Grinders will accommodate.
It is sometimes desirable to employ very wide wheels or multiple
wheels widely spaced for plunge cut operations on work
the capacity of 10" or light type 14" grinders as far as diameters
and weights of work are concerned. It is also essential on such work
as the grinding of automotive crankshaft bearings that wheels of
large diameter be used in order to permit a reasonable amount of
wheel wear
For these jobs a heavier wheel slide with larger spindle and
bearings and heavier wheel slide base having ample bearing
ways is required. These new 10" Type CTU-HD and 14"
Type LCTU-HD Grinders provide this additional wheel
capacity in addition to the many time-tested features of the
standard Type CTU Grinders.

SIMPLIFIED OPERATION
All controls for feeds and speeds are set from the front of the ma
chine. This
wheel feed handwheel and a “
simplifies
both set-up and operation. A combination graduated
click-count
” indexing mechanism readily indi
cates the amount of feed as the handwheel is rotated past a fixed pointer, and
permits settings for .0001" in work diameter reduction instantly without
visual attention. Separate dwell controls for each end of table reversal, and
work jogging control, are also provided.
Additional advantages are automatic or manual control of work rotation
and coolant flow, and automatic adjustable wheel feed at table reversals with
automatic resetting of the wheel head. A pre-set table truing and grinding
speed arrangement permits independent adjustment of these speeds. After
speed settings are made, either speed is immediately obtained thereafter by
movement of a combination selector and table start-stop lever. Continual
resetting is avoided.
SIMPLIFIED MAINTENANCE
To simplify
locations on the outside of the machine. Filters, relief valves, ways lubricant
flow control valves, and the ways lubricant reservoir are also placed outside.
Electrical controls are grouped in an elevated enclosure for protection and
to afford maximum convenience in inspection. The coolant tank has a
ramped outlet for facilitating clean out, and a hinged wheel guard cover
simplifies wheel change. The base ways are protected by space-saving steel
tape-type guards.

SEMIAUTOMATIC MACHINE
The Semiautomatic Machine provides all of these advantages that sim

grinding cycle operating under “
electrically timed cycle, the operator merely loads the machine, touches a
control lever, and the machine goes through its cycle automatically. This
reduces manual effort to the extent that it may permit the operator to attend
more than one machine.
