• Use only the attached (original) power mains cable.
In case of questions about power supply or cable,
please ask your local NOVAdealer.

• Do not cover or damage the power mains cable.

• In case of damaged cables, do not use them at all.

• The power mains cable should be unplugged if the

unit is not used for longer time.

• Never push any objects into this product.
Dangerous (high) voltage points could result in
risk of fire or electrical shock. Do not spill any liquid
on the product.

• Do not try to service this product by yourself.
Opening or removing covers may expose you to
dangerous (high) voltage or other risks. All service
should be handeled by qualified service personnel only.

• Clean only with dry clothes.

• In case of any problems, unplug the product from the

mains supply immediately.

• Contact qualified service personnel in following cases:

• If the mains power cable or plug is damaged.

• If liquid has been spilled into the product.

• If the product has been exposed to water.

• If the product does not operate normally according

this manual.

• If the product has been dropped (damaged chassis).

• Exposure to extremely high volume levels may cause

a permanent hearing loss.

• Individuals vary considerably in susceptibility to noise
induced hearing loss, but nearly everyone will lose
some hearing if exposed to sufficiently intense noise
for a sufficient time. The U.S. Government´s
Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) has specified the following permissible
noise level exposures:

• According to OSHA, any exposure in excess of the above
permissible limits could result in some hearing loss.

• Ear plug protectors in the ear canals or over the ears
must be worn when operating this product in order to
prevent a permanent hearing loss if exposure is in excess
of the limits as set forth above. To ensure against
potentially dangerous exposure to high sound pressure
levels, it is recommended that all persons exposed to
equipment capable of producing high sound pressure
levels such as this amplification system be protected by
hearing protectors while this unit is in operation.

• Fuses: Replace with IEC 127 (5 x 20 mm) type and
rated fuse for only.

• The product has been manufactured according to IEC 60065.

• The user must follow the advice and warning comments

found in the operating instructions. The unit conforms to
Protection Class 1.

• Loudspeaker outputs can carry dangerous high voltage.
Connect of disconnect any speaker cable ONLY if the unit
is switched off and the unit is disconnected from the mains
power supply (wall socket).

• Do not interrupt the protective conductor connection.

WARNUNG:

Spannung darf nur durch eine vom Hersteller autorisierte
Fachkraft (nach VBG 4) erfolgen, die mit den damit
verbundenen Gefahren vertraut ist.

• Lautsprecher-Ausgänge führen berührungsgefährliche
Spannungen. Verbinden Sie Lautsprecherausgänge mit
Lautsprechern mittels Kabeln nur im ausgeschalteten
Gerätezustand und nur mit dem original vom Hersteller
beigelegtem bzw. empfohlenem Netzkabel.

• Es dürfen nur Sicherungen vom Typ IEC 127 und der
angegebenen Nennstromstärke verwendet werden.

• Eine Verwendung von überbrückten Sicherungen sowie
ein Kurzschließen des Sicherungshalters ist verboten.

• Unterbrechen Sie niemals die Schutzleiterverbindung.

• Hohe Lautstärkepegel können dauerhafte Gehörschäden

verursachen. Vermeiden Sie deshalb die direkte Nähe
von Lautsprechern, die mit hoher Lautstärke betrieben
werden. Verwenden Sie einen Gehörschutz bei
dauernder Einwirkung hoher Pegel. NOVA, der Hersteller
bzw. der Inverkehrbringer übernimmt keinerlei Haftung
oder Verantwortung für Hörschäden und andere
gesundheitliche Schäden durch die Verwendung, den
Transport oder die Installation dieses Produkts.

NETZANSCHLUSS:

• Die Geräte-Betriebsspannung muss mit der
örtlichen Netzspannung überein stimmen.

• Der Anschluss an das Stromnetz darf nur mit
dem mitgelieferten Netzteil oder Netzkabel erfolgen.

AUFSTELLORT:

• Das Gerät sollte nur auf einer sauberen und wackelfreien
Fläche stehen.

• Das Gerät darf während des Betriebs keinen
Erschütterungen ausgesetzt sein.

• Setzen Sie das Gerät nicht Feuchtigkeit und Staub aus.

• Das Gerät darf nicht in der Nähe von Wasser oder anderen

Flüssigkeiten bzw. Behältnissen mit Flüssigkeiten jeglicher
Art betrieben werden. Stellen Sie niemals einen mit
Flüssigkeit gefüllten Gegenstand auf oder in direkte Nähe
des Gerätes.

• Sorgen Sie für ausreichende Belüftung des Gerätes.

• Eventuelle Belüftungsöffnungen dürfen nicht abgedeckt

werden.

• Vermeiden Sie eine direkte Sonneneinstrahlung und die
unmittelbare Nähe von Heizkörpern, Heizstrahlern
o.ä. Geräte.

• Betrieben oder transportieren Sie das Gerät nie auf einem
instabilen Wagen, Ständer, Dreifuß, Untersatz oder Tisch.

Beim Transport, Lagerung, Aufstellung sowie beim Betrieb
des Gerätes müssen die Anweisungen des Herstellers befolgt
werden.

• Zusatzvorrichtungen: Verwenden Sie niemals Zusatz-
vorrichtungen, die nicht vom Hersteller empfohlen wurden.

• Lagern Sie das Gerät über längere Zeit NUR stromlos
(Netzstecker sollte gezogen werden).

For a period of one year from the date of delivery to the
original purchaser (as shown on the original invoice or
sales receipt), CRAAFT AUDIO GmbH warrants to the
ORIGINAL OWNER of each product (provided it was
purchased at an authorized NOVADealer) that it is free
of defects in materials and workmanship and that each
product will meet or exceed all factory published
specifications for each respective model. NOVAagrees
to repair or replace (at its discretion) all defective parts
at no charge for labor or materials; subject to following
provisions:

NOVAshall take no responsibility for repair or replacement
as specified under this warranty, if the damaged product
has been subject to misuse, accident, neglect or failure
to comply with normal maintenance procedures; or if the
serial number has been defaced, altered or removed.
Nor will NOVAaccept responsibility for, or resulting from,
improper alterations or unauthorized parts or repairs.
This warranty does not cover any damage to speakers or
any other consequential damage resulting from breach of
any written or implied warranty. NOVA will remedy any
defect, regardless of the reason for failure (except as
excluded) by repair, or replacement. NOVA will remedy
the defect and ship the product within a reasonable
time after receipt of the defective product at an authorized
NOVAService Center. In the case that an NOVA product
requires service, the owner must contact NOVAor an
authorized NOVAService Center to receive an R.A.N.
(Return Authorization Number) and instructions on how
to return the product to the authorized NOVAService
Center, or to the factory. NOVA(or its Authorized Service
Center) will initiate corrective repairs upon receipt of the
returned product. Please save original carton and all the
packing materials in case shipping is required. All
products being returned to the factory or service center
for repairs must be shipped pre-paid.

If the repairs made by NOVAor the authorized NOVA
Service Center are not satisfactory, the owner is
instructed to give written notice to NOVA. If the defect
or malfunction remains after a reasonable amount of
attempts by NOVAto remedy the defect or malfunction,
the owner shall then have the option to elect either a
refund or replacement of said NOVAproduct free of
charge. The refund shall be an amount equal to but
not greater than the actual purchase price, not including
any taxes, interest, insurance, closing costs and other
finance charges (minus reasonable depreciation on the
product). If a refund is necessary, the owner must make
the defective or malfunctioning product available to
NOVAfree and clear of all liens or other restrictions.
NOVAreserves the right to modify or change equipment
(in whole or part) at any time prior to delivery thereof, in
order to include therein electrical or mechanical
improvements deemed appropriate by NOVA; but without
incurring any liability to modify or change any equipment
previously delivered, or to supply new equipment in
accordance with any earlier specifications.

DISCLAIMER OF CONSEQUENTIAL AND INCIDENTAL
DAMAGES YOU, THE OWNER, IS NOT ENTITLED TO
RECOVER FROM NOVAANY INCIDENTAL DAMAGES
RESULTING FROMANY DEFECT IN THE NOVA
PRODUCT.THIS INCLUDES ANY DAMAGE TO
ANOTHER PRODUCT OR PRODUCTS RESULTING
FROM SUCH A DEFECT.

No person has the authority to enlarge, amend, or modify
this warranty rules. This warranty is not extended by the
length of time which the owner is deprived of the use of
product. Repairs and replacement parts provided
pursuant to the warranty shall carry only the non-expired
portion of the warranty.

THIS STATEMENT OF WARRANTY SUPERSEDESALL
OTHERS CONTAINED IN THIS MANUAL.

Material als auch in der Ausführung der Herstellung
in einwandfreiem Zustand ist. Der CRAAFT AUDIO
GmbH steht es frei zu entscheiden, unter Vorbehalt
kostenlos alle fehlerhaften Teile zu reparieren oder
zu ersetzen. Es wird keinerlei Haftung für Reparatur
oder Ersatz des Produkts übernommen, wenn
Schäden durch Installationsfehler oder
unsachgemäßen Gebrauch des Gerätes entstanden
sind, die Seriennummer beschädigt wurde oder
versucht wurde, diese zu ändern oder zu entfernen.
Die CRAAFT AUDIO GmbH übernimmt ebenfalls
keine Haftung für Schäden, die bei unsachgemäßen
Reparaturen und/oder Eingriffen entstanden sind.
Diese Gewährleistung deckt ebenfalls keine Schäden
an Lautsprechern oder Folgeschäden an jeglicher
angeschlossenen Peripherie, Personenschäden
oder anderen Primär- und Sekundärschäden ab,
die durch eine Nichteinhaltung der geschriebenen
bzw. stillschweigenden Gewährleistungsregelungen
entstanden sind. Falls ein NOVAProdukt Service
benötigt, sollte der Eigentümer des Gerätes ein
autorisiertes NOVAService-Center kontaktieren.
Egal aus welchem Grunde, deckt eine Gewähr­leistung die Instandsetzung oder den Austausch,
jedoch keinesfalls Schadensersatzansprüche in
irgendeiner Art auch nicht wegen Ausfallhonorar
oder anderem ab. Als Eigentümer und/oder
Anwender sind Sie nicht berechtigt, von der
CRAAFT AUDIO GmbH Schadensersatz zu
fordern, wenn Nebenschäden durch ein Produkt
aus dem Hause der CRAAFT AUDIO GmbH
entstehen. Dies schließt Folge- und/oder Neben­schäden an anderen Produkten ein.
Die Gewährleistung darf nicht geändert werden
und wird nicht um einen Zeitraum erweitert, in
dem der Eigentümer oder Anwender das Produkt
nicht nutzen kann. Lediglich vom nicht abgelaufenen
Teil der Gewährleistungszeit betroffen sind Reparaturen
und Ersatzteile, die im Rahmen der Gewährleistungs­bestimmungen ausgeführt oder getauscht wurden.

The UNION Series consists of two active
and two passive 12" and 15" 2-way
speakers. The multifunctional cabinets
allow the application on a speaker tripod
and theuse as aprofessional stage monitor.
The robust front grilles are attached with
strong magnetsand can beremoved without
tools for easy access. The horns can be
removed and rotated by hand screwseasily.
Due to the use of high-performance
speakers andHF drivers with2,5" voicecoil,
UNION speakers deliver high sound
pressure for excellent dynamics. The active
models U12Aand U15Aare equipped with a
3-channel 32-bit DSP, which provides a
memory for six sound and delay programs.
These can be selected on the rear panel.
The programs can be edited and stored by
using the UNION PC remote software (via
USB interface). The highly efficient class-D
amplifiers deliver 1.100 watts RMS ofpower
(8 ohms). The 800 watts amplifier powers
the 12" /15" woofer.The 300 watts amplifier
powersthe highdriver.

UNION offers signal processing at the
highest level. The fast 32-bit DSP is

equipped with 3 channels, which are
allocated on a fixed routing the amplifiers
and the AUX output. The Burr Brown© A/D
converter works with a resolution of 96 kHz
for highest sound quality. The digital signal
flow starts at the master section. The signal
is routed to the DSP channels for the high
driver and the woofer. The sections of the
frequency crossovers, limiters and EQs are
working automatically. The third DSP
channel is routed to the AUX output
connector (XLR). The DSP offers memory
for 6 sound and delay programs, which
include allsettings and functions. These can
be loaded by a selector switch on the rear
panel. Programs 1, 2 and 3 are factory
presets (Flat, Loudness, and Monitoring).
Programs 4, 5 and 6 are user programs.
Both, themaster sectionand theAUX output
can be configured as desired. The USB
interface is designed according to the plug­and-playprinciple.

The UNION speakers deliver extremely
high sound pressure levels - designed
for professionals without any
compromise.

mit 2,5" Schwingspulen liefern die UNION
Lautsprecher sehr hohen Schalldruck für
enorme Dynamik.Die aktivenModelle U12A
und U15A sind dazu mit einem 3-Kanal 32­Bit DSP ausgestattet, welcher Platz für
sechs Sound- und Delayprogramme bietet.
Diese können direkt am Anschlussfeld
geladen werden. Mittels Remote-Software
und USB-Interface können die Programme
am PC editiert und gespeichertwerden. Die
hocheffizienten Class-D Verstärker der
aktiven Modelle liefern 1.100 Watt RMS
Leistung (8 Ohm). Dabei stehen 800 Watt
Leistung für den 12" bzw. 15" Lautsprecher
und 300 WattLeistung fürden Hochtönerzur
Verfügung.

UNION bietet Signalverarbeitung auf
höchstem Niveau.Der schnelle32-Bit DSP

verfügt über 3 Kanäle, welche über das
interne Routing den Verstärkern und dem
AUX Ausgang zugewiesen sind. Der
hochauflösende Burr Brown© A/D-Wandler
arbeitet mit einer Auslösung von 96 kHz für
höchste Klangqualität. Die Mastersektion
befindet sich vor der Signalaufteilung. Nach
der Aufteilung zu den beiden Endstufen­kanälen erfolgen die Einstellungen der
Frequenzweichenfunktionen, Limitern und
EQs für die internen Verstärker auto­matisch. Der dritte DSP-Kanal steht über
eine AUX-Ausgangsbuchse (XLR) zur
Verfügung. Der DSP bietet Platz für 6
Sound- und Delayprogramme, welche alle
Einstellungen und Funktionen beinhalten.
Diese können mittels eines Wahlschalters
an der Geräterückseite ausgewählt und
geladen werden. Die Programme1, 2 und 3
sind Werkpresets (Linear, Loudness und
Monitoring). Die Programme 4,5 und 6 sind
für User-Programme freigegeben. Sowohl
die Mastersektion als auch der AUX­Ausgang kann frei konfiguriert werden. Die

The U12A is a two-way high performance multipurpose
loudspeaker in a multifunctional chassis for fixed
installations, mobile use or Stage monitoring. The
cabinet is equipped with a 1,4" HF driver (PM4
diaphragm). The nominal coverage is 60° x 40°
(H x V). The MF/LF frequency range is covered by a
12" neodym speaker. The integrated flying system
includes five ANCRA(comp.) tracks and enables the
use of NFS 2 or NFS 3 eyelets for installation. Five
additional rigging points and two fixing points for the
optional U-brackets are included, too. The integrated
flange adapter (tube diameter 35 mm) enables the
use of the U12A on a speaker stand. The flexible
U12A suits for speech and music applications as
stage monitor, stand-alone fullrange system or
MF/HF speaker in sound reinforcement systems.

auf ein drehbares Horn montiert ist. Das Abstrahl­verhalten beträgt 60° x 40° (H x V). Der MF/LF
Bereich wird über einen leistungsstarken 12" Laut­sprecher abgedeckt. Das integrierte Flugsystem,

ermöglicht den schnellen Zugriff auf das Hochton­horn und ist mit hinterlegtem Akustikschaumstoff

Stellen Sie vor Inbetriebnahme Ihres UNION Series
Lautsprechers sicher, dass die Netzspannung mit
der auf dem Bedienfeld des aktiven Lautsprechers
übereinstimmt (Toleranz +/- 10% zulässig). Schalten
Sie Ihren UNION Series Lautsprecher erst ein, wenn
Sie das Stromkabel mit dem Stromnetz und dem
Lautsprecher verbunden haben. Trennen das Strom­kabel erst wieder, wenn Sie den Lautsprecher vorher
ausgeschaltet haben. Alle weiterenAnschlusskabel
aller Eingänge und Ausgänge sollten nur bei
ausgeschaltetem System ein- oder ausgesteckt

und dem AUXAusgang zugewiesen sind. Der hoch­auflösende Burr Brown© A/D-Wandler arbeitet mit
einer Auslösung von 96 kHz für höchste Klang­qualität. Die Mastersektion befindet sich vor der
Signalaufteilung. Hier können folgende Funktionen
justiert werden:

Mute-Schaltung, Eingangsempfindlichkeit,
Polaritätswandler, Delay (bis zu 999 ms),
6 parametrische Equalizer, Frequenzweichen­funktion (konfigurierbar), Noise Gate

Nach der Aufteilung zu den beiden Endstufen­kanälen erfolgen die Einstellungen der Frequenz­weichen-funktionen, Limitern und EQs für die
internen Verstärker automatisch. Der dritte DSP­Kanal steht über eine AUX-Ausgangsbuchse (XLR)
zur Verfügung. ImAUX-Ausgang stehen folgende
Features zusätzlich zur Verfügung:

Polaritätswandler, Delay (bis zu 999 ms),
6 Equalizer (Parametrisch, Lo- und Hi-Shelf),

Der DSP bietet Platz für 6 Sound- und Delay­programme, welche alle Einstellungen und
Funktionen beinhalten. Diese können mittels eines
Wahlschalters an der Geräterückseite ausgewählt
und geladen werden. Die Programme 1, 2 und 3
sind Werkpresets (Linear, Loudness und Monitoring).
Die Programme 4, 5 und 6 sind für User-Programme
freigegeben. Sowohl die Mastersektion als auch der
AUX-Ausgang kann frei konfiguriert werden. Die
USB-Schnittstelle ist nach dem Plug-and-Play
Prinzip konstruiert.

5. DSP (4-Ch. Digital Signal Processor)

5.1. Description and
Features

UNION offers signal processing at the highest level.
The fast 32-bit DSP is equipped with 3 channels,
which are allocated on a fixed routing the amplifiers
and the AUX output. The Burr Brown©A/D converter
works with a resolution of 96 kHz for highest sound
quality. The digital signal flow starts at the master
section. Following functions can be adjusted at the
master section (pre-routing):

Mute, Input Sensitivity, Polarity Converter,
Delay (up to 999 ms), 6 parametric Equalizers,
Crossover Function (configurable), Noise Gate

The signal is routed to the DSP channels for the
high driver and the woofer. The sections of the
frequency crossovers, limiters and EQs are working
automatically. The third DSP channel is routed to the
AUX output connector (XLR). Following functions
can be adjusted (post-routing):

Polarity Converter, Delay (up to 999 ms),
6 Equalizers (parametric, lo-shelf and hi-shelf),
Crossover Function (configurable), Mute

The DSP offers memory for 6 sound and delay
programs, which include all settings and functions.
These can be loaded by a selector switch on the
rear panel. Programs 1, 2 and 3 are factory presets
(Flat, Loudness, and Monitoring). Programs 4, 5
and 6 are user programs. Both, the master section
and the AUX output can be configured as desired.
The USB interface is designed according to the
plug-and-play principle.

The operating system of your PC will install the

Select the program (1-6) with the rotary switch
(selector) which should be transmitted into the
PC program.

grafische Anzeige aller Filter. Alle Funktionen und
Einstellungen können mit der Steuersoftware
geladen, editiert und gespeichert werden. Die
Software ist lauffähig auf WINDOWS 98©,
WINDOWS 2000©, WINDOWS XP©, WINDOWS
VISTA© sowie auch WINDOWS 7© und
WINDOWS 8© (alle 32-Bit und 64-Bit Versionen).

7.3. Installation & Start

Nach dem Download entpacken Sie den gezippten
Ordner mit einem Doppelklick auf die Datei und
speichern Sie den Ordner auf Ihrem PC.

Starten Sie nun die Software mit einem

7.3. Installation & Start

After downloading the UNION PC software, unzip
the file by double click and store the unzipped
folder at your PC.

Double click onto the NOVAUNION.exe file
to start the software.

An installation procedure is not neccessary. The
software will run immediately.

The home screen should be shown at your PC.

7.4. USB Connection

(from Device to PC)

The UNION system is delivered with a USB cable.
Use this cable to connect the UNION system with
the USB connector at your PC.

Switch on the UNION system.
The operating system of your PC will install the
USB driver for the UNION system automatically.

The USB LED indicator will shine green, if the
USB cable is connected to the PC correctly.

7.5. Load Program

Select the program (1-6) with the rotary switch
(selector) which should be transmitted into the
PC program.

7.6. Connecting to Device

Click onto first.[UnConnect]

A new window will open. Click onto and wait[OK]
for approx. 6 seconds.

The new windows will show the confirmation
„ “. Click onto .Connection Successful [OK]

The virtual LED in the program will shine green.

This confirms that the software is online and
connected to the UNION system now.

7.4. USB Verbindung

(vom Gerät zum PC)

Das sich im Lieferumfang des UNION Systems
befindliche USB Kabel dient zur Verbindung
zwischen der USB Buchse des UNION Systems
und der USB Buchse des PCs.

Schalten Sie das UNION System ein.
Das PC Betriebssystem installiert den USB

7.5. Programm Laden

and can be edited.[Limit]

Note, that the AUX channel is routed post-master.

7.12.1. AUX Polarity

[POL+] shows, that the polarity of the AUX channel

is positive (0°). Press onto this button and polarity
will change 180° to negative . Usually the[POL-]
polarity switch should be used positive .[POL+]

7.12.2. AUX Gain

Click onto at the AUX section.[GAIN]
A new windows will open.Adjust the AUX
gain in a range between -40dB and +12dB.
