge, a
Product which is foun d to be materially defec tive
in materials or wor kmanship and retu rned to
Ooma. Ooma, at it s option, may use new or
refurbished rep lacement parts to repair the
Product, or may repla ce the Product with a new
or refurbished pro duct having the same o r
similar function.
How Long this Warr anty Lasts. T his limited
warranty shall exp ire one (1) year from the date of
the Product purchase. Replacement or refurbished
parts and produc ts are warranted for th e original
Product warranty p eriod. This warra nty terminates
if you sell or transfer yo ur Product.
What this Warra nty Excludes . This limited
warranty does not c over: (a) the cost of shippin g
and handling for retu rned and replacem ent
products, or damag e or loss during shipm ent
for warranty ser vice; or (b) any softwar e (which
is governed exclusivel y by the licensing term s of
such software); or (c) any Pr oduct that has been
subjected to misuse, a ccident, shippin g or other
physical damage, im proper installat ion, abnormal
operation or handl ing that is contrar y to operation

instructions on how a nd where to return your
Product and on any appl icable costs asso ciated
with a repair, replacem ent or exchange. You may
be required to provide p roof of purchase befo re
obtaining warrant y service, and it i s your sole
responsibilit y to maintain such proof (e .g., a sales
receipt). Returned p roducts that are dete rmined
not to be materially defe ctive will be subject
to a handling fee. If you dis agree with any of
our decisions with r espect to warrant y service,
you have the right to contest t hat decision as
permitted under a pplicable laws and re gulations.
How State Law App lies. This limite d warranty
gives you specific le gal rights. You may also have

Can’t connect to s etup.ooma.com:
Check that your computer i s connected to
the HOME NETWORK port of the Ooma
device and that the Ethern et cable is
plugged in securely. The LE D next to the
port should be lit gre en. Make sure your
computer is configure d to automatically
request an IP address . Also, try browsing to:
http://172.27.35.1 instead.
Voice quality is p oor:
Check the signal quali ty on the Wireless
section on setup.ooma.com. Try moving
the Ooma device closer to you r wireless
router or access point . See if there is high
network traffic (suc h as streaming video)
that could impact the qua lity of your phone
calls.
