MELTING THE WAX, cont'd
4. After 5 minutes, slide the locking switch to the right to unlock the lid. Open the lid and stir the melting wax with a wooden skewer or old wooden spoon. Stir the
wax in a slow circular motion. Close and lock the lid again and allow it to heat for another 5 minutes. After the second heating, the wax should be totally liquid and ready for pouring. If the wax is still not ready, stir again and allow to heat for an additional 1-3 minutes.
5. Once the wax is completely melted and ready to pour, check that the mold is still securely in position under the valve. Open the wax flow valve by turning it to the right. A thin stream of wax will pour slowly into your prepared mold. As the wax nears the top of the mold, close and open the valve just enough to fill but not overflow the mold. Fill to within 1/4" of the top of the mold. See Fig 4. Note: If there was not enough wax in the hopper to fill the mold, add more wax, repeat steps 3-5 and continue filling mold.
6. Turn the thermostat counterclockwise completely to the left (OFF position). Allow the candle to rest and cool in the mold holder for 20 minutes.
7. After 20 minutes, the mold can be lifted out of the base of the machine. Use a potholder to grasp the side of the mold as you release the springloading mechanism on the base. Try to keep the mold straight as you lift it out to prevent spills. Place filled mold on a heat resistant surface to cool. Make sure to keep filled mold out of the reach of children and pets.
Second Pouring:
After the candle cools for another thirty minutes, the center of the candle will probably appear to cave in. A second pouring of wax will fill this center cavity. Take a wooden skewer and poke a few holes down into the candle, close to the wick. Reposition the mold in the base of the machine and repeat steps 3-7 again. You will not need as much wax in the hopper this time, since you are only topping off the cavity in the candle.
Cleaning the Candle Making Machine:
To remove residual wax from hopper, place a disposable container such as an old glass jar that will fit into the springloaded mold holder on the base. Turn the machine on low to melt any wax left in the hopper. Open valve and pour wax into disposable container. After all wax is removed, turn off machine and unplug. Allow disposable container to cool before handling. DO NOT pour liquid wax down drains or garbage disposals as it will cause a blockage. Dispose of wax according to your state and local regulations.
Unmolding the Candle:
• Allow candle to cool in the mold overnight.
• Remove rubber stopper from the base of mold. Gently pull on the wick holder at the other end of the mold to loosen and slide the finished candle out. See Fig 5. If the cooled candle does not slide out of mold easily, GENTLY tap the opened end of the mold against your kitchen counter several times, using an up and down motion. This should cause mold to release the stubborn candle.
• The end of the candle that is attached to the wick holder is actually the bottom of the candle. Untie the wick holder and trim the wick close to the wax, so that the candle can sit firmly on a flat surface without wobbling.
• Trim the wick at the top of the candle to about 1/2" before burning.

• Due to the viscous nature of hot melted wax the Candle Machine may drip slightly when the valve is in the closed position while you are melting the wax in the hopper. This minor dripping will not affect the finished quality of your candle.
• Be sure to put candle mold with wicking and stopper in place on the base of the machine before you place wax in the hopper.
• When you carefully remove the filled candle mold from the base of the machine you may want to place a paper or foam cup or other container in place of the mold to catch any additional drips of wax.
• If melted wax does get on the base of your machine, allow the wax to cool and harden then gently scrape off wax drips using a blunt knife or flat toothpick.
PLEASE NOTE:
To Prevent Fire
• Keep burning candle within sight.
• Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
• Never burn a candle on or near
anything that can catch fire.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS, READ AND SAVE ALL INSTRUCTIONS.
CAUTION- Risk of Fire—Never leave unit unattended while in use.
While using appliance, stay alert and always concentrate on the melting process. SHOULD the hot wax catch fire due to malfunction of and/or faulty operation of machine, immediately turn off the candle making machine by turning thermostat knob all the way to the left (OFF) position, unplug appliance, close candle making machine lid if possible, and smother fire with baking soda. DO NOTATTEMPT TO USE WATER to extinguish flames, because water will cause this type of fire to spread.
• Keep all candle crafting supplies and candle making machine out of the reach of children and pets. Follow all instructions carefully. Keep all instruction sheets for future.
• Tie back long hair to keep hair from falling forward and into hot liquid wax.
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use. Do not attempt to melt any materials other than wax specified for candle making purposes or recycled candles with wicks removed. Do NOT use to melt chocolate or other foodstuffs, crayons, soap or depilatory wax,
Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect against electric shock, do not immerse machine, cord, or plug in water or other liquid.
• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
• Do not allow children to operate appliance and close supervision is necessary when operating appliance near children.

GETTING STARTED!
Preparing your work surface:
• Select a work area with a heat resistant, level surface near a wall outlet. A kitchen counter not too close to the sink is a good choice.
• Cover your work surface with cardboard or a few layers of old newspaper to protect it from dripping wax. Excess wax is difficult to remove once it hardens.
• Keep candle making machine safely back from the edge of the work surface.
• Do not allow power cord to dangle over the edge of the work surface. Before plugging power cord into outlet, make sure that the temperature control knob is turned all the way to the left (OFF position).
Temperature control knob:
This control knob turns the candle making machine on and off.
• Afull turn to the left turns the machine off.
• Turning the knob to the right turns the machine on. The more you turn to the right, the higher the temperature will be.

PREPARING THE MOLD
MELTING THE WAX
• Make sure your mold is clean and dry. Never use a wet or damp mold. Dry mold thoroughly!
• Polycarbonate molds will scratch easily. Do not clean with abrasive cleansers, steel wool or anything other than a soft cloth.
1. Thread one end of candle wicking through the small hole at the base of the candle mold. Bring the wicking through the large opening at other end of mold.
3. Turn the mold over and pull the wicking taut and straight up through the center of the mold. Check to see that the rubber stopper is still firmly in place. Rest the wick holder across the top of the mold, finding the small indentations along the rim of the mold designed to hold the wick holder. Tie the wicking onto the wick holder to keep it in place. Ideally, the wicking should be held as taut as possible in the center of the mold.
1. Pull the front part of the spring loading mechanism at the base of the machine forward. Angle the top of your prepared mold under the valve at the bottom of the hopper, and fit the mold securely between the brackets of the springloaded mold holder. The brackets will automatically position the mold correctly under the valve. See Fig 1.
2. Allow at least three inches of wicking to protrude from small hole in mold. Firmly press the rubber stopper into the small hole, keeping the 3" end of wicking still protruding from mold. This rubber stopper will prevent the liquid wax from escaping the mold during the candle making process.
