Right front view showing Center Drive Arrangement for Grinding Rotor Shafts.
Features
This machine is adaptable to many multiple wheel grinding operations, having independently controlled right-hand and left-hand wheel units. When the machine is set up with a single wheel, or two closely spaced narrow wheels, each wheel unit is our standard 10" Type C arrangement. When set up with two widely spaced wheels, such as for bearings on camshafts, each unit has an extended spindle which carries the larger outer spindle bearing inside the wide wheel sleeve.
This arrangement prevents excessive wear on the front bearing.
The footstock when opened, automatically retracts the wheels and stops footstock center leaves the work hole. This safety feature prevents removing of footstock center
from work accidentally during the grinding operation.
Wheel Slide Units are adjustable laterally to suit work by means of a large handwheel at each end of the machine and are clamped into position by a heavy gib. An auxiliary wheel feed is also provided at each end of the machine for the respective wheels. This arrangement is independent of the push buttoii wheel feed control at the front of the machine and is provided to take care of large
adjustments of feed. The push button control of the wheel feed at the front is for small increments.

All ways are lubricated by one shot oil system. The respective ways of base right-hand and left- hand wheels units, have independent hand-operated oil pumps permitting selective amounts of oil to be applied to each unit as operating conditions require.
