Getting Started with Your Oculus Rift S.
Your Oculus Rift S Computer
Setting up your computer.
To set up your Oculus Rift S or Rift, you'll need to download the Oculus app on your PC. Before you install the Oculus app, check to make sure that your hard drive has enough disk space.
When you install the Oculus app on your computer, it'll be installed on the C: drive. If you want to install the app on a dierent system drive,
read this support article for additional instructions.
To download and install the Oculus app on your computer:
1. Go to www.oculus.com/setup and click
Download Oculus Rift Software
.
2. Open the Oculus app and click
Install Now
.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to create an Oculus account and set up your Rift S or Rift.
When you install the Oculus app on your PC, it's installed on the C: drive. If you want to install the app on a dierent system drive, make sure that the new system drive has at least 4 GB of free disk space and is formatted to use the NTFS le system.

To install the Oculus app on a dierent system drive:
1. Press the
Windows key
+ R to open the Run command.
2. Enter the following path:
[drive]
:\Downloads\OculusSetup /drive
=[new
system drive]
.
- Replace [drive] with the letter of the drive where Oculus was downloaded to.
- Replace [new system drive] with the letter of the new drive you'd like to install Oculus to.
E.g. C:\Downloads\OculusSetup /drive=D or C:\Downloads\OculusSetup /drive:D.
3. Click OK.
The Oculus app will then open and attempt to install the app on the new drive you've chosen.
Keyboard shortcuts allow you to quickly access controls and features in the Oculus app on your computer using your keyboard.
To use keyboard shortcuts, type the following while using the Oculus PC app:

Open Settings Ctrl + 5

Before you set up your Oculus Rift or Rift S, check to make sure that the following things are up to date:
Graphics Card
Graphics drivers enable your graphics card hardware to communicate with your computer. Staying up to date with the latest drivers available for your graphics card is needed for a smooth experience with Oculus Rift or Rift S. Occasionally, you may need to repair or uninstall and reinstall your graphics drivers to resolve a driver-related issue.

USB drivers allow a hardware device, such as an Oculus Rift or Rift S, to communicate with your computer. Staying up to date with the latest drivers enables a smooth experience with Oculus Rift or Rift S. Occasionally, you may need to repair or uninstall and reinstall your USB drivers to resolve a driver-related issue.
USB driver updates should be included with Windows updates. If you're having a problem with your USB drivers, check to make sure that you're running the most up-to-date version of Windows. If this doesn't solve the problem, you can also install updates directly from your manufacturer's website:

For the full Oculus Rift S experience, we recommend that your PC computer has a

Oculus Rift S with

works best with a safe, unobstructed
playing area of at least 2 by 2 metres (6.5 by 6.5 feet).
Using the Oculus Compatibility Check Tool
Before you buy an Oculus Rift or Rift S, we recommend that you run the Oculus compatibility check tool to make sure that your PC can
power the full Rift experience.
To run the Rift or Rift S compatibility check tool
:
1. Go to https://ocul.us/compat-tool to download the compatibility check tool.
2. Open the tool and click
Start
.
Tool Results
After running the compatibility check tool, it'll tell you if your computer:
Meets or exceeds the recommended system specications
. If your computer meets or exceeds the recommend system specs, you should be able to power the full Rift or Rift S experience.

Meets or exceeds the minimum system specs
. If your computer meets or exceeds the minimum system specs, you should be able to run the Rift or Rift S, but you may come across problems that we won't be able to x.
Doesn't meet the minimum system specs
. If your computer doesn't meet the minimum system specs, you may not be able to run the Rift or Rift S at all. If you still decide to buy a Rift or Rift S, we won't be held responsible if your device doesn't work on your computer.
Note
: The Oculus Compatibility Tool does not guarantee compatibility
with all-in-one PCs or laptops.
Your Computer Doesn't Meet The Specs
If you nd out that your computer doesn't meet the minimum or recommended system specs after running the compatibility check tool, you can:
Upgrade the components you need to meet the minimum or recommended system specs.
Buy an Oculus-ready PC.
The Oculus Rift S and Rift are currently optimised to work with Windows PCs.
