Introduction
5 Introduction
The Saturn 8700 Plus USB is a FeliCa and NFC contactless reader that includes a visual display and
is compatible with EVA mounting standards.
The Saturn 8700 Plus USB is designed specifically for unattended retail environments and supports
an extensive range of applications including vending machines, ticketing, toll roads, gaming and
gambling machines, kiosks, access control, mass transit gates and more.
Saturn 8700 Plus USB plug-and-play design makes it easy to connect to any existing infrastructure,
quickly upgrading it to contactless operations without disrupting ongoing business operations.

Warning: Power supply minimum requirements
Keeping the DC supply voltage within the specified allowed range is crucial to guarantee
proper operation of the equipment. The use of AC rectified power supply source, which
is not properly filtered, forms a risk of too low voltage dips and hence should be avoided.
It is highly recommended to check this issue with proper tools (e.g. oscilloscope) during
the reader installation. For more details contact oti technical team via oti’s sales
representatives.

The Saturn 8700 Plus USB uses standard USB cable (1.8m) with a mini-USB upstream connector
on the reader side and a USB Type A downstream connector on the host side.
The reader is USB powered; no additional power supply is required.

Saturn 8700 Plus USB can be mounted to the vending machine with a angular mounting bracket.
Both, the reader and the bracket supplied with a sealing gasket that prevents water leaking into the
machine after mounting is completd.
9.1 Bracket Mounting
Using the special mounting bracket allows mounting the Saturn 8700 Plus USB at 15 degress from
the mounting surface. The images below illustrates the Saturn 8700 Plus USB Bracket mounting.

The Bracket mounting option requires a 102x90 mm cutout in the vending machine front panel.

A metal plate at the internal side of the vendig machines’ panel is used for tightening the device to
the panel.
