1. Do not use outdoors, FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
2. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce
the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one
way. If the plug does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to
modify the plug in any way.
3. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs or unit in water.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
5. Unplug from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and
before cleaning.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or if the appliance has
been dam ag ed in any ma nner. Retur n the app lia nce to the plac e of purc h as e or
send back to company for repair or replacement as stated in this booklet in the

10. Keep hands and utensils out of container while blending to reduce the risk of severe
injury to persons or damage to the RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™.
11. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
12. Before plugging your unit into the main electrical supply, make sure the voltage
corresponds to that indicated on the maker’s nameplate.
13. Extreme caution must be used when moving this appliance with liquids.
14. Always operate the RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™ with cover in place.
15. A unit that is plugged into an ou tlet should not be left unattended.

INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™. This machine will give you a refreshing drink on a hot day and provide a fun addition to your family party or group gathering. The RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™ uses crushed ice or small ice cubes from your freezer. This machine is designed for kitchen or home bar use but can be used anywhere such as:

Your RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™ has a generous one quart (32 ounce) clear mixing chamber and is ideal for small groups.
Not e: The clea r mixing ch amber will actuall y hold more liquid b ut has been marked to allow for proper volume. Exceeding the amount will result in spillage.
The RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™ is easy to use, just follow the step by step instruct io ns , on th e following pages.
PRE USE PREPARATION AND ASSEMBLY
It is recommended that after unpacking your RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™, you take the unit apart and clean all parts, to remove any production oils and packing debris.

1. Remove the upper slush mixing chamber from the bottom motor base by lifting up and set aside. (Figure A)

2. Locate the locking tab on top of the slush mixing chamber lid (at the back and directly opposite the white Nostalgia Logo.) (Figure B)
Pinch the tab together while lifting up on the lid, carefully unhinging the front of the lid (at the white Nostalgia Logo) as you gently lift up. (Figure C)

3. Lift the aluminum ice cylinder and mixing mechanism/cylinder cage out of the clear mixing chamber. (Figure D)

4. Separate the mixing mechanism from the cylinder cage by carefully lifting an d unsn a pping the thr ee locking tabs triangularly located at the top of the cylinder cage. (Figure E)

5. Prepare for your first use by thoroughly washing the clear mixing chamber, aluminum ice cylinder, mixing mechanism and cylinder cage, in wa rm sudsy water. Rinse the parts well, and thoroughly dry. DO NOT put the motor base in water.
6. To clean the motor base and lid when needed, use a clean non-abrasive damp cloth to wipe the exterior, and then dry off with a clean, non-abrasive towel. (See Parts Breakdown below).
7. Reassemble your RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE, make sure that you have securely latched the mixing mechanism to the cylinder cage and that the gear top is inserted into the mixing chamber lid. Confirm that you have also latched the lid securely to the clear mixing chamber .

outlet. Position the removable drip tray directly below the spigot.
9. Now, you are ready to enjoy fresh frozen slush drinks.

USING YOUR RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™
A. Remove the top lid to the slush mixing chamber by pinching the lock tab together while lifting up on the lid and carefully unhinging the front. (Figure F)

making process. (Do not turn the unit OFF during use as the ice cylinder may freeze).
D. Fill the aluminum ice cylinder with small or broken pieces of ice through
opening labeled ICE AND SALT, to within 1 inch from the cylinder top. (Figure G). Ensure that the spigot is in the closed position to avoid spillage.

F. Allow the mixture to mix for up to 25 minutes until you reach the desired slush consistency.

If lid should pop off while machine is mixing, turn on/off switch to OFF, use sp oo n or sp atula to scrape any ic e tha t may build up on outsid e of cy li nd er , a nd replace lid. (This will happen to keep gears from stripping). Turn on/off switch back to FREEZE and continue mixing.

NOTE: You can continually add ice to the

SUGGESTIONS AND RECIPES
Your RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™ will give you many opportunities to experiment and be creative with a variety of liquids.
Suggested Fruit Drinks:
Lemonade, Orange Juice, Fruit Punch, Apple Juice, Mixed Berry Fruit Drink
Sodas:
Cola, Lemon/Lime soda, Grape Soda – any soda with a high sugar content
Do not use diet soda or drinks with sugar substitute as they will not freeze!
Gourmet Syrups: Lime, Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape
Recipe: 1 1/2 Cups (12 Ounces) of syrup 6 Cups (48 Ounces) of water
MARGARITAS & DAIQUIRIS

*Alcohol does not freeze, this is why you will need to add afterwards.

HELPFUL TIPS
Drin ks with a high sugar or corn syrup base will crystallize faster and produce a
thicker slush than those with milk or lower sugar content. Carbonated drinks will set up slower and will not be as thick.
We recommend adding pre-chilled liquid to your RETRO VERT ICAL SLUSH
MACHINE™: this will quicken the slush making process.
A towel placed under your RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™, will help with
clean-up. You should expect some dripping.
Carbonat ed di et dr i nk s wil l not slush.  Do not use stiff mixtures such as whipped cream or frozen liquids.  Do not operate the unit longer than required. If after 40 minutes the mixture is not yet
achieved the slushie consistency or has thawed again, do not continue. Possible reasons for mi xture not chilling/freezing:
1. The ice canister was not cold enough, more ice and salt should have been added
2. The mixture was too warm
3. Alcohol was added to the mixture too early
DO NOT store slushies in freezer or fridge. They should be consumed immediately. REMINDER: 32 ounces of liquid does not

CLEANING
1. Make sure the unit is unplugged before cleaning.
2. Carefully disassemble your RETRO VERTICAL SLUSH MACHINE™.
The following parts can be submerged in warm sudsy water:

Clear mixing Chamber

3. The Motor unit should be wiped clean with a damp cloth or sponge and dried with a
soft towel.
