A guide for men about using a
Continence Neurotrac machine
What is a Continence Neurotrac machine?
A continence neurotrac machine delivers neuro-muscular stimulation to treat muscle and nerve related
conditions of the pelvic floor.
This is achieved by delivering electrical impulses to your muscles.
What are the benefits, risks and alternatives for treatment?
Neuro-muscular stimulation helps to improve your pelvic floor muscles.
You may not be suitable for this form of treatment if you have an electronic implant near the area or wear
a pacemaker.
If you feel you need an alternative form of treatment, please discuss it with your physiotherapist.
What will stimulation feel like?
You will feel a gentle tingling depending on the intensity.
It should not be painful.
How to use the device
Preparation is required before the treatment. Below is a step by step guide to help you use your home
unit.
Connect the lead to the machine by inserting it in either the left or right port on the machine head.
Insert the black and red end of the lead to your probe.
Now insert your anal probe making sure the widest part with metal plates faces your hips. Please
note that this is a single patient device.
Switch on the machine by pressing the on/off button.
Now press the (+) button on the same side as the inserted lead gently until you feel a sensation.
Continue to increase the intensity until a desired contraction of your muscles can be felt.
You may feel the need to increase or decrease the intensity of the power
delivered: Press the (+) or (-) to achieve this while a contraction is ongoing.
You should contract your pelvic floor muscle along with the machine if
you are able to do this.
