Guide
Overview
This document provides detailed instructions for installing the Novell
AppArmor, Powered by ImmunixTMsoftware on your SuSE Linux
Enterprise Server (SLES) 9.
System Requirements
• OS Software: SLES 9 is installed properly.
• SLES development packages and kernel-source are installed as
detailed in “Automated Installation” section.
Automated Installation
Novell AppArmor software on your SuSE Linux Enterprise Server
(SLES) 9.
The software is distributed in rpm format, which is the common packaging format for software for the SLES operating system.
There are six rpm packages that must be installed:
• libimmunix
• subdomain-docs
• subdomain-master
• subdomain-profiles
• subdomain-utils
• subdomain_parser
• mod_change_hat
By installing thissoftware you are agreeing to the terms of the Immunix
End User License Agreement defined in the file immunix-eula in the top
level directory of the CDROM.
To perform an automated installation, perform the following steps:
1. Put your Novell AppArmor CD in to the system CD-Rom drive.
2. Open a terminal window.
3. Type cd media/cdrom/
Note: If your CD-Rom drive is a CD burner, you should type cd
media/cdburner instead.
4. Type su to become root if you are not already.
5. Type ls. The following directory listing should display:
COPYING devtools immunix-eula install README rpm
shass-release TRANS.TBL
6. To install the Novell AppArmor software, type the following (you
should still be logged in as root)
./install --install
7. The installation script then runs. It will:
• display and ask you to accept or decline the Immunix Commercial
License
• inspect your running kernel, and compile a kernel module to match
your kernel
• install the rest of the Novell AppArmor infrastructure
8. Once the installation completes, you should reboot your machine.
Note: If you want to update to a new version of Novell AppArmor,
repeat steps 1-5 and type ./install --update
If you want to remove Novell AppArmor from your system, repeat
steps 1-5 and type ./install --uninstall
Installing Pre-requisite Development Packages and
Kernel-source rpms
You can install Novell AppArmor dependencies during the SLES 9
installation or post SLES 9 installation. Select one and follow the steps
below:
1. How are you installing Novell AppArmor?
• Post SLES installation: Run YaST, select the icon Install and
Remove Software, and go to Step 4 below.
• During SLES installation: From the YaST SLES Installer, follow
