1 Unpacking boxes
Procedures for unpacking boxes are explained. This product is packaged separately, divided into the
printer and the stand.
1.1 Unpacking printer box
Unpack the printer box in accordance with the following steps.
1. Carry the box to where you will unpack it.
2. Remove the bands.
3. Open the box and take out the following components.

1. Carry the box to where you will unpack it.

After unpacking, please confirm that the product has not damaged and no components are missing.

CAUTION Make sure to unpack this product with three persons or more.
While taking out the printer from the box, make sure to remove the vinyl sheet and hold the handles on the printer side. If the printer is lifted with the vinyl sheet attached, there is a possibility that the printer might slip from your hands and be damaged.

CAUTION

NOTE
Make sure to hold the specified positions when lifting
the product. This prevents the product from being fallen and broken.
Do not hold the media guide. This may affect the
accuracy and correct operation of the product.

3 Assembling
Procedures for assembling this product are explained.
3.1 The stand assembling procedure
If you will use the stand, assemble it in accordance with the following steps.
1. Follow the steps shown below to assemble the right side of the stand.
a. Attach the right support to the caster section. b. Fasten two hexagon socket head cap screws
with the enclosed hexagonal wrench.
2. Assemble the left side of the stand in a similar
way to step 1.
3. Follow the steps shown below to attach the central beam to the legs (left, right).
a. Attach the central beam and four hexagon socket
head cap screws to the stand (the left, the right).
b. Fasten the hexagon socket head cap screws with
the enclosed hexagonal wrench, and fasten the central beam.
4. Follow the steps shown below to attach the Stabilizer to the Stand.
a. Use 4 Hexagon socket head cap screws to
attach the Stabilizer to the right and left sides of the Stand (2 each side).
b. Tighten the Hexagon socket head cap screws
using the Hexagonal wrench.
5. Attach the waste fluid tank holder to the right stand using four screws.
6. Attach the book holder to the right side of the stand.
7. Confirm that each component is fastened firmly by gently shaking the stand.
3.2 Assembling the stand
Attach the stand to the printer in accordance with the following steps.
1. Lock two casters on the front side.
2. Hold the following positions when lifting the product.
Panel side : two grips under the product Opposed side :two rubber grips under the product
3. Place the product on the stand so that the rear rubber leg tips fit into the holes on the stand.
4. Attach two butterfly bolts to the stand.
5. Follow the steps shown below to set the Waste fluid tank.
a. Put the Waste fluid tank in the Waste fluid
tank holder.
b. Attach the Waste fluid tube to the Waste fluid
tank.
c. Attach the Waste fluid sensor cable to the
Waste fluid sensor connector.

NOTE
If the [Power] key is pressed, the product is turned ON. Press the key again, and turn OFF the power.
 Be sure to use the specified power ca-
ble(separately sold) .
Using power cables other than the
specified can cause an electric shock or fire .
 Use a power cord set which is compati-
ble with the safety standards, power supply voltage, and plug shape used in the country where this printer is used .
Use a power cord set which is equip-
ped with a protective earth, and se­curely connect it to the outlet .
 Do not use a damaged power cable. It
may cause an electric shock or fire .
WARNING
3.3 Detaching protective materials
This product has protective materials in the place shown below. Detach all protective materials in accordance with the following steps.
1. Remove all tapes from each cover.
2. Open the front cover and remove the CR belt clip from the CR belt.
This completes detaching protective materials.
4 Installation
Procedures and environment for installing this product are explained.
4.1 Installation environment
Install this product to the appropriate place with refer­ence to the following.
4.1.1 Installation environmental condition
Select an installation location in accordance with the table below.
4.1.2 Installation space
Install on a level floor which meets the following con­dition.
It has enough strength to support the weight of the printer and the stand.
4.2  Installation procedure
1. Check that the two butterfly bolts attaching the stand and the printer are not loose.
2. Carry the printer to the installation place.
3. Lock two casters on the front side.
4. Check that the two butterfly bolts attaching the stand and the printer are not loose.
5. Confirm that the waste fluid valve is closed.
5 Connecting the power cable
This section explains how to connect the power cable.
Follow the steps below to connect the power cable.

WARNING
  Do not install the printer in the follow-
ing places where there is a possibility that the printer may be damaged or might fall or be fallen by chance .
On a shaky stand Slanting location Places where vibration of other machines etc. is transmitted .
Do not stamp on the printer or do not place heavy things on top of it. The printer may be damaged or might fall or be fallen by chance .
Cover the printer with blanket and cloth like tablecloth and do not close the vent. If the vent is closed, the print­er could accumulate heat inside and may cause fire .
Do not install the printer in a location that has high humidity or is dusty. It could lead to electric shock and fire .

NOTE
For temperature and humidity, avoid locations
such as the following. There is a possibility that the print quality will be affected.
Places where temperature or humidity may rapidly change, even though within the required conditions. Places that receive direct sunlight, increased illu­mination or direct air, for example from an air
conditioner. To keep the temperature and humidity constant, in­stall this product in a location where the air condi­tion is adjustable.

2. Connect the power cable to the AC inlet on the back of the product.
3. Correctly insert the power cable plug into the pow­er socket.
6
Turning the power ON/OFF
This section explains how to turn ON/OFF the printer.
6.1 Turning the power ON
Follow the procedure below to turn ON the printer.
1. Press the [Power] key on the operation panel to turn ON the printer.
The Power lamp on the operation panel lights up in blue.
The printer starts initial operation.When the initial operation is complete, the printer
enters normal status.
6.2 Turning the power OFF
Follow the procedure below to turn OFF the printer.
1. Regarding the operating condition of the printer,
confirm the following.
Printing or other operations are not in progress.The operation panel is in normal status.The head height adjustment lever is lowered.
2. Press the [Power] key on the operation panel to turn OFF the printer.
The Power lamp on the operation panel turns OFF.
The printer starts operating to turn the power OFF.The operation panel displays "Power Off".
All the lamps on the operation panel and the LCD
monitor are turned OFF. The printer automatically turns the power OFF.
7 Setting the display
language and unit
Once activation has been completed, the printer requires setting of the language, temperature unit, and length unit at the time of restart.
Follow the procedure below to setup.
1. Once activation has been completed, "Reboot a printer" is displayed on the Operation panel. Press the [Power] key on the Operation panel and turn the power OFF.
2. Press the [Power] key on the Operation panel and turn the power ON.
"Language: English" is displayed on the Operation panel.
4. Press [+] or [-] key on the Operation panel to select the set value, and press the [Enter] key.
To set the language to Japanese, select "Language: Japanese".
"Temp: Celsius[C]" is displayed on the Operation panel.
5. Press [+] or [-] key on the Operation panel to select the set value, and press the [Enter] key.
To set the temperature unit to Celsius, select "Temp: Celsius [C]".
"Length: mm" is displayed on the Operation panel.
6. Press [+] or [-] key on the Operation panel to select the set value, and press the [Enter] key.
To set the length unit to mm, select "Length: mm".
This completes the setting the display language and
units.
The printer starts initial operation.When the initial operation is complete, the printer
enters normal status.
NOTE
If the head height adjustment lever is raised, the
operation panel displays "Change Head Gap Low". Lower the head height adjustment lever.
Operation Manual "4.2.5.2 When returning the print head to the original position"
If "Smart/C End" is displayed on the Operation
panel, follow "Printer activation guide" (separate
volume) and perform "Renew Smart/C". Printer activation guide "A-8 Renewing Smart/C" "B-3 Renewing Smart/C"

If the operation panel is in the following status,
the power is ON.
The [Power] key is pressed in. The Power lamp lights up in blue.

8 Installing the ink cartridge
This section explains how to install ink cartridges. Follow the steps below to install ink cartridges.
8.1 Installing 220ml ink cartridges
1. Turn the printer ON.
The printer starts the initializing operation.After the initial operation is compete, "Start Ink
Charge ? > E" is displayed on the operation panel.
2. Press the [Enter] key on the operation panel.
"Insert Cleaning cart." is displayed on the operation panel.
3. Take out the cleaning cartridge(4pcs) from the bag.
4. Set the cleaning cartridge to the ink cartridge slot. Keep mark of the cleaning cartridge facing up
and insert towards the printer side.
Insert the cleaning cartridge all the way to the end of the slot.
When all cleaning cartridges are installed,
"Busy-Washing" is displayed on the operation
panel, and the printer starts charging the cleaning fluid. When the cleaning fluid has been charged,
"Remove Cartridges" is displayed on the operation
panel.
5. Remove all the cleaning cartridges.
"Busy-Washing" is displayed on the operation
panel and the printer starts head cleaning. When head cleaning is complete, "Wash retry? No"
is displayed on the operation panel.

6. Press the [Enter] key on the operation panel.
"Insert InkCartridges" is displayed on the operation panel.
7. Take out the ink cartridge from the bag
8. Shake the ink cartridge gently two to three times and insert it into the printer.
Make sure that the ink cartridges are inserted into the correct slots. Match the mark in front of the slot and the color of the ink before inserting the ink cartridge.
Keep mark of the ink cartridge facing up and in­sert towards the printer side.
Insert the ink cartridge all the way to the end of the slot.
When an ink cartridge is installed, "Ink Refill **%" is displayed on the operation panel and ink replenish­ment starts.
Initial filling takes about eight minutes.Ink filling operation and pause operation are repeated during the ink replenishment.
When "100%" is displayed, the ink replenishment is complete.
After the ink replenishment is complete, "Media End" is displayed on the operation panel.

NOTE
Do not perform the following operations during ink
filling. If filling is interrupted,ink will be lost when
filling is resumed. Do not turn OFF the power of the printer. Do not unplug the power cable of the printer. Do not open the front cover. Do not raise the media loading lever.
NOTE
If the printer performs the nozzle check printing
immediately after initial ink replenishment is
complete, the following results may occur. Printed lines become blurred. The data is partially not printed.
In such cases, follow "6.2.3 Head cleaning" and refill
a small amount of ink. Then, check the printing
result. If there is no improvement in the print result even
after refill a small amount of ink, leave the printer
unused for an hour or more. Then, refill a small
amount of ink again and check the print result. If there is still no improvement, contact your local
Océ dealer.
NOTE
To install or remove the cleaning fluid pack and
smart chip card to/from the high capacity pack adapt­er, refer to the operation manual included with high capacity pack adapter.
NOTE
Make sure that the cleaning fluid pack and smart
chip are installed on the high capacity pack adapter before inserting it to the slot. If the high capacity pack adapters are inserted into the slot without the cleaning fluid pack, the remaining information will be rewritten and the cleaning fluid pack will not be usable.

8.2 Installing high capacity pack adapters   (option)
1. Turn the printer ON.
The printer starts the initializing operation.After the initial operation is compete, "Start Ink

"Insert Cleaning cart." is displayed on the operation panel.
3. Take out the cleaning fluid packs (4 pcs) from the bag.
4.Install the cleaning fluid pack and smart chip card to the high capacity pack adapters.
5. Insert the high capacity pack adapters into the ink cartridge slot.
Insert the high capacity pack adapter all the way to the end of the slot.
When all high capacity pack adapters are installed,
"Busy-Washing" is displayed on the operation panel,
and the printer starts charging the cleaning fluid.
When the cleaning fluid has been charged, "Remove Cartridges" is displayed on the operation panel.

7. Remove all the high capacity pack adapters.
"Busy-Washing" is displayed on the operation pan­el and the printer starts head cleaning.
When head cleaning is complete, "Wash retry? No" is displayed on the operation panel.
8. Press the [Enter] key on the operation panel.
"Insert InkCartridges" is displayed on the operation panel.
9. Remove the cleaning fluid pack and smart chip card from the high capacity pack adapter.
10. Install the ink pack and smart chip card to high ca­pacity pack adapter.
11.Shake the high capacity pack adapter gently two to three times and insert it to the slot.
Insert the high capacity pack adapter all the way to the end of the slot.
When a high capacity pack adapter is installed, "Ink Refill **%" is displayed on the operation panel and ink replenishment starts.
The ink replenishment takes about four minutes. Ink filling operation and pause operation are repeat
 ed during the ink replenishment.When "100%" is displayed, the ink replenishment is
 complete.
After the ink replenishment is complete, "Media
End" is displayed on the operation panel.
9 Loading roll media
This section explains how to load roll media. Follow the steps below to load roll media.
1. Set roll media in the scroller so that the roll media gets winded up in the direction of anti-clockwise when viewed from the fixed flange side.
2. Push the roll media until its core hits the right edge of the fixed flange.
3. Attach the movable flange so that it is firmly at­tached to the roll media core.
4. Set the scroller onto the scroll receiver with the
fixed flange side facing the ink cartridge slots.
5. Turn ON the product.
The product starts the initial operation.The operation panel displays "Media End".
6. Push the media loading lever backward.
The operation panel displays "Lever Up".
7. Feed the roll media into the media feed slot.
8. Open the front cover, and pull out the roll media.

NOTE
If the Nozzle check printing is performed immediately
after the ink replenishment is complete, the following results may occur.
Printed line becomes blurred.
The data is partially not printed. In such cases, follow the Operation Manual "6.2.3 Head cleaning" and charge a small amount of ink. Then, check the printing result. If there is no improvement in the print result even after refilling a small amount of ink, leave the printer for one hour or more, and refill a small amount of ink again. If there is still no improvement, contact your local Océ dealer.
NOTE
Do not remove only cleaning fluid pack while high
capacity pack adapter is installed on the printer. The information of the remaining smart chip card will be rewritten and the cleaning fluid pack will not be usa­ble.
NOTE
Do not perform the following operations during ink

9. Press and hold the front edge of the roll media and wind it back with the scroller to remove a media bend or slant.
10. Return the media loading lever to the front and close the front cover.
11. Press the [+] key or [-] key on the operation panel to select the type of the loaded media and press the [Enter] key.
This confirms the media type. The operation panel displays "Media Initial", and
media initial operation starts.
After the media initial operation is completed, the
operation panel displays "Ready to Print", and the display enters normal status.
12. Wind back the roll media with the scroller to remove a media bend.
The media loading is complete.

Checking printing conditions
Check the condition of the print head after the ink replenishment.
1. Turn ON the printer and load the roll media.

2. Confirm that the printer functions normally.
3. Press the [<] key on the operation panel for two seconds or more.
Nozzle check printing starts.
4. Check the sample print for blurred or missing parts in the check pattern.
5. If the nozzle check result indicates that there is a problem such as mentioned above in the check pattern, clean the head. Press and hold the [Cleaning] key on the operation panel for two seconds or more.
The operation panel displays "Cleaning **%". Head cleaning starts.
6. Perform nozzle check again and check the condition of the print head.
7. Perform nozzle check again and check the condition of the print head.

NOTE
If one time of head cleaning was not enough to
remove blurred or missing parts in the check pattern, perform powerful cleaning. If those problems above were not improved after a few times of head cleaning, refer to the Operation Manual "7 Troubleshooting" and perform required procedures.
