System Requirements
Welcome
Designed especially for single-site, mid-sized organizations, NetDVR offers powerful video monitoring, event
management and archiving capabilities, delivered in a scalable, cost-effective packa ge.
NetDVR supports all leading manufacturers’ analog and IP cameras. Each camera can be individually configured for
resolution, frame rate, recording mode (continuous, scheduled or on-event) and storage location, to optimize your
computing and storage resources.
Authorized users can access cameras across the IP video system via an array of video clients, included free for
unlimited users. Ocularis Client Lite, the primary user interface for NetDVR, delivers instant review during live
monitoring, multiple screen support, carousel and hotspot functionalities and powerful investigatio n tools.
Access to video is also available through NetGuard-EVS desktop client, NetGuard browser-based client for web
access or casual monitoring, and the NetPDA and NetCell handheld clients which provid e access to live and recorded
video, including full PTZ control, while on the move.
NetDVR’s automated processes turn volumes of video data into critical information. Motion events or events
generated by external physical security systems, can be accessed and investigated within seconds via Ocularis Client
Lite. Video of the event, together with audio captured by camera-connected microphones, can be easily exported as
an AVI file or video database for use as court evidence.
Filtered video of motion events or events generated by external physical security systems can be pushed
automatically or manually (peer-to-peer), to any user’s video client or across the network. This allows the monitoring
of the entire camera system by one or few operators, dramatically improving the security system’s responsiveness
and efficiency.
OnSSI’s Software Upgrade Plan (SUP) will keep your system current with the latest features and functionalities using
your existing hardware, running on all future Windows® operating systems. OnSSI also provides a trade-in path for
upgrading your system to Ocularis, OnSSI’s enterprise-scale IP video platform.
NetDVR consists of a number of components, each targeted at specific tasks and user types:
•The Administrator: The main application used by surveillance system administrators for configur ing the
NetDVR surveillance system server, upon installation or whenever configuration adjustments are required,
e.g. when adding new cameras or users to the system.
•The Recording Server: A vital part of the surveillance system; video streams are only transferred to
NetDVR while the recording server is running. The recording server is automatically inst alled as a service
(the Recording Server service), which will run in the background on the NetDVR surveillance system server.
You are able to manage the service through the Recording Server Manager.
•The Image Server: Handles access to the surveillance system for users logging in with NetGuard, or
NetGuard-EVS, or PDA Client. The Image Server itself does not require separate hardware; it runs as a
service on the surveillance system server. Surveillance system administrators handle Image Server
configuration, including users' access rights, through the Image Server Administrator application.
•The Download Manager: Lets surveillance system administrators manage which NetDVR-related features
your organization's users will be able to access from a targeted welcome page on the surveillance system
server.
•NetMatrix: Enables control of live camera vie ws on remote computers for distributed viewing. Once
configured, NetMatrix-triggered live video can be viewed in NetGuard-EVSs or on computers with the
NetMatrix
client application installed.

System Requirements
Video from up to 64 cameras can be monitored, investigated and exported, via an array of video clients:
Ocularis Client Lite provides all of the monitoring, investigation and video export capabilities of the Ocularis
Client, the main operator interface for Ocularis, OnSSI’s breakthrough IP video platform.
Ocularis Client Lite’s highly intuitive, touchscreen-enabled (optional) interface streamlines the entire
monitoring and event management process. Live monitoring is enhanced with instant investigation, playback
controls, as well as optical and digital PTZ. Multiple carousels with investigation and camera sequence
controls, hotspots and on-alert push-video panes, allow for efficient alerts-based monitoring.
Ocularis Client Lite includes multiple tools for accessing and investigating video of incidents within seconds:
The Time Slicer and Motion Slicer auto-generate thumbnails of time intervals and motion events; The Kinetic
Motion Timeline; configurable motion detection; and digital PTZ, applied to both live and recorded video in
any mode of operation.
Note regarding the release of Ocularis Client Lite: as the release of Ocularis Client Lite coincided with
the publishing of this document, it has not been fully referenced. For more information about Ocularis Client
Lite please visit www.onssi.com
.
The time-tested NetGuard-EVS desktop client provides efficient monitoring for the entire camera system,
with many useful investigation tools including digital PTZ into live and recorded video and previews of
motion sequences for easy access to events.
Operating as a browser-based web service, NetGuard client is the ideal tool for occasional monitoring or
access to video over the Internet, with no software download required.
NetPDA and NetCell, OnSSI’s handheld video clients, provide access to live and recorded video with PTZ
control presets, while on the move.
NetDVR provides automated processes capable of turning volumes of video data into critical information.
Motion events or events generated by external physical security systems, can be accessed and investigated
within seconds via Ocularis Client Lite. Video of the event, together with audio captured by camera-connected
microphones, can be easily exported as an AVI file or video database for use as court evidence.
