FlexPoint™ Fiber to Fiber Converters

User Instructions

Description:

The FlexPoint Fiber to Fiber Converter converts
between single-mode (SM) and multimode (MM) fiber
cable. It operates in Half-Duplex (HD) or Full-Duplex
(FD). The following models are described here:

Power Adapter Notice:

1. When used with an external power adapter, this
product is intended to be and must be used only with
a Listed Direct Plug-In Power Unit marked “Class 2”
and rated at 9VDC, 1 Amp.

2. This product should only be used with an Omnitron
Supplied Power Unit.

3. Models shipped with universal power supplies (models
“44xx-2”) are capable of auto switching from 100­230V , and are supplied with a U.S. type NEMA 5-15
power cable.

4. For products being shipped outside of the U.S., the
user is required to install a properly grounded IEC
320-appliance cable with a minimum rating of
10 AMPs.

5. User-supplied cables must meet the required safety
agency approvals, applicable international standards
and electrical ratings for the region.

WARNING!

Before inserting the Power Adapter , verify that

the power on the unit is appropriate

for your AC line voltage source.

Mounting instructions:

The FlexPoint Fiber Converter can be solo-mounted
using a wall-mounting kit, or rack-mounted using a
5-Module shelf, or a high-density FlexPoint 14-Module
Power-Redundant Chassis.

Cable Attachment to Fiber Converter

FlexPoint Fiber to Fiber models support different fiber
types (multimode and single-mode). Make sure the
fiber connecting to the FlexPoint Fiber converter
matches the description on the module.

FlexPoint Fiber to Fiber models support different
wavelengths (850nm, 1310nm and 1550 nm). Make
sure the wavelength matches the FlexPoint Fiber
converter module.

The FlexPoint transmit (Tx) must attach to the receive
side on other device; the receive (Rx) must attach to
the transmit.

100FF Auto-Negotiation:

The FlexPoint 100FF automatically selects Full or
Half-Duplex operation depending on the features of
the device connected to the media converter.

Warning

Caution

All user-required operations can be performed without
opening the unit. Never attempt to open or remove the cover
or tamper with the unit.

Warranty

This product is warranted to the original purchaser against
defects in material and workmanship for a period of TWO
YEARS from the date of shipment. A LIFETIME warranty
may be obtained by the original purchaser by REGISTERING
this product with Omnitron within 90 days from the date of
shipment. TO REGISTER, COMPLETE AND MAIL OR FAX
THE REGISTRATION POR TION OF THIS INSTRUCTION
MANUAL TO THE INDICATED ADDRESS. Or you may
register your product on the internet at http://www.omnitron­systems.com. During the warranty period, Omnitron will, at
its option, repair or replace a product which is proven to be
defective.
For warranty service, the product must be sent to an Omnitron
designated facility, at Buyer’s expense. Omnitron will pay the
shipping charge to return the product to Buyer’s designated
US address using Omnitron’s standard shipping method.

Limitation of Warranty

The foregoing warranty shall not apply to defects resulting
from improper or inadequate use and/or maintenance of the
equipment by Buyer, Buyer-supplied equipment, Buyer­supplied interfacing, unauthorized modifications or tampering
with equipment (including removal of equipment cover by
personnel not specifically authorized and certified by
Omnitron), or misuse, or operating outside the environmental
specification of the product (including but not limited to voltage,
ambient temperature, radiation, unusual dust, etc.), or
improper site preparation or maintenance.

No other warranty is expressed or implied. Omnitron
specifically disclaims the implied warranties of merchantability
and fitness for any particular purpose.

Exclusive Remedies

The remedies provided herein are the Buyer’s sole and
exclusive remedies. Omnitron shall not be liable for any direct,
indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages,
whether based on contract, tort, or any legal theory.
