FlexPoint™ 10FL/T User Instructions
ABOUT THIS MANUAL:
This document supports revision “Rev. 2” of the 10FL/T. Please refer to the serial number label on the bottom of the 10FL/T for the revision number of your product. This revision incorporates the following improvements to the 10FL/T:
1. 10FL/T operates in Link Propagate mode: A port of the 10FL/T transmits a Link signal only when receiving a Link at the other port.
DESCRIPTION:
The Omnitron FlexPoint 10FL/T media converter pro­vides 10BASE-FL single-mode (SM) or multimode (MM)
ber to 10BASE-T twisted pair (UTP) media conversion.
The 10FL/T is compliant with the IEEE 802.3 standards.
It features a pair of ST or SC ber connectors and an EIA/TIA 568 RJ45 UTP connector.
These FlexPoint 10FL/T models are supported:

The 10FL/T automatically supports Half-Duplex and Full­Duplex operations. It also supports switch-selectable
straight-through or crossed RJ45 UTP wiring.
POWER ADAPTER NOTICE:
1. When used in a standalone conguration, this product
is intended to be used only with a Listed Direct Plug-In
Power Unit marked “Class 2” and rated at 9Vdc, 1 Amp.
2. This product should always be used only with
Omnitron Supplied Power Unit model number 9113-PS or 9115-PS.
WARNING!
Before inserting the Power Adapter, verify
that the power on the unit is appropriate for
your AC line voltage source.
MOUNTING:
The FlexPoint 10FL/T can be solo-mounted using a wall­mounting kit or DC Power Adapter. It can also be rack-
mounted using a 5-position shelf, or a 14-position, high-
density FlexPoint Powered Chassis. If wall-mounting or
shelf-mounting, attach the power adapter unit.
Attach the ber cables to the FlexPoint 10FL/T ST or
SC connectors. Note that the FlexPoint transmit (Tx) must attach to the receive side on the device at the far
end of the ber and the receive (Rx) must attach to the
transmit side.
Both the ber and UTP ports must be connected in order
for the unit to establish an end-to-end link.
DIP-SWITCH SETTINGS: UTP Crossover DIP-Switch:
When connecting the UTP cable to a hub or switch,
set the DIP-switch to straight-through “UTP Hub/ Switch” (factory setting). When connecting to a PC or workstation, set the DIP-switch to crossover “UTP to Workstation”.
Disable Auto-Negotiation and manually set port speed to 10Mbps on the connecting UTP device.

All user-required operations can be performed without opening the unit. Never attempt to open or remove the cover or tamper with the unit.
Warranty
This product is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship for a period of TWO YEARS from the date of shipment. A LIFETIME warranty may be obtained by the original purchaser by
REGISTERING this product with Omnitron within 90 days from the date of shipment. TO REGISTER, COMPLETE
AND MAIL OR FAX THE REGISTRATION PORTION OF
THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL TO THE INDICATED
ADDRESS. Or you may register your product on the internet at http://www.omnitron-systems.com. During
the warranty period, Omnitron will, at its option, repair
or replace a product which is proven to be defective.
For warranty service, the product must be sent to an Omnitron designated facility, at Buyer’s expense.
Omnitron will pay the shipping charge to return the
product to Buyer’s designated US address using Omnitron’s standard shipping method.
Limitation of Warranty
The foregoing warranty shall not apply to defects resulting from improper or inadequate use and/or
maintenance of the equipment by Buyer, Buyer-supplied equipment, Buyer-supplied interfacing, unauthorized modications or tampering with equipment (including removal of equipment cover by personnel not specically authorized and certied by Omnitron), or misuse, or operating outside the environmental specication of the product (including but not limited to voltage, ambient temperature, radiation, unusual dust, etc.), or improper
site preparation or maintenance.
No other warranty is expressed or implied. Omnitron specifically disclaims the implied warranties of
merchantability and tness for any particular purpose.
Exclusive Remedies
The remedies provided herein are the Buyer’s sole and
exclusive remedies. Omnitron shall not be liable for
any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages, whether based on contract, tort, or any legal
theory.
