Congratulations
on your purchase of ”The Wizard Overdrive”, a versatile overdrive pedal producing low to medium-high drive tones.
The Wizard Overdrive has a very ecient Tone control and together with its
High Cut and Low Cut control you have full control over its tonal charac-
teristics. Due to its design with input and output buers it can be used anywhere in your pedal chain without aecting the tone and you can also
add boosters/overdrives in front of it with tremendous result. The Wizard Overdrive has two gain stages, with separate level controls for each, making it easy to get the exact type of overdrive you like.

The controls
Your The Wizard overdrive has six controls: Gain, Drive, Level, Low Cut, High Cut and Tone.
The Gain knob adjust the input sensitivity of the pedal and controls the signal
strength to the input of the rst gain stage.
The Drive knob controls the amount of drive and distortion you like to have and
is placed between the rst and second gain stage.
Use the Level knob to set the overall volume from the pedal.
The Low Cut knob lets you adjust the pedals bottom end response. When using
a lot of gain it’s most of the time necessary to increase (clockwise) the low cut to
get a nice overdrive tone.
The High Cut knob adjusts the high frequency response. This is useful specially when you have a very bright amp. Increase it and you get rid of harsh overtones. Note, that in amps with a controlled high frequency response it’s not always
possible to hear so much dierence when turning this knob all the way up (clockwise).
The Tone knob lets you control the tone characteristics. In the middle position (
around 12 o’clock) it has a rather at frequency response.
Connecting
Input jack - 1/4 inch mono jack input. If you run the pedal on battery, we recommend removing the input jack to preserve battery power when you don’t play.
Output jack - 1/4 inch mono jack output for connecting to another pedal or directly into an amp or mixer.
Power in - use a 9-18 VDC power supply with the following symbol:
Installing or changing battery
Unscrew the four screws on the back of the pedal and detach the back-plate. Demount the old battery and attach the new making sure the polarity is correct. Then remount the back-plate. To save battery life, remove the input jack when you don’t play.
Batteries must never be heated, taken apart or thrown into re or
water. Only rechargeable batteries can be recharged. Remove the battery when the pedal is not being used for a longer period of time. Dispose batteries according to local laws and regulations.

3. Overdrive
Increase both Gain and Drive for overdrive tones. Also increase the High Cut a bit.
When distortion increases the sound can be a bit harsh in some amps. This can be tamed with the High Cut control. Just increase it and you will get rid of it.

1. Unity gain
With this setting you will have unity
gain and a clean tone.
2. Crunch
Increase the drive and gain to get some crunch. Also increase the Low Cut a bit.
When increasing the distortion it’s almost always a good idea to cut the lower frequencies as well.
4. Distortion
Here is a setting to get some great distortion sound. Note that we have increased both High Cut and Low Cut compared to previous example.

6. 70’s distortion
Doing opposite than example 5 and use low Drive setting and high Gain setting will result in a less compressed tone.
7. More 70’s distortion
This is a setting to get even more of 70’s distorted tones.
Crunch with mid boost
In this example we show you how to get some midrange boost by using the Tone control in conjunction with the High Cut and Low cut controls.

5. Compressed distortion
If you use a high Drive setting and a low Gain setting the result will be a more compressed tone. Compare it with example 6.
