Exposure Control

Auto & five Vari-Program modes

When set to Auto mode, the F55 makes
Nikon-quality SLR picture taking simple,
leaving you to concentrate on composi­tion. Release the shutter button — the
F55 handles the rest.
Take advantage of the Vari-Program
modes tailored to specific scenes and
subjects. Portrait, Landscape, Close-Up,
Sports Continuous and Night Portrait
modes make versatile shooting easy.

P, S, A, M modes

Auto-Multi Program (P), Shutter-Priority
Auto (S), Aperture-Priority Auto (A), and
Manual (M) modes deliver precise
exposure control allowing you to take
your creativity further.

Exposure compensation

Use exposure compensation and Auto
Exposure Bracketing when shooting under

complicated lighting conditions
and experiment with various
exposure settings.

Multiple exposure

This feature lets you take as many images
as you like on the same frame. Great for
exciting and graphic compositions.

Built-in

Speedlight

Intelligent Speedlight

When set in Auto and certain
Vari-Program modes, the F55’s built-in
Speedlight automatically pops up to fire
in low light or when the subject is backlit.

Note: Operation is disabled in Sports Continuous and
Landscape modes.

Versatile flash modes

In addition to Auto Flash, you can use
Slow Sync. — which uses a slower
shutter speed — to bring out background
details in low light. Red-Eye Reduction
minimises the appearance of red-eye in
portraits of people and animals.

Other Convenient Features

Dioptre adjustment

Adjust the viewfinder to match your
eyesight correction.

Self-timer

Delays shutter firing for 10 seconds so
you can put yourself in the picture.

Command Dial operation

Just turn the dial for smooth, fast and
easy camera setting selection.

LCD panel

Large, clear LCD panel gives camera
setting information at a glance.

Pre-wind film loading

With this feature you don’t have to wait
for the film to rewind. After the last shot,
the film is already back in the cassette.
This also preserves shots you’ve already
taken if the camera back is accidentally
opened.
