III. WARNINGS

1. Before using this product, read, understand, and comply with all
labels, warnings, instructions, and other literature accompany­ing the product, including but not limited to, this manual and the MSDS in this manual (also available as P/N 90013 Rev B 3/06). Failure to comply with all warnings and instructions could cause serious injury.
2. Only use the product in strict compliance with the manufacturer’s
specifications and instructions. Not using this product in accor­dance with the manufacturer’s specifications and instructions may result in serious injury or death.
3. Be thoroughly familiar with this product, the manufacturer’s in-
structions and warnings, and associated equipment before using this product.
4. Inspect this product and associated equipment for damage or
defects before using. Do not use this product if this product or associated equipment is damaged or defective or if the M8 Detec­tion Paper is wet.
5. Keep all bystanders away from this product during use or testing.
6. Do not remove, alter, or cover any label, instruction, or warning.
7. Wear eye protection (such as government-approved chemical
safety goggles) in accordance with OSHA standards when ex­posed to chemical vapors. If contact lenses are worn, they should be worn in strict compliance with applicable NIOSH, OSHA, and ACOEM standards.
8. Wear chemical-impervious clothing and safety gloves in accor-
dance with OSHA standards and good practice when using M8 Detection Paper. Recommended for use are chemical-resistant gloves that meet all federal, state, and local statutes and regula­tions for the contaminant. Do not get unknown chemicals in eyes, on skin, or on clothes.
9. Gloves and other required and recommended personal protec-
tive equipment should be adequate for protecting for the period necessary to test and perform other related activities, including if necessary, decontamination.

10. Do not rub paper on skin. If paper comes in contact with skin,
immediately wash exposed area with soap and water.
11. Do not place paper in eyes. If paper comes in contact with eyes,
flush immediately with clean water, including under eyelids for at least 15 minutes.
12. Do not eat, drink, take internally, or consume paper. Consuming
paper may result in serious injury, sickness, or death.
13. Do not heat or expose paper to open flame. If burned, paper may
emit dangerous toxic fumes. Do not breathe smoke from burning paper as it may result in serious injury, sickness, or death.
14. Use the M8 Detection Paper before the expiration date. Do not
use the paper on or after the expiration date or if the product is damaged or if the paper has been previously exposed to chemical warfare agents. Use of the M8 Detection Paper after the expiration date may cause false negatives, false low readings, false posi­tives, or erroneous readings resulting in serious injury or death.
15. Be careful not to touch the suspected chemical warfare agent or
splash the suspected chemical warfare agent on others.
16. After using paper, wash face, hands, and any areas exposed to
chemicals or chemical vapors thoroughly with soap and water before eating, drinking, smoking, applying cosmetics, inserting or removing contact lenses, or touching eyes or mucous mem­branes.
17. This product is only for sale to, only for use by, and only for stor-
age by trained and qualified professional industrial or commercial users.
18. Do not dispose of expired or used paper in domestic or residential
waste. M8 Detection Paper must be disposed of properly be­cause it contains irritating, harmful, and toxic chemicals. Dispose of M8 Detection Paper in strict accordance with federal, state, and local statutes, ordinances, and regulations.
19. M8 Detection Paper is primarily composed of chemicals. Keep
M8 Detection Paper and associated materials out of the reach of children.

20. Do not distribute M8 Detection Paper without a complete set of
Nextteq instructions, warnings, and specifications. Distributing M8 Detection Paper without a complete set of warnings, instruc­tions, and specifications may result in misuse and lead to serious injury or death.
21. This product(s) is designed for use in ambient atmospheres of
-26°F to 120°F (-32°C to 49°C).
22. Do not store in direct sunlight. Store in a safe, secure, dark,
dry, well-ventilated, cool space. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may fade color comparison card or damage the chemical reagents.
23. Ship or transport this product in accordance with all federal, state
and local laws and regulations, including federal DOT, OSHA, and FAA regulations.
24. Keep this manual and all Nextteq instructions and warnings avail-
able for reference and training.

expected to be a route of exposure. If paper comes into contact with eyes, flush immediately with clean water, including under eyelids for not less than 15 minutes. Skin: Repeated or prolonged skin contact may cause dermatitis. In case of contact with skin, immediately wash exposed area with soap and water. Inhalation: This product is not considered an inhalation hazard be­cause it is not a powder or dust. Ingestion: No specific information is available on ingestion of this material. Part 18 - LIMITATION OF DAMAGES
THE PARTIES HERETO AGREE THAT BUYER’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE DAMAGES FOR SELLER’S BREACH SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE PRICE OF THE GOODS SOLD AND THAT ALL OTHER DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, AND STATUTORY DAMAGES ARE EXCLUDED. THE PARTIES FURTHER AGREE THAT THIS LIMITATION OF DAMAGES PROVISION IS INDEPENDENT OF THE LIMITATION OF REMEDIES PROVISION AND WILL BE ENFORCEABLE EVEN IF A REMEDY FAILS ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.
Part 19 - LIMITATION OF REMEDIES
THE PARTIES HERETO AGREE THAT BUYER’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AGAINST THE SELLER SHALL BE, AT SELLER’S OPTION, (1) REPAIR OF THE DEFECTIVE GOODS (2) REPLACEMENT OF THE DE­FECTIVE GOODS OR (3) REPAYMENT OF THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE DEFECTIVE GOODS. IF SELLER IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY SE­LECTED REMEDY, SELLER MAY ELECT TO PROVIDE BUYER WITH ANY REMAINING EXCLUSIVE REMEDY UNTIL ALL EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES HAVE BEEN EXHAUSTED. THE NUMBER OF REMEDIES PROVIDED AND THE ORDER IN WHICH THE REMEDIES ARE PROVIDED SHALL BE DETERMINED SOLELY BY THE SELLER. THIS EXCLUSIVE REMEDY IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO THE BUYER IF BUYER RETURNS THE DEFEC­TIVE GOODS TO SELLER FOR INSPECTION AND SELLER’S INSPEC­TION DETERMINES A DEFECT EXISTS AND THAT THE DEFECT WAS NOT CAUSED IN WHOLE OR IN PART BY THE BUYER OR BY ANYONE’S USE, OPERATION, STORAGE, MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, HANDLING, OR TRANSPORTATION OF THE DEFECTIVE GOODS WHICH WAS IN­CONSISTENT WITH SELLER’S OR THE MANUFACTURER’S SPECIFICA­TIONS, INSTRUCTIONS, OR WARNINGS.

V. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

A. Recommended Usage
Nextteq recommends the following in regards to use of M8 Detection Paper:
A. M8 Detection Paper does not detect gases or vapors. M8 Detec- tion Paper
detects liquid chemical warfare agents.
B. Do not attach
M8 Detection Paper to hot, oily, or greasy surfaces.
Hot, oily, or greasy surfaces may cause a false positive.
C. This product is intended for the rapid qualitative identification of
the presence or absence of G and V Nerve Agents and H Blister Agents.
D. Confirmation of the presence or absence of chemical warfare agent should be conducted using additional means of identifica- tion.
B. Required Steps before Usage
1. Before using this product, read, understand, and comply with all
labels, warnings, instructions, and other literature accompanying the product, including but not limited to, this manual.
Keep this manual for reference and training.
2. Be thoroughly familiar with this product, the manufacturer’s in-
structions and warnings, and associated equipment before using this product.
3. Inspect this product and associated equipment for damage or
defects before using. Do not proceed in using this product if this product or associated equipment is damaged or defective.
4. Keep all bystanders away from this product during use.
5. Before using or attempting to use this product, users should
wear the following:
A. Government-approved chemical-resistant safety gloves in accordance with OSHA standards and good practice.
B. Respiratory protection in accordance with

C. Eye protection in accordance with OSHA standards and
good practice. Contact lenses should be worn in strict compliance with applicable NIOSH, OSHA, and ACOEM standards.
D. Chemical resistant clothing in accordance with OSHA stan-
dards and good practice.
6. This product(s) is designed for use in ambient atmospheres of
-26°F to 120°F (-32°C to 49°C).
7. Ensure that M8 Detection Paper is not wet and its original unre-
acted tan color.
C. Usage Instructions
1. Tear off one sheet of
2. Use tweezers or similar tool to grasp the
M8 Detection Paper along perforated edge.

3. Carefully and slowly, avoiding splashing, blot a small portion of
the M8 Detection Paper onto the unknown liquid until it absorbs a sample of the liquid.
4. Carefully remove the test paper from the unknown liquid while
avoiding drips or spreading the unknown liquid.
5. Wait approximately 30 seconds and observe the color change.
6. Compare any change in color to the color chart listed on the
inside of the M8 Detection Paper booklet. The color changes are described in Table 1:

positive or false negative readings in M8 Detection Paper:
Ammonia
• Petroleum Products
• Organic Solvents (such as pesticides)
• Hot greasy oily surfaces
• “Break Free” (a brand of weapon cleaner and lubricant)
• Decontamination solution 2 (DS2)
D. Storage and Disposal
1. Store
M8 Detection Paper in original sealed bag in a cool, dry
place away from light, heat, moisture, and damage.
2. Dispose of used
M8 Detection Paper sheets according to federal,
state, and local statutes and regulations.
