Optimizer (Hand Held User Interface) OPT-3
The Optimizer is a hand held interface with a keyboard and an alphanumeric display. It is used as an adjustment and diagnostic tool to display various system values and to make adjustments. When the Optimizer is first plugged in, its display will be similar to this:
Start Display
LEFT TRACK RIGHT 45% F 52% F
The Start Display shows the actual outputs to the machine’s tracks. In this example, the SuperFLEX is outputting 45 percent of the maximum current to the EDC (Electric Displacement Control) in the forward direction of the left track, and 52% to the EDC of the right track. The F will change to an R when an output is driving in the reverse direction.
Optimizer “3 Key” Operation
For ease of use, only three of the Optimizers keys are used to make adjustments and access all of the data. The <+> plus and <-> minus keys are used to step or scroll through the various data items. Pressing the <ENTER> key while displaying Threshold, Maximum Out, Ramp Up or Low Range will allow these parameters to be adjusted.
When any adjustment is allowed, the data on the display’s bottom line will flash. The <+> plus and <-> minus keys are then used to increase or decrease the values. The SuperFLEX has built in limits to certain adjustments. For example, the Threshold cannot be set greater than 80%, but the Max Out can be set to 100%. The attached AROTrak System Calibration Diagram ( see drawing A090-6788-00 ) shows all of the possible data items, functions and how to access them by stepping or
scrolling. Whenever a data variable is flashing, it may be adjusted (incremented or decremented). To permanently save the new data, press the <ENTER> key until the display stops flashing.
If the Optimizer is disconnected and re-connected, the system will return to the first display screen. If any adjustments were being made when the optimizer is unplugged (the display is flashing), the changes will be lost.
Threshold Adjustment
L THRESHOLD R F: 15% F: 15%
Threshold sets the minimum amount of output that is applied to the machine’s electrohydraulic valve when the Joystick is just moved in the start of its active region. The Threshold should be set s the machine just starts to move when the Joystick lever is in the “On” position. For convenience, both the Left and Right Thresholds can be adjusted up and down together (both will flash). Each individual Threshold can be adjusted for fine-tuning or balancing.
There are separate adjustments for the Forward and the Reverse directions.
Max Out Adjustment
L MAX OUT R F: 85% F: 85%
Max output sets the maximum amount of output that is applied to the machine’s EDC when the Joystick is moved fully into its active region. Set the Max slightly back, move the joystick off the maximum deflection position and pulse the Minus key until the track starts to slow down, then pulse back up a few counts and enter data. Set the Max Out so that the machine is just at its maximum speed. For convenience, both the Left and Right Max Outputs can be adjusted up and down together (both will flash). Each individual Max Out can be adjusted for fine-tuning or balancing.
There are separate adjustments for the Forward and Reverse directions.
Ramp up Adjustment
This sets the amount of time it takes for the SuperFLEX outputs to increase or “Ramp Up” whenever the Joystick command is rapidly increased.
Low Range Adjustment
This sets the percentage of maximum output that is available when the optional Dual Range control is set to the Low Range position.
