Danger

The liquid in dry cell batteries may cause blindness. If the liquid gets into your eyes, do not rub them; immediately rinse them with



clean water. See a doctor immediately.
When inserting dry cell batteries, ensure that the positive and negative ends are properly aligned. Otherwise, they may leak, heat



up, or burst, and then may cause fires, electric shocks, burns and injuries.
Follow the instructions below regarding dry cell batteries. Otherwise, they may leak, heat up, or burst, and then may cause fires,



electric shocks, burns and injuries.

• Do not put the batteries in fire, or heat them up,

• Do not solder the batteries directly,

• Do not connect the positive and negative ends to wires or other metal objects,

• Do not rip off or scratch the exterior tubes (covers),

• Do not soak or wet the batteries in water, including sea water.

Do not disassemble or remodel dry cell batteries. Otherwise, they may leak, heat up, or burst, and then may cause fires, electric



shocks, burns and injuries.

Product Installation

Warning

Do not place any items filled with water or other liquids, such as coffee cups, water glasses, vases, flowerpots, cosmetics, or



medicine containers near the product or its power adapter. Also do not place small metal objects near the product or its power
adapter. Spilling water and other liquids or allowing small metal objects to enter onto the product or its power adapter, may cause
a fire or electric shock.
Do not place the product or its power adapter in the following environments, as doing so may cause a fire, electric shock or



equipment failure.

• Outdoor locations, locations exposed to direct sunlight, and high-temperature locations such as those near heating equipment
or a boiler.

• Locations exposed to spattering oil and steam, such as those near a kitchen counter.

• Humid locations or locations subject to water, oil or chemicals.

• Litter- and dust-prone locations, and locations where iron powder or toxic gas is generated.

• Particularly low-temperature locations, such as an ice-making storage area.

Do not place or use your R-Talk 800EX in a place:



• Where an electric medical device is close by,

• Where an automatic door, fire alarm system or other automatically controlled device is close by,

• Where there is a pacemaker within 22 cm of the product.

Product Handling

Warning

Use a commercial AC100-240V power source only for the power adapter. The use of a different source may cause a fire or



electric shock.
Be sure the power adapter is inserted securely into the power outlet. Incomplete insertion may cause a fire or electric shock.



Be sure to use a dedicated power adapter. Never use a different type of power adapter, as doing so may cause a fire or electric



shock.
Do not connect power to multiple extensions using power strips, branching outlets or branching sockets. Doing so may cause a



fire or electric shock.
Be sure there is no dust on the power adapter before inserting it into the power outlet. Disconnect the power adapter from the



power outlet once every six months to a year for inspection and cleaning. The accumulation of dust may cause a fire or electric
shock. Consult the store where you purchased the product regarding inspection.
Using the product in an abnormal condition, such as in the presence of smoke or strange odors, may cause a fire or electric



shock. In the event there is smoke, immediately disconnect the power adapter from its power outlet and disconnect the USB cable
from the USB port, and remove the dry cell batteries. Be sure the smoking has ceased before requesting repair from the store
where you purchased the product. Never try to repair it yourself, as it is dangerous.
If you drop the product or damage the cabinet, or if a foreign object or water enters the product or power adapter, immediately



disconnect the power adapter from its power outlet and disconnect the USB cable from the USB port, and remove the dry cell
batteries. And then, request repair from the store where you purchased the product. Continuing to use the product may cause a
fire or electric shock.
Do not disassemble or alter the product, as doing so may cause a fire or electric shock. Request inspection, adjustment, cleaning



and repair of the product’s interior from the store where you purchased it (disassembled or altered products may be subject to the
refusal of repair).
Do not scratch, damage, convert, forcibly bend, pull, twist or bundle the power adapter cord or USB cable. Further, placing a heavy



object on the cord or heating it may damage the cord and thereby cause a fire or electric shock. Request repair of a damaged
cord from the store where you purchased the product.
Using the power adapter cord or USB cable when damaged (e.g. when its internal wires are exposed or broken) may cause a fire



or electric shock. Immediately disconnect the power adapter from its power outlet and disconnect the USB cable from the USB
port, and request repair from the store where you purchased the product.
Be cautious when disconnecting the power adapter from the power outlet when any problems mentioned below are detected.



Do not pour water on the product or its power adapter, nor operate the product or connect/disconnect the power adapter with wet



hands, as doing so may cause a fire or electric shock.
While cleaning the product, leave the power adapter disconnected from its power outlet, and also leave the USB cable



disconnected from the USB port. Otherwise, a fire or electric shock may occur.
Do not use flammable spray near the product. A sprayed-on gas, if it adheres to an inside component of the product, may cause a



fire or electric shock.
Do not use alcohol, benzene, thinner or other flammable solvents to clean the product. Flammable solvents attached to an inside



component of the product or volatile gases filling the interior of the product may cause a fire or electric shock.
Do not insert or drop any foreign objects such as metals or flammable objects into the inside of the product from any of its



openings. Should a foreign object enter the product, immediately disconnect the power adapter from its power outlet and
disconnect the USB cable from the USB port, remove the dry cell batteries, and contact the store where you purchased the
product. Continuing to use the product may cause a fire or electric shock. Families with small children should be particularly
careful.
Do not use the product for medical purposes or for purposes that require a high degree of safety. Doing so may cause death or



severe injury, leading to considerable disorientation.
If you wish to relocate the product, be sure that the power adapter has been disconnected, and also that the USB cable has been.



Otherwise, the power adapter and USB cable may be damaged, and a fire or electric shock may occur.
Be sure you are holding the power adapter when disconnecting the adapter from the power outlet. Pulling the power adapter cord



itself may damage it and thereby lead to a fire, electric shock and cord breakage.
Do not place the product, power adapter cord or USB cable near a heat source. Doing so may melt the coating of the cabinet or



the cord, leading to a fire or electric shock.
Should thunder occur nearby, disconnect the power adapter from the power outlet and refrain from using the product. Using the



product during a thunderstorm may cause a fire or electric shock.
If the liquid in dr y cell batteries gets onto your skin or clothes, wash it off immediately with clean water. The liquid can cause skin



problems.

Product Installation

Notice

Do not place the product on any unstable surface such as a wobbly or tilted platform. Furthermore, do not place any heavy object



on the product. Doing so may disrupt the balance of the object and knock it down or make it fall, causing injury.
Do not wire outdoors. Wiring between buildings through the air may particularly cause failure due to thunder.



Product Handling

Notice

If you do not use the product for a prolonged period, for safety reasons, be sure to disconnect the power adapter from its power



outlet and to disconnect the USB cable from the USB port, and to remove the dry cell batteries.
Do not ride on the product. Families with small children should be particularly careful. The rider may topple over or break the



product, causing injury.
On rare occasions, the anti-slip rubber applied to the bottom of the product may discolor the surface that is exposed to it.



Be sure your ears are away from the speaker when powering the product on or off, or when connecting or disconnecting the USB



cable, handset cord or cell phone cable. High-volume sound from the speaker may harm human ears.
To avoid high-volume sound from the product's speaker or from the other party's, which may harm human ears, do not switch on



or off the product during a teleconference. Also, do not connect or disconnect a USB cable, handset cord, cell phone cable and
external microphone cable during a teleconference to avoid the same hazard.
Follow the instructions below to properly use dry cell batteries.



• Dry cell batteries you may use are valid AA alkaline batteries.

• Do not use new dry cell batteries together with used ones; do not mix different types of dry cell batteries.

• Replace exhausted batteries immediately.

• NTT Advanced Technology is not liable for any malfunction of the product due to liquid leaks from your dry cell batteries.

Product Installation

Do not place the product near electronics, audiovisual devices, office machines and other magnetized equipment, nor in locations



where electromagnetic rays are generated (e.g., microwave ovens, speakers, television sets, radios, fluorescent lamps, inverter air
conditioner and electromagnetic ovens).

• Influence by magnetism or electrostatic noise may increase noise or render telephone conversation impossible. (The use of a
microwave oven may have a particularly significant influence.)

• Locations near a television or radio may cause poor reception or distorted television images.

• If you experience significant noise due to the presence of a broadcasting or radio station nearby, try moving the product to a
different location.

Locations where hydrogen sulfide exists (hot springs) or locations with high salt concentrations (seashores) may shorten the life



of the product.

Product Handling

Caution

When re-POWERING the product after turning it off, wait at least five seconds before turning it on.



Do not drop the product or subject it to strong impact, as doing so may cause failure.



Do not wipe the product with wet cloth, benzene, thinner or alcohol, as doing so may discolor or disfigure it. Excessive dirt may be



wiped off with a moistened cloth and mild detergent, after which a dry, soft cloth should be used to clean the product.
Note the following when speaking hands-free:



• Do not place any object in front of the microphone.

• Do not cover the microphone with your hands. The product may beep.

• The sound from the speaker may be cut off in the following situations:

- When you star t speaking before the other party has finished speaking;

- When you star t speaking simultaneously with the other party;

- When the noises sur rounding the product are loud.

The R-Talk 800EX is a product that does not easily enable a third party to intercept a call made using digital signals. A third



party can receive your calls intentionally or accidentally in an uncommon way, since radio waves are used for signal transmission.
Please consider this issue carefully.

Radio Wave Interference

The radio system of the R-Talk 800EX is Bluetooth, which uses radio waves in the frequency range of 2.4
GHz. Radio waves with this frequency are used for various devices, such as microwave ovens and
wireless LAN devices; therefore, you may have interruptions or other sound issues during a call, due to
radio wave interference. Also, devices nearby may be less well operated or performed. The R-Talk 800EX
is not easily affected by radio waves; however, note the following points:

If the R-Talk 800EX is operating near a microwave oven or another device, you may have interruptions, or the product may stop



working. Please keep the R-Talk 800EX away from a microwave oven, etc. (Over approx. three meters)
Please keep the product three meters away from a radio, television, wireless device or antenna. Otherwise, a sound or image



problem occurs.
If the R-Talk 800EX is operating at the same time as a wireless LAN device, such as a router, an AV device, or a security device,



you may have interruptions, connection is disabled, or the device may be affected. Please keep the R-Talk 800EX as far away as
possible from the wireless LAN device.
The following devices use 2.4 GHz radio waves. If any of the devices is near, you may have interruptions, or the product may stop



working. Also, the other party may be affected. Please place or use the devices as far away as possible.

• A wireless game controller,

• A factory, warehouse, or other logistics management system,

• An anti-shoplifting security gate (seen in a bookstore or CD shop),

• The identification system of a railroad vehicle or emergency vehicle,

• A wireless LAN device (a TV, video, computer, etc),

• A fire alarm system,

• A medical microwave device,

• An automatic door or other automatically controlled device,

• An amateur radio station,

• A Bluetooth-enabled device, etc.

A wireless system in the frequency range of 2.400 to 2.4835 GHz is built in the R-Talk 800EX and cannot



avoid the bandwidth of devices used for identifying mobile objects. The modulation method is "FH-SS" and
the interference distance is 10 meters.
The information is available on the mark shown to the right. The mark is attached to the R-Talk 800EX.

Notes on Radio Waves

The R-Talk 800EX operates in the same frequency bandwidth as industrial, scientific, and medical
devices such as microwave ovens, premises radio stations (license required) and specified low-power
radio stations (license not required) used for identifying mobile objects in factory production lines, and
amateur radio stations (license required).

Before using the R-Talk 800EX, be sure that no premises radio station or specified low-power radio station used for identifying



mobile objects is operating nearby, and also that no amateur radio station is.
If the R-Talk 800EX causes any radio interference against a premises radio station used for identifying mobile objects,



immediately disable your Bluetooth connection. For instructions to avoid interference problems (e.g. how to set up a par tition),
please contact the store where you purchased the product.
Also, please contact the store where you purchased the product if the R-Talk 800EX causes any radio interference against a



specified low power wireless station used for identifying mobile objects, or if you have any other troubles.

Speaker/Microphone volume



There are 12 speaker/microphone volume levels. The factory setting is “6”. The speaker volume is reset to “6” when you
turn the main unit off and on again. The microphone volume remains at the adjusted level even if you turn off the main
unit.

To use batteries



Insert four AA alkaline batteries into the battery holder. New batteries enable you to perform conversations in
approximately 120 minutes (when the speaker volume is “6”). When the batteries are exhausted, the main unit does not
operate. AA alkaline batteries are not supplied with the main unit.

Caution

You cannot connect Handset Cord, Cell Phone Cable and USB Cable to the main unit at the same time.



Connecting to the Cell Phone via Bluetooth

You can have a hands-free conversation with the other party by wirelessly connecting the

main unit to a cell phone via Bluetooth.

Performing Pairing (Registering) With a Bluetooth Device

To use the Bluetooth function, the pairing (registering) with the cell phone is required. For the
operation of the cell phone, please refer to its user’s manual.
Once the Bluetooth device is paired (registered), you can reconnect them only by connection
operation (see p. 15).

connection within approximately ten minutes.
If the connection procedure is not performed within
approximately ten minutes, the Bluetooth connection is
disabled.
In this case, you need to turn the main unit off and
perform the procedure again.

The Bluetooth light is off approximately ten minutes

after turning on the main unit or disabling the Bluetooth
connection between a cell phone and the main unit.

Use cell phones near the main unit (within 5 m).



When the cell phone and the main unit are away



more than the transmission distance of the Bluetooth
(approximately 5 m), the Bluetooth connection is
disabled.
In this case, you turn the main unit off and perform the
procedure again.

Depending on the environment, a conversation may be



cut off even when using cell phone within 5 m from the
main unit. In this case, you need to put the cell phone
closer to the main unit.

When the cell phone receives a call during Bluetooth

connection, you will hear Ringing tone from the main

Note

Connecting the USB cable to the personal computer in step 1 above causes the main unit to be recognized as an audio



device of the computer even when the power of the main unit is off.
If the batteries are contained in the main unit, and you turn off the personal computer when the power of the main unit



is on, the power source is switched to the batteries and they start to discharge.
For details on using your Web conferencing application or VoIP telephone software, please see the manual that was



included with that software.

How to Use the External Microphone

When the internal microphone does not pick up sound well in a large space, such as a

LIMITED WARRANTY

NTT Advanced Technology Corporation (NTT-AT) warrants that this product is free of defects in both materials and
workmanship for a period of one year from the date of purchase or such duration as NTT-AT may announce for particular
products.
Should any part of this product be defective, NTT-AT agrees, at its option, to repair or replace the product or any defective
part free of charge as defined in this warranty.
Replacement products or parts may be new or reconditioned. This warranty period begins on the date the Customer is
invoiced for the product, provided the Customer provides proof of purchase that demonstrates that the product is still
within the warranty period and return the product within the warranty period to NTT-AT Communications according to the
warranty terms set forth below. NTT-AT also warrants any replaced or repaired product or part for ninety (90) days from
shipment, or the remainder of the initial warranty period, whichever is longer.

Terms & Conditions

1, Product returned to NTT-AT must be issued a valid RMA (Return Material Authorization) number. To request an RMA,

contact NTT-AT customer support

2. Prior to receiving an RMA, the product must first be troubleshot and determined to be defective by a NTT-AT customer
support representative.

3. Product returned to NTT-AT must contain all of the original accessories and be send prepaid and properly packaged in
the appropriate NTT-AT packaging container. It is recommended that shipment be insured or sent by a method that
provides for tracking of the package.

4. This warranty does not cover damage to the product during shipping and NTT-AT assumes no responsibility for such
damage.

5. Product Returned to NTT-AT must have a valid RMA# clearly marked on the outside of the shipping container and the
serial number and model of the returned product must match the RMA.
