OPERATION MANUAL

NEVER use flammable liquids, (gas,
kerosene, solvents, or thinners) to clean
the floor.
NEVER use this machine to pick up
anything that is burning or smoking, such
as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
INTENDED USE
The Porter 14 Sweeper is intended for commercial
use, sweeping floors in an indoor environment.
NSS does not recommend using these machines for
any other purpose.
FOR SAFETY
• ALWAYS read and understand all instructions
before operating or servicing machine.
• ALWAYS use this machine ONLY as described in
this manual.
• NEVER attempt to operate this machine unless you
have been trained in its operation.
• NEVER allow an untrained person to operate this
machine.
• NEVER attempt to operate this machine if it is not
working properly or has been damaged in any
manner.
• NEVER disconnect or modify any switches or
safety devices.
• NEVER drop or insert any object into any machine
opening.
• NEVER allow this machine to be used as a toy.
Close attention is necessary when used by or near
children.
• ALWAYS keep face, fingers, hair or any other body
part or loose clothing away from any machine
opening or moving part (revolving brush).
• ALWAYS use extreme care when cleaning on
stairs or when machine is placed on stairs.
• NEVER operate machine with out debris box in
place.
• NEVER spray this machine with water or any other
liquids.
• NEVER operate this machine outdoors.
• NEVER expose the machine to rain, snow, or
extreme temperatures.
• ALWAYS store this machine indoors in a dry, cool
area.
• ALWAYS

proper voltage rating.
• NEVER operate this machine with a broken or
damaged battery. Always inspect the battery for
any cracks or damage.
• NEVER charge your machine on a damp or wet
surface.
• NEVER charger this machine near an open flame
or where there could be sparks.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Now that the machine is unpacked remember
•
to recycle all packing materials.
• Inspect the machine for damage or missing
components. If damage is found, contact the
local freight company to file a freight claim
ASSEMBLY
Handle
• Place the operating
handle on the peg
provided.
• Using a standard
screwdriver, secure the
handle with the two pan
head screws provided
with your machine.
Battery Charging
This machine had the option of recharging the
battery while still in the machine or by using a
battery docking station.

Battery in Machine
• Ensure that the battery has been properly installed
in the machine.
• Plug the charger into an appropriate 110-120VAC,
60hz outlet.
• Insert the charging plug into the charging port on
the right of the machine.
• The Red light on the charger will flash when
charging in complete.
Debris box
• The debris box should already be in the
machine. If not, place it in with the opening
toward the front of the machine and the filter
slots facing upward
.
Battery
• This machine comes with a 9 Amp hour,
sealed lead acid battery. The battery needs to
be charged for 8 hours prior to use.
• To install the battery lift the battery
retainer latch at the top of the battery
compartment, located at the rear of your
machine. Holding the battery by the handle,
making sure the terminal contacts are on the
right side, slide the battery into the battery
compartment.
Battery in Docking Station
• Remove the battery from the machine.
• Holding the battery by the handle, making sure the
terminal contacts are on the right side, slide the
battery into the battery docking station.
• Plug the charger into an appropriate 110-120VAC,
60hz outlet.
• Insert the charging plug into the charging port on
the back right of the docking station.
• The red light on the charger will flash when
charging is complete.
Machine Operation
The handle should be moved to a comfortable
position to operate this machine. With your foot
depress the locking device at the back left of the
machine to release the handle. Turn the machine
on using the toggle switch located on the top right of
the machine.
When finished, toggle the switch to “Off” then push
the handle forward. It will automatically lock in the
upright position.

MAINTENANCE
Routine maintenance is critical to ensure proper machine operation and cleaning perfo rmance.
Perform all maintenance procedures as follows:
Daily Maintenance
• Inspect for any damage.
• The debris box must be emptied and / or replaced on a regular basis in order to provide efficient pickup.
After emptying the debris box, reinstall it back into the machine.
• If box is damaged, replace it.
Weekly Maintenance
• Clean the unit with a dry cloth, including the inside of the pan bottom.
• Remove any hair, fiber or other materials that may have built up in the pan bottom, or on the rotating brush.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Symptom Cause Solution
Sweeper Will Not Operate. Battery Discharged. Charge Battery.
Circuit Breaker Tripped. Reset Breaker. (Push Button.), Check For
Obstruction In Brush Rotation.
Sweeper Only Runs A Short Time
After Charging.
Sweeper Will Not Pick-Up Debris. Debris Unit Full. Empty Debris Unit.
Battery Needs Recharging. Recharge Battery.
Filter Is Clogged In Box. Replace Box.
Brush Is Worn Out. Replace Brush.
Unit Clogged. Remove Obstruction.
Dust Escaping From Sweeper. Debris Unit Full. Empty Debris Unit.
Sweeper Making A Loud Noise. Debris Caught In Brush. Remove Debris.
Loose Belt. Tighten or Replace Belt.
Sweeper Will Not Charge. Electrical Outlet Not Working. Check To E nsu r e O u t l et Is Wo rk i ng P r op er l y.
Charge Adaptor Not Working. Replace Charging Adapter.
Repair service for this machine must be performed by an NSS authorized service center. Repairs performed by an
unauthorized company will void the machine warranty. If you require assistance finding an authorized service
center, contact NSS Enterprises.
Battery Not Holding Charge. Replace Battery.
