Set up USB Data Logger Interface
IMPORTANT: Do not connect the interface cable to your
PC until instructed to do so or the setup will not work.
A Insert the Omega Data Recorder
Software CD into your CD drive. The CD should run automatically, and the CD Contents screen should appear. If it does not, click the Start button and choose Run. A dialog box will appear, enter D:\autorun.exe (If “D” is the letter of your CD drive).
For Windows 7 users this process will be a little different. Click on the Window button in the lower left corner of the screen. This will bring up the Start List. Type ‘Run’ in the ‘Search programs and files’ field. In the next screen click on ‘Run’ at the top; this will open the
Run dialog. Enter D:\autorun.exe.
B Click on the Install Omega
Software link on the CD
Contents screen to start the install of the Data Logger Software. The Install Omega Software window will appear, click on the Install Omega Software link. Follow the on screen prompts to complete the installation. Click Back to Omega CD Contents when completed. See the Software Manual or go online at www.omega.com
for
additional information.
C To install the drivers for the
OM-CP-IFC200/OM-CP-IFC300, click on the Drivers and Third Party Tools link on the CD Contents screen. In the next window click on Install USB Interface Drivers. A window will appear prompting for a directory and to start the installation.
The default directory is C:\Program Files\MTI­USB\Datalogger Interface. If you choose to change the location of the install directory click on the Change Install Location button. Once you have the install location set click on the Install button to start the installation.
OM-CP-IFC200/OM-CP-IFC300
For XP SP3/Vista/Windows 7
A On the OM-CP-IFC300, remove
the Warning Label to expose the USB connector. (The OM-CP
-IFC200 will have an open communication port.) Connect one end of the USB cable to the USB port of the OM-CP-IFC200/ OM-CP-IFC300.
B Connect the other end to a USB
port on your PC. When the OM-CP-IFC200/OM-CP-IFC300 is plugged in, a New Hardware Found message will appear in the lower right corner of your screen. The new drivers will automatically configure themselves for use with the Interface cable. A message will then appear that the new hardware is installed and ready to use.
The installation of the USB data logger interface is complete.

A To verify that the USB Interface drivers are installed properly,
check to ensure the Data Logger Software can recognize a device.
B When the interface cable is connected to the PC the blue LED
power indicator light should be on. If the indicator light is not on, unplug the interface cable, wait 5 seconds and plug it back into the PC.
C Start the Omega Data Logger Software. (If necessary, see the
software manual for additional information on the software)
C Choose Select Comm Port from the Communication menu.
A sub-menu will appear listing the available communication ports. If the USB driver install was successful, and the USB interface is plugged into the PC, then USB1 should appear as an option.
If multiple USB interface cables are connected to the computer they will be listed USB1, USB2, USB3, etc. Use this menu to select the proper device.
E The USB interface can be configured to work with most Omega
Data loggers by selecting the proper baud rate from the Select Baud Rate option under the Communications menu. The baud rate used by the logger is listed on its label. For example the OM-CP-QuadTemp communicates at 115,200 baud, so 115,200 must be selected.
