HYGROMETER

GENERAL

Hygrometers serve to measure the relative

humidity. The concept “relative humidity” means

that the air depending of the temperature prevailing
at the time, i.e. in relation to it, may receive
respectively contain different quantities of
humidity. If the air temperature drops at unchanged
water content of the air then the relative humidity of
the air rises and conversely. Temperature and air
humidity exert great influence on the physical
wellbeing. Therefore these two parameters should
be given special notice in dwelling and working
rooms.

The synthetic hair hygrometer is for that very
reason a precision instrument. Contrary to the spiral
hygrometer, which theoretically indicates only
correctly at a certain point of the scale, the synthetic
hair hygrometer can be adjusted in such a way that
it indicates reliably over the total scale range due to
the construction.

PUTTING INTO SERVICE

To enable an exact function of the device, the
choice of the measuring place is of particular
importance. When measuring in the open air, the
device must be put on a spot protected from solar
radiation and wind. The device should be placed in
dwelling and working rooms in a spot within steady
temperature and free from the influence of any
heaters.

Our synthetic hair hygrometers are produced and
adjusted with the utmost care.

Shocks during transport or longer storing in dry
rooms may in a particular case cause alterations in
the sensitive measuring part and influence the
indicating accuracy. This may also occur after
longer use in heated rooms with extremely dry air.

A regeneration of the hygrometer is to be
recommended in both cases. This happens by
wrapping the device in a wet towel for about ½
hour. After this time the hygrometer must indicate a
relative humidity of max. 95 – 98%. Deviations can
be corrected by turning the adjusting screw with a
small screw driver. The adjusting screw is visible
through a small hole in the back of the housing.

A SIMPLE REGENERATION is possible by
storing the device several hours in wet atmosphere
for instance in bath rooms, wash-houses or in the
open air on humid foggy days. Should you want to
control the synthetic hair hygrometer with other
devices then it is essential that all devices are put at
the same place closely together. It should be noticed
that considerable variations of the air humidity are
being possible at different measuring points within
closed rooms.

EN GÉNERAL

Les hygromètres mesurent l’humidité de l’air. Avec
la notion « Humidité Relative » s’entend tellement

que l’air dépendant de la température prévalant du

moment, donc en « relation » à cela, peut recevoir
respectivement contenir de différentes quantités de

l’humidité. Si la température de l’air tombe à teneur
en eau constante de l’air, alors « l’humidité

relative » monte, et inversement.

La température et l’humidité de l’air ont une grande

influence sur le bien-être physique. Pour cette
raison ces deux paramètres devraient trouver
utilisation en espaces de vie et de travail.

L’hygromètre à cheveu synthétique est un
instrument de précision. Contrairement à

l’hygromètre à spirale qui théoriquement ne fait
qu’une indication exacte à un point certain de
l’échelle, l’hygromètre à cheveu synthétique peut
être tellement ajusté, grâce à sa construction, qu’il

indique correctement sur toute la plage
d’utilisation.

MISE EN SERVICE

Pour rendre possible un fonctionnement exact de

l’appareil le choix du lieu de mesure est important.

En cas de mesurage en plein air il faut placer

l’hygromètre à cheveu synthétique à un endroit

protégé du soleil et vent. En chambres et salles de

travail il faudrait placer l’appareil à un endroit avec
température équilibrée et exempt de d’influences

de chauffage. Nos hygromètres à cheveu
synthétique sont réalisées et ajustées en soin
minutieux.

Des vibrations pendant le transport et
l’emmagasinage en espaces secs peuvent causer en
cas spécial de variations dans la partie de mesure
sensible et de cette manière influencer la précision

de l’indication. La même chose est aussi possible à
l’utilisation plus longue en espaces chauffées avec
de l’air extrêmement sec. En ces deux cas nous

recommandons la REGENERATION de

l’hygromètre. Cela se fait en enveloppant l’appareil

pour une demie heure dans une serviette bien

humectée. L’appareil doit indiquer une humidité

relative maximale de 95 – 98% âpres ce temps. Des
déviations éventuelles peuvent être corrigées en

tournant la vis d’ajustage avec un petit tournevis.

La vis d’ajustage est visible par un petit trou dans
le fond du boitier.

Une REGENERATION SIMPLE est aussi possible

en mettant l’appareil quelques heures en

atmosphère humide, par exemple salles de bain,
buanderies ou en plein air aux jours brumeux. En
cas de contrôle de l’hygromètre par comparaison

avec d’autres appareils, il faut placer tous les
appareils au même endroit et mettre l’un á côté de
l’autre. Notez que dans des espaces clos, il est

possible d'avoir des variations d'humidité dans les
mêmes points de mesure.
