The AUTOMATIC GRINDING CYCLE makes possible a sustained high
production by functioning with consistent rapidity hour after hour, and by
eliminating need for operator attention. The cycle includes a rapid advance of the grinding wheel, a momentary cushioning, the actual grinding feed, dwell
for size and finish, and rapid wheel withdrawal
on the part of the operator.
AUTOMATIC RAPID ADVANCE AND WITHDRAWAL of the grind
ing wheel occurs smoothly by the action of a large piston moving in a hydraulic cylinder. In this rapid movement, the piston moves the feed the full-nut, and the wheel slide, as an integral unit with no relative motion
