*These are only a few selected models from the Qian Series brass telescopes.
Congratulations on your purchase of an Olivon Qian Series brass telescope! This
sophistacated brass telescope was designed by one of China's nest telescope
manufacturers. The name "Qian" was taken from "Zhang Qian" who was a famous
explorer and ocer that explored Central Asia during the 2nd century BCE.
A) Telescope Mount & Tripod Legs
The telescope mount, legs, screws, bolts and nder scope accessories (type 2
model) will be packaged into one box. Be careful when you unpack your items, as
some items may be small and easily overlooked. We recommend that you keep all
original packaging in the event you need to store the telescope or return it for
warranty repair.
Assembly should take about 25 minutes. We suggest you have a second person to
aid you, as the tripod and mount pieces can be cumbersome and heavy. You will
need a small Phillips-head screwdriver and a 5/8" wrench.
1. Gently lay the optical tube and mount on its side. Attach the tripod legs one at a
time to the base of the mount, but rst lining the holes on the top of the tripod
with the holes on the base of the mount. Place a brass washer on either end of the
leg attachment shaft. Then thread an acorn nut on both sides of the threaded shaft.

2. After all three legs have been attached to the tube and
mount, tighten all the acorn nuts with your wrench. Be careful
not to scrape or strip the threading and over tighten them.
3. Some legs of the Qian Series brass telescopes come with a
chained brass pan. To attach this, align the chained brass pan
plates to the holes on the tripod leg locks, then attach them
together with your Phillips-head screwdriver.
If your telescope is a Type 2 Model, then continue to the
Finder Scope assembly section. Otherwise, your telescope is
now fully assembled. Remember to cap the dust cover on the
front of your telescope when not in use.
B) Eyepiece, Diagonal & Finder Scope
Qian
1. Unthread the six thumbscrews on the Finder Scope
brackets until they are level with the inside of the backet. Now
insert the brass Finder Scope into the brackets, so the larger
end is facing the front of the telescope. The grooves on the
body of the Finder Scope should line up with the
thumbscrews equally until the nder scope is secure in the
brackets.
2. Remove the brass cover on the end of the focuser
draw-tube. Insert the chrome barrel of the diagonal into the
focusuer of the telescope and tighten it with the thumbscrew.
3. Insert the chrome barrel of the 25mm eyepiece into the open-end of the diagonal and secure it with the
thumbscrew. Your should now have a fully assempted Type 2 Qian Series brass telesceope!
C) Using Your Telescope
Aiming The Telescope - The Qian series telescope allows movement along two axis: altitude (up and down) and
azimuth (left and right). Loosen the azimuth lock knob and gently rotate the telescope to the desired position, then
tighten up the lock knob again.
To move the telescope up and down, rmly hold onto the telescope's focuser tube, loosen the altitude lock lever just
enough that you can move it, but not too loose that it will fall freely, then adjust it accordingly.
Focusing The Telescope - If you are using a Type 1 Qian Series brass telescope, just aim your telescope towards an
object in the distance, then rotate the focus ring until the object comes into sharp focus.
